Will we ever beat that feeling?
Will we ever beat that feeling?
Followed burnley many years now and I know not everyone will agree but on Tues night at our rivals ground winning the league could not be bettered for me personally.
Realistically we are never going to win the prem, fa cup is doubtful so in my middle 60s it looks like I have reached my high, I'm still buzzing, at long last I can lord it over that lot

What would have topped it would have been to relegate them at the same time

it is about as good as its going to get for us, and I'm just pleased that its happenedTerrier wrote: βSun Apr 30, 2023 12:54 pmFollowed burnley many years now and I know not everyone will agree but on Tues night at our rivals ground winning the league could not be bettered for me personally.

And every single day for the rest of my life, i'm going to remember that we beat the bastards at Ewood to win the title, and I'll know that every other Burnley fan will remember the same, and so will every Blackburn fan
And that is very pleasing for those of us who grew up with them being quite a bit better than us!

I was beaming at the time. A great way to win the league. But it wonβt surpass the play-off win at Wembley, and I doubt anything will.

Re: Will we ever beat that feeling?
Long after the buzz has subsided, winning the league on their ground will be spoken and sung about for generations to come. A real piece of history has been made in the story of this long rivalry and this is as big as it gets.
I know this is ludicrously greedy, but it really would have put a cherry on the icing if whilst they were floundering upfield with every man and his dog trying to desperately scrape out a draw, that magnificent shot of Benson's had been a few inches lower and gone in. I think that might have trumped his earlier one as my favourite goal of the season, if not all time.

Re: Will we ever beat that feeling?
You couldn't have written the script, could you?
(Well, you could, but it would have sounded ludicrous.)
Winning the title at the ground of our fiercest rivals with a worldie of a goal, and severely denting their playoff hopes at the same time.
Still can hardly believe it and yes, im still grinning as well.

Manuel Benson, take your place alongside Grewcock, Britton, Francis and Elliott.

they can never live it down, one that goes down in history and one that we can ram down their throats from here to eternity

Re: Will we ever beat that feeling?
The following was utterly unthinkable when I started watching Burnley:
Winning the championship
Beating Rovers
To do them both on the same night in their own back yard is breathtaking.
I'm never going to get over it.

Totally agree.
My 16 year old self in the mid 90s, could have only dreamed that something like this would eventually happen.
Pure fantasy

Nope we'll never top that. As others have said, to do it at eeeewood and damage their play off hopes at the same time is very special. We won't forget it and we shouldn't let them forgot it either. Ever.
As per usual, the mouth frothers have been quick to try and play it down and trot out their well rehearsed nonsense:
'You'll never win the Premieeer league' erm, we have won the 1st Division twice which is the same thing, you moron.
'You've bought the league ' erm, no we sold players for approx 70m and spent roughly half replacing them. You on the other hand definitely did buy the league.
'we should've had a pen when Barnes hand-balled it' that, my little bburn chum is called karma, for Dunn's offside injury time equaliser and Ollsen's dive for the penalty at the Turf which he laughingly admitted in the post match interview.
Etc etc etc

Re: Will we ever beat that feeling?
The only thing that could have been better for me was to have been there in person to witness it. I've seen us beat them at Ewood back in the 70s, and I was so happy for those Clarets who were able to be there to see us clinch the title on their own patch. No matter what happens in years to come, this is a supreme event that can be enjoyed forever. Wet day here today, might just watch a re-run of it againLancasterclaret wrote: βSun Apr 30, 2023 1:03 pmit is about as good as its going to get for us, and I'm just pleased that its happened

Yes.
When we win the FA Cup next year. Beating City in the final 2-0.
We should always have dreams!

Re: Will we ever beat that feeling?
I thought that this season might be struggle. Relegated, losing many of our better players, millions in dept, a shed load of unknown players coming in. If anybody had suggested that we would be promoted so early and actually win the league at Ewood I would think either they are on, or should be on, drugs.

Lets face facts, when we lost so many of our regulars and VK brought in a lot of young unheard of (to most of us) players ... I thought well as long as he can get them to gel, we might have a good 2nd half to the season and finish mid table ....
Wow how wrong that was ... for VK to rebuild a team so quickly and get it to gel and play in a style of football (such as we are now playing) in the way he has is ... almost unheard of ...
Long may it continue
