Leeds rumoured to be in discussions to re-sign Taylor
I hope for his sake he gets a decent move. He won’t get a sniff with us this season. Don’t want him to go out like Lowton.

So if we did a swap for instance, it would mean we need 2 left backs.

Yeah. If we let Taylor go then I’d say that VK is confident of getting replacements in. Vitinho has played on the left though.

Less chance of Charlie playing this year, as I am convinced VK has a LB earmarked. Charlie needs to find a club quickly and integrate into pre-season, and bed in. He is still a very good defender but not best suited to our style of play. If he hangs around our club he could well become another Matt Lawton

I agree and feel sure it involves Ian maatsen or Sergio gomez, or both in some way or other. Maybe vk has discussed that pep has a real good look at gomez pre season but with a date in mind to make a decision wether to allow him on loan or if not by that time maybe chelski would accept less than £20/25m for maatsen, although would be cutting it fine, but I really doubt that Charlie will figure in vk's plans.

No way we can risk Vitinho at left back
He is a squad utility player at best and should not be starting in the Premier League

I think he will kick on. Played all over the park last year, did a job never moaned and as a young player in a new country. There is a player there.

Completely agree but I was just saying that he has played left back so we wouldn’t be without one if necessary

I have a feeling that we will play 4 CBs across the back.

Coulibaly
Beyer
Ameen
OShea

Huh, I'd misremembered that, my mistake. Could have sworn he didn't do anything after the change.

Sean Dyche has apparently rekindled his interest in signing Weghorst. We’ll wouldn’t that be just dandy.

I think we will play the Christmas tree on a stand formation.

3, 1 , 3, 2,1

3 Centre backs, Cullen, 3 fluids, 2 wingers, 1 false forward.

You need two CDMs if you're playing three at the back or you're too exposed because there's too much pitch width to cover with just four players (3+1) holding the defence. Cullen would be one of the CDMs, the other would be either a new CDM signing, or the fullback rotating into the CDM role when needed — Connor Roberts or maybe O'Shea.

Pretty much only N'Golo Kante can do the single pivot job because his stamina and endurance is completely insane. Even Rodri, one of the best CDMs on earth, plays with someone beside him.

Unfortunately all going quiet at the moment regarding rumours and comments from agents about potential successful bids. Even Traffords medical didn’t take place as planned yesterday, so although no untoward comments been made about that.

The people whinging about the thread are way more tiresome than the ones having a discussion about what tactics we might play and how that’ll inform our transfer strategy.

Those who don't like this thread because of the discussion element of it have the freedom to ignore it and/or use the transfer window thread with no discussion. It can be found on the third page with the most recent post a week ago - it can be reignited but those who just want to post and refer to web links to rumours.

It becomes tedious when people post stuff they’ve read on a modern day coaching website about our current players not being able to play ‘on the turn’ or the amazing in depth knowledge they have built up ready to share for every player ever linked.

I think we need to draw a line under everything and move on. Every year this thread stirs emotions up in people, some out of frustration, some out of not quite getting their point across how they wanted to, and the problem with text is it does not convey the emotion it is written in, so for example where the same conversation with someone you didn't know in a pub for a pre match pint would have absolutely gone down well and both left the conversation very amicably, the same cant be said here. Above all else please remember there are people behind that keyboard or phone or whatever device is being used, and they are more thank likely Clarets fans with same goal as you in wanting the best for our club. I have seen some personal insults between posters on this thread that the Mods have dealt with, but also against players, and whether or not players look at boards like this, I have no idea but the potential for it is a lot bigger now when you look at the age profile of the team we have now, and I have seen insults to players and one of those being Lyle Foster. To hit home the effect of what you could potentially be adding to no matter how big or small you believe the significance of your post is, please remember people behind the device reading this board may be having their own issues and you could be the tipping point.
Taio posted above there is an option of thread to read if the discussions on here are aggravating you, and I for one will try to keep that thread updated where possible with just links. we are all one so lets move on to what could be a fantastic season, following I think we can all agree on, an unbelievable last season, and I also wish Lyle and anyone else struggling all the best.

Tella would make all the difference I think. I realise he’s not a ‘striker’ per se, but he takes some of the pressure off whoever we’re playing through the middle (be that Weghorst or someone new) because he is a goalscorer. I think his pace, pressing, movement and energy will be just as effective against at least half of the teams in this league. Please make it happen!

Totally agree, it is his all round game that fits our new ethos, he can counter better than anyone I have seen in Claret whether that be ball to feet, in front ground pass or through the air with exceptional control and pinpoint shots, but also the speed of him in going forward, back and the press is just what we need.

Lots of people talking about three at the back but there's no way Kompany will suddenly switch to a new system after having the season we did last time, especially when he played in a back four for virtually his entire club career.

Either he's going to play a CB in a different position or someone will get shipped out, maybe on loan.

Everton in for Vardy who can depart from Leicester for a small fee (1 year left on his contract)

Should we make a cheeky bid?

Or we’ll just have some good quality back ups.

Sad to read about Fosters struggles with depression. That will definitely impact his performance and confidence on the pitch. I hope we can give him the support he needs.
