Pity,he doesn’t seem to be very good compared to some of the striker names being bandied about.

I'm wondering if he's worth that, only had a year left on his contract and he wasn't all that last season
Well worth it. Better than most and has a good as a free kick as ward prowse
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
He is looking like a young Axel Witsel out there. Composed strong and not taking risks. If he comes it would be to rotate with Cullen or play together against stronger teams. They have a bit the same profile. Best position defensive midfielder. He's a very promising young midfielder but with alot of power and good technical ability. Seems like a perfect profile for Premier League football.
Very useful hard working player. Even though he's young you know what you are going to get. Physicality, agressive, winning duels, good on the ball. Good transfer for Burnley if it would come through. Let him grow under Vinnie's wings and become a complete midfielder. He'll fit well in the system.

I wonder if McNally and Thomas are the 2 players being offered to Coventry as makeweights to get the Gyokeres deal over the line.
They’re actively looking to improve their back line and Thomas had an excellent season for Barnsley, last year, fitting into the centre and right back positions.
They’re both relatively young with the ability to improve and possibly to be sold at a profit at some time in the future.
This would be excellent business for Coventry as Robbins seeks to improve the strength of his squad

I tend to dip in and out of this thread to check on transfer news.
Would I be right in saying that, since the end of the Season we have lost Tella, Maatsen, THB and Barnes and have Beyer coming in plus a couple of lads for the future.
So, clearly, we are much weaker now than last Season.
Roll on the next few weeks when I hope/feel we will see 3 or 4 first team (as opposed to squad) signings!
Good times!

They have an excellent keeper in Ben Wilson. Unless they are thinking to move him on I’d be surprised if they want BPF.

I don’t think he has a nailed down position.
This season he has played 6 at CM, 6 at Rb and 6 at left back by the looks of it

Very good young player made his debut at 17 years old under Kompany and looked like a young copy of him. Strong in the air winning headers. Can play all defensive positions. Great technique, good mentality, still only 18 years of age.
Honestly Anderlecht management are straight up idiots for letting him go. Especially for anywhere under 15m. Lucky for Burnley the new Danish assistant coach from Brighton doesn't think he's all that. Same for other massive talents he's been letting go.
Would be awesome to see Kompany get him and continue improving him. Can't go wrong here.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Just been reading though the tweets from that Belgian Sacha fella who seems to be reliable enough on these matters.
Latest seems to be we’re very interested in the goalkeeper Butez, the midfielder Vranckx, and now the young defender who he says has been the subject of a rejected bid and we need add ons and sell on percentages to finalise the deal.
Things certainly seem busy out there for us at the moment. All that from just the one reporter.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I'm really hoping we can get Tella and Gyokeres + another striker and left back (to offer some competition for Taylor, which I don't see coming from Vitinho). Another winger would be a bonus.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Like I said yesterday Gyokeres is going to sporting....20m plus 35percent sell on.... We ain't matching that.. thankfullyIm_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 6:37 pmI'm really hoping we can get Tella and Gyokeres + another striker and left back (to offer some competition for Taylor, which I don't see coming from Vitinho). Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
We've got Bayer, plus another excellent centre back from West Brom (O'Shea), and an excellent replacement for Norris, (the keeper from Orient), plus the young lads that you reference. So not that much weaker, but obviously if we don't sign Maatsen and Tella then we need to replace them, but with the number of players we are linked with I don't think we'll be going into the new season weaker than we finished last season.CaptainKirk wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 2:37 pmI tend to dip in and out of this thread to check on transfer news.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Given the current age/quality of our central strikers this needs to be our No1 priority for a new starter before the season begins
Jay will be 34 before the new season gets going
Foster looked a bit raw and struggling last season in the Championship never mind the Premier League this year
Obafemi couldn't get a league start last season
Brownhill and Twine will not be able to lead the line and would even question them as a No 10

1. Finances will dictate some of our business and Chelsea/Southampton may want more money than we are prepared to pay - it may well be that given their form last year other teams may also show an interest
2. It's also finding new players who want to come on the journey with us when we may still seen by them as potential for going back down
VK and Pace will no doubt be giving 100% effort but that does not bring guarantees
