Please consider supporting the Foodbank next Saturday
Hi everyone,
The usual reminder, if I may?
Next Saturday, I will be supporting the #ClaretsForFoodbanks initiative, by manning a wheelie bin with West Yorkshire Clarets, for an hour or so before kickoff in our game against Queens Park Rangers.
We will start the collection at 1:30 pm and finish at about 2:40 pm, although after that, any donations can be made at the fanzone collection point.
If you are able to, please consider dropping something in one of the eight wheelie bins as you make your way to the ground.
Thanks very much.
John

Yes. Whoever you are and whatever you do before, during and after the match. On your own or with pals.
Make the little effort to bring a tin. Put it in your pocket or a bag and drop in the bins. Spread the word. Make it significant, that on the day we welcome our champions, we also fill those food bins to overflowing.
Let's do it. The coolest thing you can do that day.
Up the Clarets.

Really appreciate that, Ian. We could do so so so so much better with better publicity. It’s such a good opportunity to offer some help (if able to do so of course).IanMcL wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 11:30 amYes. Whoever you are and whatever you do before, during and after the match. It’s a shame the Club doesn’t seem to want to be involved at all. A but of promotion from within the Club wouldn’t go amiss and would help to boost collections. We are, after all, a Community Club for the community.

I'll give a couple of items to the lad to drop in, he'll be going on, where can I tell him to find you? He's a bit gormless, gets it off his Mum.jdrobbo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 11:26 amHi everyone,

My wife’s weekly shop is Wednesday this week so she’s put items on her list for this. It’s such a great effort by everyone that gives up their time to do this. Well done to you all.

I'll be joining jdrobbo this Saturday with WYC - please feel free to abuse me as you go past, but only for a donation.
Having kicked this off back in 2019, I'm always happy to offer my help on a match day with WYC.

An irresistible offer! Hope to see you on Saturday. Traffic and parking permitting. I'll bring a few words too!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 9:32 amI'll be joining jdrobbo this Saturday with WYC - please feel free to abuse me as you go past, but only for a donation.

Sounds a bit like CT in the Stocks! Bring your good vegetables and meats or assorted useful items (tinned for the foodbank bin) and your words for Tony. Is there a better offer anywhere?

Worth mentioning that food banks can also be backed by donations online of money

Re: Please consider supporting the Foodbank next Saturday
Also to bump this thread
Tony and JDRobbo have worked wonders in all their efforts and time on home match days and in all weathers for this absolutely massive and brilliant cause.
I am fortunate not to have need of foodbanks but if I did need them I would be thanking everyone for supporting this fabulous cause,
I have only got to one Burnley home game and managed to leave some donations to JDRobbo’s bin
Therefore I would ask Tony if he could move £5 from my first goal sweep pot and either he or JDR buy something for the bin or just put the £5 in whichever is the easiest
I can then do a similar contribution to another home game later
Thanks in advance to Tony and John

A suggestion for anyone who wants to contribute but doesn't want to carry stuff around the pubs with them. You can buy items from the convenience shop across from the Turf pub on your way to the ground.

Thanks again to all those who are bringing a donation for the bins - I'll be down behind the cricket pavilion with jdrobbo but there will also be bins on Harry Potts Way by the club shop and close to the away fans turnstiles.

Look forward to saying hello and perhaps identifying JDRobbo too!

Re: Please consider supporting the Foodbank next Saturday
Really was a bumper collection and how fantastic to see RammyClaret61 turning up with four huge carrier bags full courtesy of Melbourne Clarets.
Good to chat with others too today, including Rick_Muller has mentioned, and even those who did take the opportunity to abuse me.
It's so rewarding standing there at the bins but the real heroes are those who donate - without you all it would be pointless.
Looking forward to improving this too next season with the hope that one day it won't be needed.
Just a final word. Someone you won't know but one of our inspirations is Dave Kelly from Everton. Along with such as Ian Byrne & Joe Blott at Liverpool (yes, they work together on this), they started the Fans Supporting Foodbanks idea which has spread throughout the game. I have learned today that Dave is unwell in hospital. I wish him the very best and look forward to hearing that he's back on foodbank duty at Goodison & Anfield very soon. People like Dave are an absolute credit to the game of football and supporters of football.

Re: Please consider supporting the Foodbank next Saturday
It’s certainly been a day for meeting people CT, Sandbach services seems to be the place to find and meet players after games. Had the pleasure of meeting Manny Benson after the Rovers home game, and tonight… only bumped into the whole QPR team on their way home and I had a great chat with Gareth Ainsworth on our way out. Banter aside, a really nice bloke and he seemed happy he played his part in building the tension for our next game at Ewood.

Re: Please consider supporting the Foodbank next Saturday
A pleasure CT. One of our members Paul was over for the Sheffield Utd game. He really wanted to donate. He could only get tickets in the Hamburg suit and had to be in the ground by 6pm. He handed me some money and asked if I’d get some stuff for this game. I mentioned it on our WhatsApp group, and trebled what Paul had donated.

Re: Please consider supporting the Foodbank next Saturday
Let’s hope the 2 bins full of donations left outside the portacabin an hour after the game are emptied early next week and taken to the foodbank before our last home game.
As it was, there was a bin full of food from the last home game before we even started yesterday. Disgraceful! And we talk about being a community based club?

I was pleased to put a face to JSRobbo yesterday. Unfortunately, I forgot about the opportunity to abuse Tony!
I saw the full bin they had and do hope the other bins were equally full.
Let's make them have to carry loads next time, as well as wheel the full bins!

We were going to ask if we’d missed the custard pies but jdr & Ct we’re deep in conversation with others so we just put our stuff in the bin, it did look full which is brilliant.
