Relegation?
If you could go back to the last game of last season and change the outcome so that we didn't get relegated, would you still do it now?
I'm not sure I would, which sounds ridiculous now considering how gutted I was at the time.

Re: Relegation?
No - relegation changed the direction of the club. I’m sure there’s a better word than fortuitous, but that’s what it was

Re: Relegation?
Nope.
The club needed a full reset and although we may still have got VK, I’m not sure that would have happened had we stayed up.
There wouldn’t have been the turnover of players in/out for a start

Definitely not
Re: Relegation?
As gutted as I was last May ... I would not swap this season for anything ...
Lets now get behind our Premier League Clarets once again ... Onwards and upwards

Re: Relegation?
Knowing what we know now, no, of course not, but hindsight is always wonderful.
There was never any guarantee we'd bounce back, even the club planned for a couple of seasons in the championship whilst the rebuild took place.
That we've romped home so spectacularly is an unexpected result.

Nope. Had enough of the PL and we all needed a reset. Couldn't have gone any better.

Could turn out to be one of the best things to ever happen to us.

Re: Relegation?
I wouldn't change this season for anything. But, in away I wish we could be champions and not go up. The premier league does get tiresome when you're at the bottom and struggling every week.

Re: Relegation?
Absolutely not.
I thought we'd made a massive mistake sacking Dyche, and then getting relegated. I thought we'd be down there for years.

Am already looking forward to another six year stint in the Prem.

Re: Relegation?
I thought I'd get slated for this, surprised everyone agrees with me.
I've loved this season, I was utterly sick of the filthy Premier League, not sure I'll enjoy it next year, but this season has been mint.

Re: Relegation?
Once up there attitudes tend to change about staying in the Premier League. Hence why the likes of Palace supporters were all too happy to get rid of Vieira and return to Roy Hogdson, so desperate they were to stay up rather than get relegated.burnley007 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 1:24 pmI thought I'd get slated for this, surprised everyone agrees with me.

Re: Relegation?
No, although being relegated was a huge disappointment, it paved the way for what was to come. Although no one knew at the beginning what would happen, I can remember that first game, Huddersfield away as we watched in awe at the unveiling of the new regime……….Wow! Burnley in the Championship was the start of something very very special……….now let’s enjoy what is to come next

Re: Relegation?
Well i have to say would have loved it if we stayed up .
Kompany would have still come in and we would have done so well and sat here in the top 4 thinking about Champions league football next season .
So now we have to wait a whole season .
Positive thinking, a lot to learn Grasshopper .

They could write a book on us this season: "How to do relegation"

Re: Relegation?
On the last day of last season I was inconsolable and thought we'd thrown it all away to spend the next 30 years amongst the also rans, dross and the basket cases. Instead we got possibly the best season in living memory. Relegation has worked out just brilliantly and I wouldn't change a thing!

Re: Relegation?
No, but that's regardless of this season.
We needed a rebuild, which we could never afford in the Prem. What's happened is just a very sweet bonus.

I was gutted last may......at 64 I thought that would be the last time I'd see the Clarets in the top flight.

Re: Relegation?
I wouldn’t change a thing. I certainly didn’t want relegation last season but there was no guarantee we would bounce back. I still remember the relegation of 1976 which was the start of the awful slide which culminated in the Orient game only 11 mostly miserable seasons later, so relegation always scares me.
Re: Relegation?
Best thing to happen to us. We needed a reset all over the club from top to bottom after the previous regime had cracked and failed.
Re: Relegation?
No contest, definitely not.
Championship winners.
Fantastic season of quality football.
A season of no VAR.
A season without the primadona theatrics.
Topped off by the scenes at the final whistle last night.

Where have you been?
I take your point about the rest though.

Re: Relegation?
Another no here
About the only thing worth watching last season was Cornet, and far too many games we didn't look the required standard
Relegation with lots of players out of contract was probably the best thing that could have happened to us as it gave us the space and time for a complete reset
(Yes, more than a little bit of hindsight involved here, but we as fans also needed to see a different team and style)

Re: Relegation?
I thought we would return to being a mid table championship club. The frightening thing about that is, it wouldn't take many bad decisions for a club with no benefactor to find themselves dropping down again.
We are so fortunate that several chairmen have made some fantastic managerial appointments and guided our club superbly.

Re: Relegation?
Me too. I made up 65 last Saturday and last May I was was convinced my days of PL football at the Turf were permanently over. The perfect birthday present would have been the Clarets beating QPR and sealing the Championship which of course they bloody didn't! But being there last night more than made up for it!!!

Re: Relegation?
Vinny was coming either way. Who knows, he may have led us to Europe in his first season but seeing as we will never know how it would have panned out, the answer is of course no.

Re: Relegation?
let me think:
signed some superb footballers
double over Blackburn
Won the league at Ewood
Seen us play some unreal football
Best season ever
Relegation was the absolute best thing that happened to us, allowed the complete reset at a level we could do it at.

Re: Relegation?
I think VAR is likely to see the end of me being a season ticket holder so a year without it was great!
