We have learned enough about Vinny to know he does rotate a lot, and knows the PL is mentally and physically draining for young players. So I suspect the concept of first choice is limited to just a few players like Beyer.

If, say, we had Zaroury / Redmond on the left, and Benson / Palmer on the right, I’d be very content with those four and wouldn’t care who starts.

I think the idea that Zaroury wasn't still a very good player for the 2nd half of the season is more than a little unfair
He was weaker than in the first half but that's not something unexepected. He is 22 years old, of course his form is going to change from time to time.

Which Zaroury?
The one who was magnificent for the first half of the season, or the one who looked tired and short of confidence (for the most part) in the last quarter of the season?
Zaroury was double marked after the world cup because teams identified him as a threat.
His form dipped too but he was still brilliant.

I thought Zaroury was strong all season. However his end product seemed to drop in the second half of the season. It was almost like he did the hard work but then his cross or shot let him down.

Probably tiredness after a hard season

I didn't say that he wasn't still a good player, but his form dipped late in the season and he lost his "shooting boots", so having someone like Redmond available to come in for a few games to rest him would have been ideal (IMO).

True to a degree but Benny was double marked and smashed all season
Triple marked at Ewood and Quadruple marked at Bristol City and he did his stuff despite that
Zaroury seemed a little less determined and focussed when he came back from the World Cup, reminded me of Cornet when he came back from ANC
Just an edge missing in both cases

I think he's one of the players that Kompany alludes to as someone that will go all the way to the top, there's work to be done but he looks to have all the tools

Then what’s your point and what is the relevance mentioning his post WC form? There’s obvious factors why his form could’ve dropped off a little for the second half of the season, Redmond would still be behind him in the pecking order for me. The Championship is a 46 game long physical slog for a new player and he didn’t even get the WC break off.

I thought that he'd dropped initially at first, but then I watched stuff like the goal Benson scores against Rovers, and its a bit of nifty footwork and skill from Zaroury that makes the space for the pass, which is then spread out to Benson and the rest is history

To be honest, he spent too long trying to replicate the stunner at Sunderland but like everyone else in that team, the teams displays were superb (with one or two exceptions) till the end of the season

I think that just about everyone understands and agrees with my point - indeed you make it yourself in this post.
Zaroury isn't going to play for 90 minutes plus for all 38 league games (+ Cup Games).
There were many occasions towards the end of last season - "a long physical slog" as you say - when VK would have rested Zaroury or replaced him after say 60 minutes had we had a player of Redmond's ability in the squad.
Why do you think we are linked with several quality right wingers? It's a squad game.

I still don’t understand your point, you’re basically agreeing with my initial post where I said “Redmond would be a good addition, provide good backup for Anass and allow us to spend elsewhere”?

"Journalist James McNicholas has suggested that Burnley would rather sign Albert Sambi Lokonga permanently as they do not want to use one of their loan spots on the Arsenal midfielder.

McNicholas was speaking on his YouTube channel as Arsenal now look to move some players on after welcoming a number of marquee signings in the summer transfer window."

Interestingly, Lokonga isn't in the squad for Arsenal's US tour

These threads always follow a similar pattern. Starting off with an air of optimism that the club is planning to conclude a major part of transfer business early to enable a full pre season for new signings, which then turns to a whiff of desperation as the clock ticks down and kick off for the new season approaches. :)

That has already been said about our interest to sign him on that basis four weeks ago. Nothing new there then. Hopefully one of those that’s as good as done and just waiting for the creative video team to think of a reveal video.

Amdouni stats:

22 years old
22 goals for Basel last season
5 caps 5 goals for Swiss international team

Watching the good old Tube he is clearly our alternative to Mikautadze - profile incredibly similar. Looks quality!

I’ve noticed that over half of his professional appearances have come as an attacking midfielder. Certainly looks like this is a player to sit in a hole just behind Weghorst

Amdouni, great football skills, good football brain, quick and direct. Of all the YouTube highlights I've seen relating to possible signings, those rank very highly.

Nice to see an new name linked. Reminds me of Danny Ings a little, based on his YouTube clips. As someone same above, looks similar to the Georgian lad Mikatautze(sp) we've been linked with. Decent scoring record and a good age.

Yet again an example of how well we can manage to keep things under wraps. He hadn’t been named even once as a link until today and it appears it’s almost done.

Amdouni looks like a number 9 to me. Definitely got the physicality for it.

Looks like Redmond could be on his way too.

According to Wiki he's actually contracted to Lausanne-Sport but on a 2 year loan to Basel (with another year to run). If that's the case we're probably going to have to do what United did and negotiate once to end the loan early and once with his parent club.

Scratch that... according to Transfer market, he joined Basel for 4m euros in July so they must have had a buy option in the loan.

I was just about to say it looks like they made his loan permanent but only this month. Can't be often a club signs someone and sells him a few weeks later for significant profit. I'm assuming the fee is going to be around 10m euros +, as Lazio and others were rumoured for between 12-15m earlier in the window.
