Re: Matt Taylor
Its a very minor thing, but if you wanted to get your fans onside, then you could wave your arms around a lot and look annoyed at the champions warming down on the pitch
I know its not a lap of honour for scabbing a draw, but it certainly looks like it!

They must have been furious about the 11 Burnley players who had been in front of them for the previous 90 minutes.

Why, most fans are leaving the ground anyway. If the sight of opposition players warming down upsets you, then you're a sad plonker. Not you Steve, but the fans.steve1264b wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 1:24 pmTbf i think he had a point. We should warm down by running towards our fans.
He shouldn't have engaged with him, he should have laughed in his face and carried on.

Re: Matt Taylor
It's pathetic
He said after the game that "he hoped Burnley had made an honest mistake"
No mistakes made. Just warming down after the game. Like every game. And using the pitch to do so. Because what else would you use???
Embarrassing really

And desperate.
If they survive this year, they'll just be another ale house side scratting about at the wrong end of the table next season.
No wonder he's bitter.

Re: Matt Taylor
What a bell end. Trying to pick an argument over something as trivial as that. It certainly looked to me like they were trying a lap of honour after getting a very lucky point against the champions elect. They could however win a trophy themselves - Championship Timewasters of The Season. Muppets.
Re: Matt Taylor
He was a big baby after their loss at the Turf too, moaning about the 10 minutes added claiming ‘refs never add on 10 minutes’ as a reason he shouldn’t have added 10 for all their time wasting. Odd bloke.

Wouldn’t it have been easier though to simply keep the peace and say “okay Matt I’ll get the lads to run to the other end, honest mistake”. End of. Problem solved.

Re: Matt Taylor
The keeper that came on in the second half was a disgrace his 1st touch he just stood there for 10 minutes looking around ..I said to the wife when Benson's shot sailed past his flailing dive " pick that out you time wasting b@stard"...sadly they equalised.Claretitus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 6:21 pmWhat a bell end. Re: Matt Taylor
He was right though - they don’t.
How do you think our fans would have reacted to this if it was the other way round ? (bearing in mind we spent much of the last 8 years time wasting)
Rather than refs arbitrarily apply it every now and again we just need some consistency and rules like the keeper 6 second rule reviewing and then whatever they come up with actually applying rather than deliberately ignoring by all referees

Very fair, I felt with the quality and injuries they had, they probably did deserve something from the two fixturesclaretandy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 6:30 pmQuite complementary about us here ... https://youtu.be/_UW4PmDevdo

Re: Matt Taylor
Maybe he should look at what he his doing himself.
Maybe doing a lap of honour like you have won the league when picking up at point at home is one of the reason rotherham are where they are.
Do they do a lap of honour every game?
Very strange.

Re: Matt Taylor
It's a weird one the reaction to the players warm down. Don't think we were doing anything antagonistic. All something of nothing though.
Interesting manager and career as has been said. Started off as a goalkeeper in non league... then a centre half at league one and championship level.
Got Exeter out of league 2 on a shoestring budget developing youngsters and has brought through some real quality players. Solid start at Rotherham who are completely paupers at this level. Comes across as an intelligent bloke in interviews and still pretty young. Wouldn't he surprised if he turns out to be a solid manager at this level.
They've given us games both times this season and have proven tougher opposition than a lot of 'bigger clubs. ... saying all that... they did scab it a bit yesterday

Re: Matt Taylor
I witnessed this at the time. They are fighting for their lives and the manager and the team were fired up against the top team in the league. He was using whatever motivation he could to get a result against us and was still fired up after the game.
They are a very well run “not for profit” community club. They have a wage cap and desperately need to stay in the Championship. It’s worth £6m to them. Owned and run by die hard fans who have built a great stadium and regenerated the area.
I thought the atmosphere was great and their players kept going. I was concerned that we could lose the game in the last few minutes. Fair play to them and hope we have the same sort of partisan/under dog spirit at the Turf next season

.
The comments above about them celebrating that result probably being the reason they are where they are in the league, is disrespectful. They are overachieving right now....arguably to the extent we were with top 10 finishes.
I remember where we were in the late 80's, early 90's, so not a fan of the arrogance that tends to be shown towards perceived 'lesser' teams.

Re: Matt Taylor
He’s just signed to play for my local cricket club over the summer, seen him at nets a couple of times, seems a decent guy. Good cricketer too.
Have to say, it’s a good club really. Realistically sized, town centre stadium. Pubs were welcoming, fans were sound and understandably pleased with a hard earned point. Not everything has to be a squabble.

Re: Matt Taylor
He opened the batting for Burscough CC. Won the FA Trophy with Burscough as goalkeeper. Converted to centre back and did well in the lower leagues. Now doing ok at Rotherham. One to watch.

Re: Matt Taylor
I saw it live on the rotherham stream. You could see our coach apologising to him and agreeing to go down the other end and Matt Taylor still wasn't happy. However, you also saw our players on the halfway line being told to go down that end and they all sprinted down there so i do think we aren't entirely blameless for being petty ourselves.
