Looking bleak for the Reds after yesterday's 5-2 home defeat to Fleetwood. Now second bottom and looking in real trouble. The one possible saving grace is that they're only two points adrift of safety, but they don't look like winning lately.
They've a home game with high flying Peterborough on Tuesday, which some will be calling the last throw of the dice. It'd help if they could keep 11 men on the pitch, another sending off yesterday, god knows how many that is lately.
Manager John Coleman received abuse coming off the pitch, with some fans calling on him to quit.
But the problem is who'd replace him, and if they were after someone to get them promoted if they do indeed drop, then they could do with someone like...Coleman.

And some would fairly say he's the one whos kept them up there as long as he has.

I hope they survive, but not confident at all they will.

Not sure, but the fans certainly deserve compensating. They pay and turn up to watch a proper game of 11 a-side football.

I can understand that view - he's done a remarkable job there.

If they could get Paul Cook out of Chesterfield, he has a past in the area and with Accrington itself.
Micky Mellon may fancy it.

While Coleman has been Mr. Accrington, he did jump ship when he thought he could move on to better things. I think a new voice may be just what Accrington needs to start looking up again, they seem to have ‘settled’ for lower league one of late and may pay the ultimate price for sticking when they should have twisted when another tail dive began (again) this year.

If you have the lowest budget in the league every year you will eventually get relegated.

How the club survives at that level on such low crowds is anyone's guess.

They're losing out on signings to Conference sides because some Conference sides pay higher wages than Stanley. They've had a huge number of injuries, especially to centre forwards and centre halves. It would be a miracle if they had stopped up. (Which they probably won't.)

They're losing out on signings to Conference sides because some Conference sides pay higher wages than Stanley. They've had a huge number of injuries, especially to centre forwards and centre halves. It would be a miracle if they had stopped up. (Which they probably won't.)

They’re still punching massively above their weight attendance/income wise. All but Harrogate and Salford get more than there 2.9k, in the whole football league. And 7 clubs in the National get more than them.

Sacking a man for one average season after 21 brilliant ones would be absurd. When he took over, Accrington Stanley were on a par with Skelmersdale United and Bamber Bridge, both in football terms and population size. If Coleman was under pressure, then the Skem and Bridge managers must be worried!

I went on Saturday. Stanley were beyond bad for most of the game. McConville, Nottingham and Whalley who are their most experienced players were spectacularly awful. Some of the natives are quite restless but not too vocally.

Unfortunately I've always found an element of their supporters to be very anti-Burnley and I'll shed no tears should they be relegated. I know a lot of their fans are fed up with the players' lack of discipline and Coleman blaming referees ad nauseam.

Strange one that, my experience of them is completely the opposite.....At school at Accy Grammar and later at work their fans were fully appreciative of our achievements during the sixties.....Most were, and remain to this day, half and half Stanley and Burnley.

Ive always Found it to be exactly the opposite , i go on 4-5 times a year, but theirs is a mix that go on so if burnley are away, it might have more local Burnley on. . If burnley are at home possibly more local rovers, but then i would never be on in that situation.

Went on a game around 2007 at home to Torquay, it was free entry for any fan and Accy scored a last minute free kick to win 1-0.

We had Preston away that day and it was an early kick off, before the game the announcer read out the score, we lost I think 2-1, and there was a huge cheer from the fans in the ground, definitely favour Blackburn more than us.

Though then a few years later we had that S.O.S friendly with them at Turf Moor under Coyle and I know they appreciated that gesture by the club.

They've tended to have a goalscorer, players such as Kee, Charles and Bishop, but they've struggled this season for goals.

I notice Bishop has 19 for Portsmouth.

Accrington still have Peterborough and ironically Portsmouth in their next 2 matches, both sides that have been scoring freely this campaign.

Yep...there was some mindless yobbery that evening for sure..one thuggish lunge (possibly from an ex Burnley youth lad?) at a young Aiden O'Neill could have ended his career before it started...

Their best hope is taking it to the last couple of games when they'll face fellow relegation strugglers.
