Mail reporting Trafford will have his medical on Wednesday. That's about fifth time he's doing it.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
After what has happened with Tella and Maatsen I would much rather us sign players rather than loan them. So losing out on Palmer to Brighton doesn't really bother me.

We had 4 key players on loan last season. Getting two loans in to help us compete in the Prem is a given.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 4:04 pmthing is though if he comes in he has to play and that will harm the development of players we've bought
As for Palmer he’d feature in every game with us, not sure Brighton can say the same.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Don’t really understand that logic - they played a key role in achieving last seasons goals. Now we’re in a different season (and still might get one / both btw).

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
If we can bring in Lokonga, another winger and a left back then we’re in great shape in my opinion (assuming Redmond and the Swiss lad are done deals).
It’s pure speculation, but good fun. The players are there for this, if Weghorst is staying or we intend to replace him with a similar profile. Looks a good side to me (Roberts to move up into a midfield three when we’re in possession). Brownhill in a three instead of one of the strikers against the likes of City etc…

Feels like we need to go all out to finish off the deal for Lokonga or another Centre mid after this, and get a final decision on Maatsen or source an alternative. The first choice team would be almost there for me (again, dependant on Weghorst - he’ll need replacing too if he goes).

Redmond of course played 4 months with Wout last season, always helps.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Similar style to Tella only difference is he's actually proven himself at the highest levels. Tella wasn't a goalscorer until last season maybe Redmond will make the same runs and get some goals. I think it's great business on a freedavideyresleftear wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 4:17 pmI’m weirdly excited about redmond, I think he’ll surprise a few people

I, for one, won't be surprised. Redmond's an excellent player close to international standard. He'd make it into at least half of European national sides.davideyresleftear wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 4:17 pmI’m weirdly excited about redmond, I think he’ll surprise a few people

Much better than your average troll DAswissguy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 2:07 pmHello everyone. As an FC Basel fan my view on your new striker Zeki Amdouni: Amdouni will join Burnley FC for a fee rumoured to be above 15 million euros according to the most reliable sources around FC Basel. He‘s a player capable of playing as the number 9 or behind the striker. Having only joined Basel last summer on loan (with buy option) from Lausanne he straightaway was their best player in my opinion, even though he didn’t start scoring regularly until the start of this year. His abilty in tight spaces, technical abilities and game intelligence are amazing. He can finish off either foot and scores some headers as well. He‘s fairly quick on the first few metres but lacks some pace afterwards. it will be interesting to see how he can adapt to the physical demands of the PL. Wherever he‘s been it always took him some months to get comfortable and start scoring so give him time before you judge him.

They're in a much better position to pay any clause City may include in the deal for not playing him enough.

I don't know why people are putting Weghorst int their teams....I doubt very much he'll be here come September. He's training to stay fit/get sharp...but he won't want to stop at Burnley.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Interesting snippet from Andy Jones in the Athletic re. Coulibaly
‘The 19-year-old was set for a medical last week but a small medical concern was flagged and with Burnley agreeing a mandatory buy option of £15million for next summer, the club walked away.‘

BBC running the story of Redmond now.
Looks like, fingers crossed, we could have Trafford, Redmond, and Amdouni sewn up by the end of the week.
That would be brilliant and leaves us needing a left back and defensive mid before the end of the window as the real priority areas.

Very happy about Redmond - he’s a supremely talented player and I’m sure Kompany will get the most out of him.
No idea about this Swiss lad but 5 goals in 5 for the national team is pretty good going!
It’ll all come good folks, the transfers will be rolling in now

Some Swiss people speak English in a way that you can tell they're foreign, and some Swiss speak English like a native. There may also be Swiss people who don't speak English at all, but I think mot of them are under 6 years old.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 3:52 pmI’ve got to say that “swissguy “ speaks perfect English for someone, I am assuming, is a foreigner. A lot of people commenting on Swissguy's English.
If it's a fake, then it's a good one because there are a few minuscule grammatic oddities in there to indicate somebody whose first language is not English. If it's genuine (which I think it is) then he's got a superb grasp of English.
Thanks for posting, Swissguy!

I don’t think he’s some kind of master troll, laying down Machiavellian plots while playing everyone like puppets. All he’s said is, “Hey guys, I’m Swiss. This player you might be buying is good, but give him time.” If that’s trolling or fishing, then it’s lazy. Stayingdown4eva shows more skill.back in my day, trolling used to mean something. It was an art.
Besides, the responses he’s gotten are a lukewarm mixture of “okay, thanks” and “you aren’t Swiss.” He’s hardly started ww3 on here

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Given the players that we're reportedly trying to bring in to play further forward and more importantly, the fact that we're going to be doing a LOT more defending next season than last, I'm at a loss to understand why the majority on here seem to be so eager to replace/offload Charlie Taylor and some indeed for us spend top-dollar to buy Ian Maatsen.
Our dominance last season allowed VK to predominantly field aggresive/attacking sides, so quite rightly, Ian Maatsen was the preferred left back. However, I suspect that nobody (OK, there's the regular trolls) would argue that CT is better than Maatsen when we're under pressure - how often did CT come on to close-out games? To my mind, we'll moreoften (every game?) need to be defensively much stronger next season and in Charlie Taylor we already have an experienced,Premiership quality left back.
