Disrespectful moron.

Looks like TalkSport are all over Twitter this morning peddling this and quotes from Jeff Stelling about Kompany needing to leave us.

At least there’s one good guy (Chris Kamara) who’s saying the opposite.

Not just a good guy but the only one talking sense. Sterling at least wasn't outright disrespectful and I can see his point from the prospect of money going to a bigger club but it wouldn't be wise for Kompany to leave until he himself has some top managerial experience.

I hope we upset some clubs and over achieve next year, it would be nice to see some positive press surrounding how the club has improved rather than only talking about our manager.

It just goes to show what being a "name" in football does to the press and mdia.

Dyche does similar, and never got talked about in this light.

Is it because Kompany has done it in his first season or is it simply because it's Kompany?

Similarly, Luton being in the playoffs, if they win, will their manager get all these media plaudits and told to leave for a "bigger" club?

Jeff Stelling should be concentrating on his beloved Hartlepool who are doomed to playing in the National League again next season. Perhaps he just can’t stand other smaller clubs being successful when his own club fail spectacularly season after season and change managers every few months.

When a manager is exceeding expectations and proving himself, he is going to attract richer clubs - Especially if he has Premier League pedigree. That intensifies the press speculation.

We have to accept that one day he’ll take the offer.

We love a good moan about The Sun, Daily Mail & Talksport. Clearly, it’s click-driven gutter journalism.

Every time you post, retweet or click on their links, they win. They love the fact that you disagree with their views strongly enough to read or share them. That’s how they make money.

Stop complaining and start ignoring.

Pace will have to give a club permission to speak with them depending on the agreement in his contract.

Not sure his career would have had the longevity it’s had if all he’d done was talk about Hartlepool.

I thought Jeff Stelling championed smaller clubs. All he had to say; 'It's a matter for Vincent Kompany, and I'm sure he doesn't require my advice'.

I thought we were Stelling’s second club for some reason - something dating back to his childhood or his dad ?
Anyhow - what does it matter if a journalist and a washed up ex nut job of a manager say this stuff ?

As for Alan Pace having to give permission for him to talk to another club - since when as this ever stopped a manager leaving ? It’s the same for players. In reality if a manager or player wants to leave then these discussions just happen and 99 times out of a 100 there’s nothing the club can do to stop it

I don’t think VK will want to leave personally. He likes it here and has a perfect challenge set up for his development next year where he has earned himself some time to experiment and make mistakes without the pressure of hitting the ground running and getting results as he would have at a top club.

No guarantees of course and if he did leave in the summer would not be a massive shock and he would join a very long list of players and managers who leave Burnley to take on a bigger / better paid job (actually not sure the list of managers is that long !!!)

To be honest, Stelling sounded like a prat.
He mentioned short memories and VK should go if he got the chance. He then mention " Look at Gerrard, he was looking for the Liverpool job and now look how far down the pecking order he is"
Without stating the fact that this is due to Gerrard taking a BIGGER job and failing.

I’m sure VK knows that if he leaves as we enter the PL with all loan players departing (i.e. in the lurch) he will not be remembered fondly, whereas if he leave in 12 or 24 months time with us stabilised again he will be.

Legacy is important to many people. Look at somebody like Coyle, now pretty much despised by everyone he ever managed. He will have regrets even if he never admits to them.

Today’s celebrity culture means VK will be talked about by every clown and some of those will wind us up. The trouble with having a high profile manager. Even someone doing really well like the Brentford and Brighton managers don’t get all this chatter because they are not as high profile. It’s a bit of a yin and yang but he needs a strong mind to filter it all out and do the thing he thinks best throughout his career.

He'll give us at least a year.
I don't know why people get wound up about these rumours, and pundits. It's inevitable, and a compliment. I mean who in his right mind doesn't think that VK can do a top job, at a top club. His insight into the game on Saturday, we are all passed off with the referee, he never mentions him. Focusing on how we lost our way looking g at the prize, instead of the match. Doing things we hadn't done all season, and not doing the things we had.
He is a very, very clever man, and he knows he doesn't need to rush into any basket case of a club.

I think the biggest thing in our favour is that neither Chelsea or Spurs are likely to be in the Champions league next season. Kompany is going to the very top and a club in the Champions league. Let’s hope that sways his decision so that we get a season out of him in the Prem.

He's linked to the biggest jobs because he's Vincent Kompany. If you don't think that's right or fair, ask if we would have appointed a middling young Anderlecht manager last summer if he wasn't Vincent Kompany.

As long as Pace has a wishlist should he go, then there's nothing we can do either way.
If he had a good season we knew all eyes would be on him... and he's had an incredible one.

He may go to a 'big club', but he has got us promoted to get the rumours.
If he had done a good job of restructuring, and changing the style in he first season, got to the quarters of the FA in his second, and earned promoted in the third. We would still worry about losing him. Kompany moving on has been a conversation since the moment he was linked, never mind started doing well.

But ultimately, it's down to Vincent Kompany. Only VK and Burnley FC will know if moving clubs now would be the best for him. We are still determining whether VK has fully bought into a long-term vision at Turf Moor. He might have something in his contract that stipulates that he's allowed to talk to the 'top 6 clubs'... he might not.

The press doesn't have a say in persuading him - only Vincent Kompany, his agent and Burnley FC by giving interested club permission to speak to him... oh and his pay packet

The point is, he is 'the flavour of the month' now; come October next season, with Burnley hyopethicially in the relegation zone; will he get another opportunity to manage a Champions League quality club?

Bill Shankly used to say you start worrying when people stop writing or talking about you. VK is in the public eye because of what he has achieved and the way he conducts himself. Its not Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, Michael Carrick being linked with every manager job going in the PL its VK. Right now I would put him as one of the most popular managers for neutral supporters across the country. He will go on to show that apart from his management skills he also possesses integrity and loyalty to his team and employers. Lets move on and enjoy the rest of the season and our Summer strengthening and recruitment, as from what I see and hear he is already on the case

He should stay with us until Guardiola leaves City. I wouldn't be surprised if that job already has his name on it.

There's no need to prove himself at another PL club before then. He's already got enough to manage them.

I think next stop City is even more likely than earlier in the season when Pep was having a relatively tricky time. Now he is on for the treble and if they get it and more success with Pep City will want the continuity that VK will bring rather than a more radical change , when it happens.

Think it is from his own mouth Tony. I’ll have quick look to see if I can find another source.
He’s always said that we were his second team as a kid but never heard any mention of his wife at all.

Not found anything as yet but regarding his ground walk, I think was one… fitting it starts at Burnley and finishes at Hartlepool, as my wife’s from Burnley and a fan” or something like that.

Mentioned it on his live show a few times I think too.
