Cardiff match

Post by AmbleClaret » Wed Apr 26, 2023 9:17 am

Can't wait for this now.Its a bank holiday, lets hope the sun is shining and we can ALL celebrate with the team, plus give a fitting farewell to the lads who'll be leaving us. I reckon it's going to be one hell of a party.

Just out curiosity, when do resale / returns go back on sale roughly? I've managed to fly over for the game in time for it. Anticipating the parade was gonna be on the Monday, but as I leave on a Tuesday I won't make that and see them lift it. So the sold out game is my only shout.

Should I just keep pestering the ticket office next week? I have family in the BL Stand but will sit anywhere really.

I wonder if the club could do something to try and encourage fans to go on earlier? Discounted drinks in the ground? It would also be a great gesture towards the fans. Our average gate this year must have been as high as it's ever been (certainly since I've been going on from the mid 80's).

If you are from overseas? You should've/should contact the supporter liaison officer. They will be able to help.

I don't think folk will run on, just because of how the season finished, we've sort of already done all the over the top celebrating at Boro and Blackburn.
Will be more applause and singing I'd have thought, could be wrong though.

I'll say it, a pitch invasion against Cardiff would be ridiculous, we've already won it and it's utterly pointless. I hope they set up the trophy presentation like Man City do, staff making a tunnel and the players and manager come out individually so they all get some acclaim, it's brilliant and would help create an amazing atmosphere

I reckon clubs will be under a bit of pressure this season to stop it after a few unsavoury incidents at the end of last season, but let's be realistic, there's going to be a pitch invasion.

People will run on, lots in the Upper Tiers will boo. People will take a few selfies etc then get cleared off and the players will come out.
Just like every other time.

Could be an interesting atmosphere if they need a result to stay up. Party time in our stands and nerves in the away end.

As for the Club doing something as a gesture. How about all ST holders can claim a VK style baseball cap for free. Great sight for VK to come out and see all Clarets with that!!!

Maybe increase the number of stewards around the perimeter of the pitch then ALL Clarets fans can show their appreciation and allow the presentations to go off without a hitch

Cardiff are more or less safe after last night.

Game looks like a dead rubber now.

If you know of anyone who might try to run on, particularly from the Jimmy Mac end, it's a good idea to discourage them. Those LED boards aren't secured to the ground and might be taller than expected. If several people try to climb them at once, there's a chance they could fall over like dominoes, which could be dangerous if anyone is underneath.

If there is an invasion, the trophy presentation will almost certainly be scrapped.

Sounds a bit OTT. As mentioned above, no doubt a few overexcited kids will run on and be cleared within a few minutes.

The game itself being likely a dead rubber will certainly dampen the possibility or at least the volume of a pitch invasion . I’m sure a few 100 kids will run on and be cleared relatively quickly “ or the players won’t come back out for the trophy “
Perhaps stating loud n clear that there’s a presentation right after the match might JUST be enough to stop any running on.

Haha...more likely that I launch my eldest from the upper tier. Let's just say he is demonstrating 'challenging teenage behaviour' when watching his beloved Clarets.

I should also take this opportunity to apologise to everyone who sits around him :D

Don’t be daft. Scrapped? Do what they usually do and just delay till everyone is off. As if they would scrap the presentation

Can remember a pitch invasion in the late 80’s when Cardiff were the ones getting promoted!

In the same boat here

Telling him just to enjoy us being really good because there will be plenty of times that we are completely crap not working then?

Same here!

The PL & EFL are seriously clamping down on this stuff. Especially after last seasons unsavoury scenes. A few “overexcited kids” will unfortunately be joined by a few over intoxicated idiots.

I really hope the club put out some decent communication of what is happening fairly quickly. As in an itinerary of what will occur and when.

All I want is the trophy presentation at the end of the game in front of a full house, maybe the players introduced onto the pitch one by one, then a lap of honour with Queen playing, that'll do me.

Don't forget, the stewards and security have already done a 'pitch invasion prevention' operation after the Sheff U game. That was because they had practised prior to the Boro game, just in case we achieved promotion after the Blades game.

This thread is full of middle aged people who have ran on the pitch plenty of times in their youth, but detest any young clarets having the fun they had.
