Andy Hodgson. Why we persist with him is beyond me. Get a player on co-comms.

Andy Hodgson - TV shopping channel salesman.
Probably a good soul and clearly a dedicated Burnley fan, but co-commentary has to be the role of an ex-player.

And not all of them have been much good.
TBH (and I use Clarets+ regularly), the commentary all to often drifts into some form of chat show, rudely interrupted by on pitch events.

My Burnley stream froze after about 20 minutes so flicked over and watched the rest of the game on Reading's stream. Their commentary seemed much more professional and also came across impartially.

Andy Hodgson. I don’t know why they keep having him on, there are complaints every time. Cringey.

I dare say they were better than Radio Lancashire. They're still wondering why we didn't make our fourth substitution after Benson went off.

I think I’ve only ever listened to the club commentary once so can’t comment but Hodgson gets a lot of criticism on here.

He didn’t particularly offend me but nor was he particularly good. It does seem odd when you think of the numerous ex Clarets who would contribute more to the gig.

He's a step up from Campbell, though.

I’m not offended by him, but the co-commentator role is to bring some technical insight…. And he’s not that. Instead he plays the role of comedic fan

I've only ever heard him on the highlights videos, and safe to say I'd hate to listen to 90 minutes of him

The best player I've heard on this was Ashley Westwood.

I watched the game on Reading's stream. The commentator was a joke, laughing when our players were injured and hoping they weren't trivial. Think he won a raffle to lead the commentary. Didn't know players' names and was really much more suited to judging the ugliest dog competition at a village fete.

Have to agree, thought they were terrible, laughing at Tella's injury and Benson's cramp later on.

He's very bad. Didn't see the game vs Reading but the last game he did it was the same thing. Talks far, far too much and thinks he's funny when he isn't.
Literally anyone else could do a better job, even one of us from here.

I’d be getting rid of Bird. He is so predictable in his commentary. Replace him and get in an ex player at the side of the new man.

It is annoying that he never seems to introduce his co commentator.... I know people in the states who constantly ask me who it is..... Whilst I may know them they rarely do.

100%. He also never tells you where on the pitch something is happening, how much time has passed, etc. which given it’s a radio commentary for the majority of fans, isn’t exactly helpful.

I love it when ex Burnley players (who were not from Burnley) commentate on the Clarets and always say “we” when referring to Burnley,David Eyres for example…it shows what love they had for the club

I like it when George is co-comms
I don’t mind Birdy and I have to say I love his passion however I agree with someone above that he starts chatting with co-coms and doesn’t cover what’s going On the pitch which I noticed when I saw the match but listened to his commentary but his main job is to assume its a listener without the picture. I would like him to just focus on what is happening Live. Also he does start to panic when our opposition are attacking and I hate his “the next goal is crucial”

And when there's been a worldy goal he just repeats "what a goal" a few times but never bothers to describe any of the action. Fine if you're watching on screen, highly frustrating when you've paid for the audio commentary
