Can't see this at all to be honest. And 25m is possibly on the low side. Way out of our league I'd have thought.

The thing with Flemming that, potentially, makes him better than Twine is that he is much stronger and much better at playing with his back to goal.

That means he could play in the number 10 role, or play as a false 9 for us as Rodriguez did so well in the early part of last season.

In my opinion yes.

He’s just had a very strong season. 15 goals and 3 assists in 42 games from midfield is pretty impressive. Even more impressive when you consider the team he has done in it as well.
Are you basing that solely on the figures you’ve mentioned or have you seen enough of both to make that call?

Maybe we could then have a thread called Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and DISCUSSION.
This is my last post on this master, or i'll fall into the same category of filling up the thread with non-transfer discussion.

Just in case it isn't clear, the discussion in the title, means 'discussion on transfer rumours'. Not discussion on anything that takes your fancy.

I’ve only seen Fleming play 2-3 times. From that very short viewing time I personally think he is a better player.

Flemming had a really excellent season

Twine is just not ready for the Prem and VK knows it. He needs to go out on loan where he can play most weeks in the Championship where he can toughen up and build up his confidence. Just look at how McNally has benefitted from an excellent half season at Coventry.. For me a lot was built around him when we first got him, and there were high expectations as a result, but apart from several sublime free kicks he has been very disappointing. Readers will highlight several good things he did in several games but in the Prem your players have to be at the top of their game virtually every minute for the club to succeed.Plus there were certain games where VK just did not pick him because of the physicality of the opposition. A club our size just cannot afford to do this

Mamardashvili is probably the best young keeper in Europe. I really couldn’t see that one happening but he’d be a bigger coup than Verbruggen.

Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee has indicated that he would be tempted by the chance to reunite with Vincent Kompany at Premier League newcomers Burnley:

“Has Kompany called yet? No, although I am in contact with many other Burnley staff.”

“Not necessarily about a transfer. But if Vinny calls, it might open a door that I would like to walk through.”
I would love to see him come to Burnley. Very technical player that fits the system well. Can do just about anything on the ball. Dribble, great vision and passing. Good shot even from a distance. Good headers, he's quite tall as well. Playing style reminding of a young Frank Rijkaard.

Still not too expensive lucky for us. Kompany can definitely get the best out of him, he did great for Anderlecht and the supporters were gutted to see him leave. Potential to become a top striker.

Doesn’t seem to have worked out at Bologna though, hence the ‘come and get me’ plea.

Well the title of the thread is pretty clear and definitely not how you are choosing to interpret it. Pretty obvious that it is for rumours, links and discussion about the current transfer window. And discussions about how our transfer strategy may differ from previously fits very much into this category. So it’s not really anybody else’s problem if the content of the thread isn’t what you want it to be.

I note it’s your last post on the matter so no need to respond, but I think it’s fair to point out your misinterpretation of the thread title. One of my bug bears on here is people attempting to stifle discussion when it’s something they don’t want to read. This isn’t anybody’s personal chat space, it’s a discussion forum.

Looking at the training photos, Twine has already put on some muscle.

Twine had some really good games towards the end of the season and I think the concerns about his strength are greatly overstated. It's not a fair comparison because he played a lot less but his goals and assists per 90 were better than Flemming's last season.

Twine got some welcome opportunities right at the back end of the season and imo he didn't disappoint, not withstanding his bad, but ultimately irrelevant miss against Cardiff. His lack of stature might or might not be an issue in the higher league, but in my opinion he did enough to show he's got the skills which deserve to be given a chance. Ultimately though, nobody knows what's required to succeed at PL level more than VK and we'll see what his take on the lad is in the fullness of time.

I'd be very disappointed if Twine is on the fringes next season. There are goals from his amazing free kick ability and he makes excellent runs which just need the right ball played into him. I cannot see his physical stature being an issue here.
I would not be disappointed if any new signings were heavily biased towards central midfield to give Brownhill competition. I like him but don't think he has the required guile at the top level. Certainly don't want to see him sold.
While I'm happy to see how Foster and Obafemi do because I'm seriously questioning Jay's fitness to myself I hope we push the boat out finally for a striker good at holding the ball and linking up play.
Please stop trying to stifle good discussion

Why is it Flemming in and Twine out?
Surely we need options and a squad if we are going to compete in any way. Both would possibly offer some goal threat and both look technically good players. Flemming seems to have a great strike from distance in him and we all know Twine's ability from free kicks (he also looks a little livelier in the box).

Our squad at the moment is well short, we have lost key players in:

Maatsen
Tella
Barnes
THB (but we have gained O'Shea)

That's without the doubts which linger over a couple of other players due to consistency, ability or age. We need additions not departures of anymore first choice squad players.

Apart from playing the same position I do not see the resemblance.

Twine probably needs a year on loan in the championship.

We can choose 9 substitutes this season as well, giving us more options from the bench. VK will want competition for every position. I anticipate us to have much more depth than we’ve been used to in recent years.

VK will give the cup competitions a fair shot as well, he’s a winner, and that mentality will never leave him. I suspect things will kick in to life in the next week or so

You never know in football , I don't think we need them but then I don't know anything about how the money people at the club think.
I think it would send out a certain message and if it happened that way it would be another bit of the development of the club that would take time to get used to.
In an ideal world we'd all like to think of additions not the departures of players like Brownhill who have been here for a few seasons and is loved by players and fans alike.
I don't believe Brownhill would want to go and maybe I'm speculating

Where does it stop though?
Send Foster out for a loan?
Send Obefemi out for a loan?
Send O'Shea out for a loan

We have to give what we have got the chance to develop at the highest level under Kompany surely ?

I say let's give what we've got a chance and support them with 2-3 other good signings

A good team spirit always outweighs a team full of names and we are ahead of the game here

Can’t see why some people rave about Scott Twine, and how good he was at the end of the season,ok he takes a nice free kick, but he’s not a “bites ye legs “ midfielder,he doesn’t create many chances for others ,he hasn’t got a quarter of the skills that Benson,Tella ,or Zaroury have ,how many shots did he have on target from open play last season, nothing against the lad ,but if it had been a normal close season where we only signed a couple of players ,I reckon he’d be in the same group as Stephens ,and Weghorst.

This may read like it's ' Off the Wall' , however.....

In our last PL season despite the absolutely awful way we played, Brownhill had a 'golden' spell at home against Liverpool and another top team I can't remember. He simply bossed the midfield in both second halves.
Scouts don't forget players like this and together with his brilliant leadership skills and ability to get a crowd going I don't underestimate his worth to other teams

I'm not saying the likes of Liverpool will come in but I think he's on the radar of other PL teams because of this and his future potential. He has by no means reached his ceiling

If you don't agree with this , remember it's my personal opinion and that of nobody else

Twine takes up some superb positions and many many times last season he just simply wasn't seen by our midfielders - that's why our midfield signings have to be much better than what we have - not sure we can afford it though. Twine isn't the problem

I think VK appreciates Bronwhills work rate and high press . It’s the quality on the ball that isn’t quite there for the Prem in his case. Find him the right role however and he’s a very useful player. I can’t see him leaving this summer .

We do need two new incomings capable of playing in central midfield though.

I've done it! Rumours as.the thread title says and finally had the courage to put in a post what I've heard from someone who swears blind

It wasn't directed at you , sorry you interpreted it that way which I understand because you asked the question. So many snipers around I have to have all rooftops covered .

I don’t comment on individual players very often for personal reasons.

You are a tease but it must be for a good reason. Did you go on the games I mentioned ?

Like who ?
Brownhill has been linked with West Ham previously and quite prominently when we went down. Brentford also.

Think other teams like Bournemouth and Leeds have also been mentioned in January. No links so far this year as far as I am aware

My third G&T has prompted me to ask you ' Are you Stan Ternent and did you sign a 30 year non disclosure agreement in your compensation package?

I’ll mention that question next time I see him 😂 Indeed I am not he but I have known him on a personal level for

Also tell him Elizabeth conceded it was a stupid question as he wouldn't be able to turn on a computer anyway 😆

I rarely talk football with football people … I find many of them like to talk about my subject when I tell them what I do. Suits me - I watch football as a fan . I don’t pretend to be a tactical expert , and on that basis I wouldn’t want to be talking rubbish to professionals.
