Appreciate Palmer took a bit of a kicking last night but he looked poor. I have seen him play well for City but it’s easier surrounded by the quality he is there. So desperate to cut back onto his left peg and the Spanish defenders knew it.

I just said that I didn’t think that player ratings were a good barometer which is why I wouldn’t use them to prove a point. RVclaret just said that the player ratings showed that most people thought Muric was excellent when in fact the player ratings actually showed nothing of the sort.
Without a top goalkeeper in the premier league you're struggling. At the top if you're trying to win things, or at the bottom if you're trying to survive. We know that l too well. Muric was absolutely great in the championship behind the best team in the league, and he certainly improved a great deal. A very good goalkeeper. But it tells you everything you need to know that VK splashed the cash on Trafford. If he had faith in Muric's ability to step up, we dont spend that on a goalkeeper with our budget. Simple.VK is very much in the "no room for sentimentality" camp, andhe obviously thought i) we needed an upgrade and ii) Trafford is that upgrade. Lots of chat about his inexperience, but I'm darn sure VK has done his research. In short, I agree with you.

Well no, the scale may be off, but the ranking vs others in the team is consistent. Therefore, if you believe that the team had an excellent season, and the player ratings are actually reasonable in ranking performance - then it puts him in the top performers. If you don't believe they are valuable at all, then you won't.

I believe the former - I've made the point regularly, I've seen players score Hat tricks and get 7's / 8's - it's bizarre.
You’ve forgotten to factor in that the majority of Burnley fans refuse to mark based on the game they’ve just watched. They mark based on their views/opinions of that player that they made in the first ten minutes of a pre season game when a player first arrived at the club and have defended resolutely since.

Some people just use this board to remain ‘relevant’ in retirement.

I don't get the obsessions with wasting 5 pages of a transfer thread slagging of Muric or justifying him leaving if Trafford comes in.

All that is pertinent to this thread is the fact Trafford is or isn't joining us.
Given we’re signing a goalkeeper, I don’t see the issue in posters discussing our goalkeeping situation.

It would help soften the opinions if people could take some responsibility for how their words could be interpreted.

I don’t think people are too far apart on Muric actually
Totally agree. People pick a side and defend it regardless of the discussion. It’s usually the same group and individuals who just seem to wake up and choose arrogance/violence.

🛫 Soumaïla #Coulibaly, on his way to @BurnleyOfficial now. Medical scheduled for tomorrow. #BVB

It’s a loan with a mandatory option to buy in 2024 - confirmed. First call @FabrizioRomano.

➡️ Price next year: Around €16-18m!

Mandatory option? :D :D :D

Most reporters suggest that we must buy him next summer. Hope VK and the team have got this one right.

I do not expect either of these outcomes, but let's just say (a) he turns out to be not that good, and (b) we get relegated...are we still commited to pay €16m in that case ? Surely there must be some guarantees involved ?

You'd hope that in the event of relegation we wouldn't have to buy him. It's hard to imagine the people at the club putting it at such risk by committing tens of millions of pounds whatever happens, but we just don't know.

Hey Random there’s a few German articles that say it’s only mandatory if the player reaches are certain amount of appearances this season.

I suspect if the player is hitting the level appearances required then he must have been successful.

Perhaps the obligation to buy could be on condition we remain in the PL.

Our young centre half Bobby Thomas appears to be someone in demand. He has benefitted hugely from recent loans in the lower divisions. Now Cardiff, QPR and Rangers of Scotland showing interest in him.Michael Duff at Swansea could also be keen, having had him at Barnsley. We might see him pair up with Jimmy Dunne at QPR.

Very likely the deal has clauses like survival and appearances. Once we hit either clauses we have to sign him.

I.e wood at forest , he had something stupid like 5 appearances in his deal

From what I remember, he was excellent for them early on. But coming back from an ACL is going to be a big ask at the latter stages of his career.

Didn’t he score an absolute screamer against us for Everton?
Yes. A game we seemed in control of and lost in a crazy 15 minute spell.

Not sure I’m overly keen on signing Townsend tbh. Right winger when we’ve already got Benson. Was hoping for a Tella/Diallo/Palmer to compete with Benson there. That’s without mentioning he’s not played football for over 12 months.
