Interesting, could be a tongue in cheek comment, but I suspect there’s a bit of realisation for him that he’s more than likely going to be second choice.HahaYeah wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 6:19 pmMuric quote from earlier today :
Manchester City’s James Trafford and Antwerp’s Jean Butez are among the other names linked with the Clarets, while Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s future is also uncertain.
When asked how it would feel to play in the Premier League, Muric grinned: “I’ll tell you how I feel if I start!”

You really think he's already accepted he will be number 2 to someone we haven't signed yet? He knows someones coming in for competition for his place. He's a pro sportsman he will fighting tooth and nail for that spot but I guess CM knows better!!

Having players compete for a spot is considered healthy for every other position. I don’t get why GK is always considered different, and that there should be an undisputed number 1.

Never played the position but is it possible that it’s between the ears. You wouldn’t want your keeper sweating that any mistakes and he’s out.davideyresleftear wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 7:23 pmHaving players compete for a spot is considered healthy for every other position. I don't want the keeper getting complacent either because there's no one of sufficient quality to challenge himTricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 7:28 pmNever played the position but is it possible that it’s between the ears. Can't believe he'd accept being 2nd choice after moving away from city on a permanent to be first choice somewhere.

I kept goal in senior football for about 20 years. I would say that my best seasons were when I was told I'd be first choice, it's good for the confidence.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 7:28 pmNever played the position but is it possible that it’s between the ears. Exactly, he knows he will have to be on his best form. Hence why we need two decent keepers.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 7:34 pmPeople see/interpret things how they want.

Wonder if Muric’s night out in Munich towards the end of the season didn’t go down well with Kompany?

Muric was asked in the recent club interview on Clarets+ and YouTube. I also thought it was pretty telling he said 'if' I start.
Just shows how open Kompany is with his players, and it's great to see everyone is kept on their toes.

I recall England Captain Bobby Moore's comment to England Manager Sir Alf Ramsey following the final international match of a season - "See you in September."
..and Sir Alf's response - "If selected."
Perhaps Muric is just grounded.

Intriguing clip on Instagram where Bailey PF is asked to describe Muric and he calls him ‘a big dope’ and a ‘session wrecker’ which Aro agreed with! Wonder if VK is a bit fed up with him not taking things on board or being in his own world a bit too much. For the record, I think he’s earned the right to be number one for next season but we’ll see.

All the assumptions about muric, it seems pretty simple that kompany doesn’t see BPF being close to number 1 and he wants 2 keepers who can fight to start each week, muric shirt to lose right now, if a new keeper comes in and impresses in training and Friendlies then they will start

I'm not sure, but didn't Ihenacho fail miserably in the lone striker role, and only really excelled for Leicester as part of a two (with Vardy)?

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Iheanacho has proven to be a slightly better than 1 in 5 striker in this league, but I would imagine a lot of those performances have been from the bench also which probably makes his stats better than they appear. I wouldn't say no but unsure what salary he is on - he'd be a decent loan if that was possible.

Iheanacho would be one hell of a signing. Think Leicester would have been a lot better off last season if they'd accepted Vardy was past it earlier and gone with him.

Iheanacho had a quite remarkable spell of goalscoring in the Premier League in the second half of the 21/22 season when he had a sustained run of starts in the team. Think Vardy was out injured.
