Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
Really ****** off with that.
The game was there for the taking, and we shot ourselves in the foot again.
Games like this can happen, we've pulled off a few in our time, but 2 games in a row dominant, and only 2 draws, points to a lack of something.
I know some of the lads haven't had as much game time, and it isn't ability we're missing, but a lack of composure, at both ends of the pitch.
If they can't handle the pressure in an end of season freebie, they are going to struggle in the Prem.
I'll be fine after a cup of tea.

Nobody to blame but ourselves really
Johann, Twine and Roberts should all score in that second half from 9 yds but Benny has to show them how it’s done from 25
Poor finishing regardless of the officiating

Earrlier this week I posted that Cullen needs either Josh or Jack , maybe both, with him. We end up playing with a number of players who I never know their role. JBG plays more as an attacker than a CM, Twine is he a striker, No 10 or what, and what is Vitinho's roleboatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 9:50 pmI think we'd all accept that we need a bit more in midfield, particularly with Brownhill missing.

Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
A few players in the side again to get some continuity - Foster and Twine both performed well tonight . I think Al-Dakhil is showing signs of being a great player too. Think he needs to strengthen up a tad and learn when to come out and press and when to stay. A bit like THB at the start of the season.
Rotherham gave us a game in the reverse fixture , fsir play to them.
To those saying them lot down the road will be licking their lips….didn’t we lose 5-2 not long before we played them last?

I'm sick of this peeing about looking at fringe players, weve seen them, they are not good enough, end of. A proper team for the weekend please!
Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
I think that’s absolutely right. He allowed them to turn it into a Rugby game instead of a Football match and then gave nonsense free kicks to them whilst also allowing their midfielder to save one with his hands?! Just bizarre!

When would you prefer to try these players? Against Man City next year? Or in a game we target to win against a team in and around us?jiggerno1.0 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 9:56 pmI'm sick of this peeing about looking at fringe players, weve seen them, they are not good enough, end of. For what it’s worth I think we go as strong as possible at weekend in line for midweek

Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
With fringe players they are often good enough for one or two to slot in to a functioning unit that’s ticking over nicely
It’s when you pick six or seven all at once that the team suffers and the unit stutters - as was evidenced for 10 years under Dyche with his cup selections

Crikey lads, we dominated that for minute one to about minute 85, and should have scored far more than the two we did
Blatant pen missed, arguably a foul for their first, poor for us on their second
Can we avoid the meltdown that happened after the Reading game please?

Agree! By far the better team throughout and just one of those nights. I thought Twine and Foster played well and great to see Benny score another peach of a goal!Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 10:01 pmCrikey lads, we dominated that for minute one to about minute 85, and should have scored far more than the two we did

However, VK will be far from happy with the goals conceded and even less happy with those useless turds officiating!

Fantastic performance by Madeley. He really made the championship refs look good this season.
Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
I do not see why he would do that, he picks the team and wants to see what the fringe players offer, we will be at full strength next game and will win the championship at the turf123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 9:49 pmKompany will tear into them after that last 2 games haven’t been good enough for his standards

Be interested to know how we have got on points wise when Brownhill is playing vs when he isn't.
I don't think we have the personal to replace what he brings in the centre when he's not fit.

We win against QPR, we are announced Champions at home, and we get a guard of honour at Shitwood.

Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
Frustrated more than disappointed tonight. I though Foster and Twine both had very good first half’s but we didn’t get the ball in the right areas going forward in the second half. I think Cullen needs more help in midfield, we played more solidly earlier in the season when we had Cork, Cullen and Brownhill as a midfield three. I like Maatsen but I will say it again...his defensive positional play can be poor at times and would be found out in the PL. Finally, the referee and linesmen tonight were worse than awful, I have genuinely seen better refereeing displays up Towneley on a Sunday afternoon.

Think VK may be doing a Fergie ,and deciding a few games ahead who plays against who.

Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
Better performance than Reading and it’s a wonder how we didn’t win it tbh. Sloppiness at key moments both ends of the pitch. I’d like Muric back in. He’s just the better keeper and I always think it’s better for the defenders, whoever they are, to have the same man between the sticks. Vitinho further up just doesn’t work for me. Better from Foster tonight and both he and Twine probably deserve a longer run. We’ll finish the job on Saturday.
Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
Honest question, and I'm sorry I only talk about Ekdal but, here in Sweden there has been talk about one of the clauses in the deal that if Hjalmar plays 10 games this season, DIF will get a sizeable amount of cash. He has currently played 9 games and as far as I can tell, hasn't made any mistakes but he has still been benched in 2 games and out of the squad entirely in 3. Do you guys think there is a chance that Burnley is intentionally pushing him out of the squad so they won't have to pay the fee or is there something else going on here?
I'm not saying this is the case at all as he could be injured for all I know but I haven't heard anything like that. Just wanted to hear your thoughts on this possibility.

Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
Did he not get injured playing for Sweden in the international break?
Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
As far as I know it was a very minor injury and that he could've played on but they played it safe. Doesn't seem like something that would keep him out this long. Maybe he got another injury in training or something?

Great night with a bouncing atmosphere & thanks to the BFC fans for contributing to it. Yeah I agree you should have been out of sight but what a point that could turn out to be for us. Again many many congratulations Champions. Anyone try the Popeye's burger van BTW?

A decent match, we should have it won by half time but you fought for a point in what seemed to be the game of the season for you guys.BradTheMiller wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 11:52 pmGreat night with a bouncing atmosphere & thanks to the BFC fans for contributing to it. God knows how some of your lads would react if they actually won something. Very amusing, though.
Popeye' pork roll was amazing, decent bloke too.

Re: Matchday thread - Rotherham
The last two performances has shown a lethargy throughout the side. Promotion gained and they are on the beach. It’s easy for them to pass it around with no purpose but it was so slow I almost fell asleep. The minute before their first goal was awful. They were waiting for HT instead of seeing it out in their half.
I’d love to know what happened to Zaroury at the World Cup because he hasn’t been the same player since. Lots of stepovers and tidy passing but where are the goals and assists we drooled over before he went away?
I just hope VK has the first team out on Saturday and Tuesday and they turn up.

Did anyone else see Rotherham's manager basically telling Cork and the other subs to **** off the pitch after the game, when they were having their warm downs? What an absolute knob
As for some of the comments on here, what's the problem? We played ok the last few games, nothing to get mad about. I've never seen us win a title at the turf so I'm happy we can all get behind the lads on saturday and make it a special day

I never thought VK would "let them go on the beach" once we had clinched promotion. But you are right-a mixture of fringe players who again showed they are not quite up to it and a lethargy in the last third in both the two last gamesTricky Trevor wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 7:59 amThe last two performances has shown a lethargy throughout the side. We weren't lethargic last night, far from it.
Not clinical enough, careless even, but there was no lack of energy.
Zaroury remains one of the most dangerous players in this league.
