But do you think Kane would score less goals next season if this same Spurs team were in the Championship?
But it is not a question of whole teams it is about one player.

For example you put the whole City team from this season in the Championship next season and someone like Haaland would be scoring 80+ goals.

You put Haaland in Rotherham's team next season and he ain't getting anywhere near the same amount of goals.

So it’s harder to score goals in the Premier League. That’s my point.

It's probably product marketing for the shirt he is wearing. Taking some photos for when they do adverts on Social Media etc.

In comparison to what though? I can only compare Gyokeres to the strikers we have had that played in the Champ and either failed to/or did made the grade at the level above, and he's certainly demonstrated he's a much better player than most of them at this stage of his career. Out of recent times these strikers come to mind:

Vokes, Barnes, Gray, Vydra, Wood, Wells, Ings. The only one who looked to have a better game than him was Ings, and that's hardly a surprise given he's probably the most talented forward we have had in recent memory, but apart from him Gyokeres (at this stage of his career) is levels ahead of the rest of them, the stats (goals and assists) back this up, but so does how he has preformed for Coventry over the last 2 years. He put in a good preformance against us (without scoring) and Kompany commented on it.
I don’t really get this. Gray, Wood and Vydra all had very similar stats to Gyokeres when they were in the Champ (for us and other teams). What makes you think he will step up better than any of them did?

I've explained it pretty comprehensively in the post that you have said you "don't get". Gyokeres actually has an all round game, the stats support this. None of the others got anywhere near the 12 assists he got this year. In terms of goals they may be similar but as I said in my post that's what sets them apart, Gyokeres is not just about goals, he has far more to his game.

All I have to go on is the Play-off final. He was hardly involved in the first half but came to life when Coventry were pressing for a goal and reminded me of a young Jay, with lots of energy, pace and awareness.

£20m for an International striker is peanuts. We might get lucky and pick an unknown, to us, but then he has to come off. Many on here are of the opinion that both Foster and Obafemi haven’t so possibly VK knows more about CBs and widemen than he does about strikers.
I think Foster could come good but he needs to start bagging early or his confidence will be shot and he’ll become another Juke or Weghorst.
There is far more to Gyokeres than goals. He’s a hard working line leader with pace. He could be perfect in our system with a good number 10 behind him but if he wants to go to Lisbon let him go and move on.

Of course it's a debate, I've stated why I think Gyokeres could step up in response to another poster who disagreed, that's great, it's what the messageboard is for. You on the other hand have attempted some sarcastic response that has no relevance to the post.

I can only assume its because you have nothing to add, if you do then please do so? But if not, just stop being a berk, pretty simple really.

I disagree mainly because I think the defending and goalkeeping in the PL is far superior. But I would say that I think some players (such as Barnes) sometimes seem to be extra effective in the PL because they've grown up with a different style of football through the lower leagues. I'd say there are very few though. Players like Kane were still developing as footballers. Rickie Lambert is probably a good example even though he scored less in the PL than the previous championship year but he did still step up remarkably.

From what I've seen of Gyokeres he's fast, strong, links up well and works his socks off

I'd be happy to push the boat out for him to be honest, but I think we have to bear in mind that we need at least 1 x GK, 1 x CM, 1 x LW, 1 x LB at the very least as well, and we haven't got infinite amounts to play with
it wouldn't surprise me if we filled 2 of those spots with the permitted PL loans

Hopefully Gomez and Lokonga for the two loan spots. So that's LB and CM

And then a dream window right now would be:

Vrankx for CM
Butez for GK
Tresor for LW
Tella for FW

I'd even be happy for Weg to stay and lead the line if our business looked like that.

I can dream right

Cannot get excited for Butez for whatever reason. If the Verbruggen deal is dead, I’m not so fussed about a keeper.

I’d love to see Mikautadze on that list. Also see Tresor coming if the rumours about Clarke and Flemming are true :(

Going through the squad list we have 25 players already who were >21 on Jn 1st this year. Exclude Booby Thomas and Lewis then the squad I think is down to 23
Going to be a few leaving or going out on loan if we sign more than another two players

Someone saying that some players are maybe better suited to the Premier League than the Championship being interpreted as “it’s easier in the premier league” sums this board up.

Especially when you consider that it’s based upon a discussion about a young, foreign import who was used sparingly when in the Championship.

I’m not saying Foster is the next Harry Kane but he’s a good example of someone that as a youngster didn’t do a lot at lower levels but then when he got a chance in the premier league, a little older and more mature, smashed it at a higher level. There will be lots of other less obvious ones.

People are being far too premature in writing Foster off.

Mislav Orsic to Trabzonspor on a permanent deal.

Played just 5 games for Southampton.

May well have dodged a bullet, there.

We’ve been sold a pup with pony Foster. It happens.

As long as we get some quality in up front over the summer it shouldn’t matter too much.

A spell at somewhere like Bolton or Barnsley might be good for him on loan for a bit. If he can manage to find a bit of form in League One then maybe he can find a Championship club in the new year.

Enough of this rubbish, you’ve got your attention. Down to business…

What would you suggest would be a ‘good’ season for Foster in the Premier League?

Just that we’ve bid for both Jack Clarke & Zian Flemming.

If they are true I can only imagine we’re not interested in Tresor. Or we were, but he’s now got bigger offers.

Interestingly I heard something yesterday about the number of players we’ve enquired about/are talking to & it’s a staggering number (to me at least) so hardly surprising that lots of names are cropping up & we certainly won’t be signing them all.

Of the links we’ve had, Verbruggen, Lokonga, Tresor & Mikautadze would be the ones I’m most excited about.

I'd knock the first one off your list

Jota (Celtic) off to Saudi (Al Ittihad). I know the younger generation are more prone to following the player than the club: you only have to look at the cult of personality around Ronaldo. It may be a trend or it may be more enduring than that but there is no future for football without attachment to clubs. Its another reason why I'll never watch a Saudi league game, no matter who is playing in it. I have to have some investment in the result, not just who wins player of the match.

Enough of this rubbish, you’ve got your attention. Down to business…

What would you suggest would be a ‘good’ season for Foster in the Premier League?
For Foster himself? I think it would be good for him if he managed to make the match day squad a few times.

He'll make every matchday squad, unless injured

Now we’ve established your parameters for a successful season for Foster in the Premier League, let’s bet.

£50 to a charity says he makes the match day squad a few times.

Only way I see him not starting a number of the first 5-10 games is if he doesn’t score, personally I see him doing okay he has enough in his locker to cause prem teams issues.

Hopefully Gomez and Lokonga for the two loan spots. So that's LB and CM

And then a dream window right now would be:

Vrankx for CM
Butez for GK
Tresor for LW
Tella for FW

I'd even be happy for Weg to stay and lead the line if our business looked like that.

I can dream right
Why not Origi? He scored a ton of important goals for Liverpool, knows the league. Can do about everything you'd ask from a striker. He should be fairly cheap to get atm. Can be our first striker maybe?

Mislav Orsic to Trabzonspor on a permanent deal.

Played just 5 games for Southampton.

May well have dodged a bullet, there.

6 premier league minutes....

Strong bare arse in Burton's window potential here

Maybe, but sometimes it just doesn't happen at certain clubs. Did he have THAT much of a chance there? Seemed like he didn't get a proper run. Probably didn't help that the manager was sacked a month later. Here, he probably would have been afforded more time and may have excelled in the different setup, but I guess we'll never know now.
