Sacha reporting he has news on Lakongo very soon, thinking not immediately but within the next few days. Hoping that ties in with us returning and Kompany and Pace starting to get players in

Perhaps they’d take the cart horse in a p/x for Tella.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I suspect Nixon's value has to be taken with a pinch of salt here. Transfer fees tend to be simplified by journalists. Negotiations are often as much about the amount paid up front, exactly how much is guaranteed or subject to performance, or add ons relating to team performance.
In headline terms, a fee of £15m feels about right for Tella. He's young enough to appreciate in value (although slightly older than you might first think), has the sort of pace that translates to the Premier League, improved dramatically as a finisher as last season went on (a feature of confidence perhaps) and in additional presses extremely well, which I haven't seen mentioned this morning but does seem to me to be extremely important to our success next season.

Questionable finishing ,compared to some of the donkeys we’ve had up front he’s a world beater ,don’t know how you can call his finishing questionable.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 12:11 pmTella has always had questionable finishing. If that has now changed, which I feel it has, either with games or with Bellamy’s influence, it could be a good price.
He is a bit excitable, had a few dodgy looking exchanges with fans and opponents like that 3-0 finger gesture, but as long as he doesn’t get unpleasant and stays the right side of the line I’m fine with that.

Ah my apologies. Just my mistake! In which case I agree with your excellent observation. Tella presses as well as any forward I've seen at Burnley and that is a huge asset if we intend to play on the front foot next season.

I thought Tella's finishing was questionable about 17 times last season.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 12:11 pmTella has always had questionable finishing. If that has now changed, which I feel it has, either with games or with Bellamy’s influence, it could be a good price.

Tella's finishing was so suspect that I was genuinely shocked when he missed a one-on-one at Boro. Would've put my mortgage on him burying it.

Looks like Vigouroux couold be our first signing since the window opened recently. Do we think Peacock Farrell will go to Sheff Wed as rumoured and Vigoroux becomes No 3 keeper (replacing Will Norris) and VK brings in a GK to compete with Muric. Thats how I anticipate it

Signing a 19 year old centre back on loan would be a surprising one

"After playing his first two professional matches with Dortmund this season, Soumaïla Coulibaly (19, under contract until 2026) should leave Germany. The French centre-back is in advanced contact ahead of Premier League-promoted Burnley on loan. The question of the call option is still a subject of discussion. The U20 international (2 caps) arrived in Dortmund in 2021."

I trust VK fully but I hope we don’t sign Lokonga, has looked miles off it so far in the PL.Cleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 12:20 pmSacha reporting he has news on Lakongo very soon, thinking not immediately but within the next few days. We should take away every strikers goals against bottom teams as they obviously don’t count. Maybe let members of the crowd play in these games in future as it’s that easy.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 3:10 pmIf you take out penalties Harry Kane only has two for England.

I didn’t, Southampton did. That has always been the reason their “star boy” didn’t get a regular Premier League run. Fairly common knowledge. To me he is fantastic.
(Probably didn’t make that clear in my original post)

Surprised nobody's mentioned Walcott he could be our new Aaron Lennon, it'll be interesting to see where he ends up.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I'm hoping we get Palmer from Man City, the Tella link is a good sign, obviously as always, lot's of divided opinions regarding the price, I'd clearly like less but if it's structured correctly, I think it can end up a good deal for us at the quoted price but clearly AP & recruitment team will make the decision. If you have something that you know someone coverts then you're always going to ask a high price to start with, even if you're not going to use it, trick for Southampton is to ensure they don't get left with players that won't play! Yes I know they can loan to a Champion club but feel they're going to have to respect Tella's feeling somewhat in the end, feels like to me we might have a few late arrivals but if we send relatively early and fill positions there could be no place left for those we wanted, through selling clubs trying to hold to ransom.
So many people linked, it's getting hard to remember all and then rank by positions and our main needs for me but wow what a changed to what we were all used to, except for this start of the VK era!

Lokonga
Mikautadze
Drameh
Verbruggen
These are the top targets alongside Tella if affordable (who would replace Mikautadze)

From the age perspective Redmond would offer more, I think Walcott could probably do another season in the top flight, he'd be ok at a Luton or somewhere similar to offer his experience.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 8:26 pmHad been playing on turkey, free agent now, been offered deal at beskitas to

Antwerp just won the league with him as number one, surely he comes in to challenge muric the same as verbruggen would and the lad from orient is 3rd choice so that franchi and Casper can go out on loanboatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 9:39 pmButez is 27. Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I've seen Lokonga play for Anderlecht and I must say he's an amazing player. Just being used in the wrong way. Perfect technical ability and great vision on the pitch. Has a beautiful style always scanning the perimeter staying in balance. Can receive the ball in short spaces turn away from defenders and can score a goal. Good passing. He fitted perfectly in Kompany's system because of those abilities.
I don't understand why he hasn't been getting more playing time and also why he's not being used as a guy that directs the play. Someone that has to be involved in the passing game as a Guardiola type player. A pivot.

Nah I don't think so. Muric is better imo. Only Verbruggen would be an upgrade as he is a future top goalkeeper also perfect for Kompany. Good feet, smart, a leader, great mentality, calm under pressure, and a good shot stopper. Hope they can get it done I'd hate for him to go to Brighton.

Stat wise Butez is a better goal keeper then berbruggen right now, 19 clean sheets, in his prime, verbruggen we are buying on potential and the fact kompany has wanted him for 12 monthsAnthonini wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 10:06 pmNah I don't think so. Which stats suggest he’s better? I see you’ve mentioned clean sheets but that isn’t the most reliable one for a goalkeeper.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 18, 2023 10:53 pmStat wise Butez is a better goal keeper then berbruggen right now, 19 clean sheets, in his prime, verbruggen we are buying on potential and the fact kompany has wanted him for 12 months

really ? Ederson will have loads of clean sheets but that's cause he has his deck chair out most weeks rather than he making saves like Pope does, it can be a very misleading stat imho (as most can tbh)123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 6:51 amI would say clean sheets is probably one of the most reliable and important stats for a goal keeper

Heaton and Pope were both relegated the season before they joined us. I doubt we chased them based on their clean sheets.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 6:51 amI would say clean sheets is probably one of the most reliable and important stats for a goal keeper

Butez played double the games of verbruggen and only conceded 5 more goals, if you look into it further Butez passing stats are better also
