Good that we’re adding a bit of height in that area of the pitch then. I notice he’s scored some decent headers as well.

Andy Payton was 175cm, just saying

This is the rule:spt_claret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 1:21 pmTrafford, Egan-Riley, Franchi all are 20 so wouldn't hit the age quota.
Al Dakhil is 21 but unless the rules changed it used to be if you're 20 at the start of the calendar year- he was, so would also not hit the limit.
So that puts us on 26. McNally will likely go or be loaned, ditto Thomas. Bastien & Churlinov I've not written off but can see leaving. I'm firmly team 'keep Wout' but not convinced we will. Think it's likely BPF goes, and not impossible that Taylor or Jay leave.
I think realistically our actual number of over 21s, assuming we sign Trafford, Amdouni & Redmond, is at most 24, more likely 21 (McNally, Thomas, BPF leaving). Potentially smaller still. So we'd have room for the CM and LB that we still need.
Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad.
Each player is assigned a squad number, which they wear during Premier League matches.
For the 2023/24 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2002.
That would mean Trafford, Egan Riley and Al-dakhil wouldn’t need to be registered in the 25
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Have the BFC media team come back from their holidays yet?
If things carry on like this, they’ll just be doing one video clip and introducing all the new signings as a five-a-side team.

Of course height isn’t everything, but we’ve got several smaller players already. Won’t hurt to add some height. From the videos I’ve watched this morning he seems to have that knack of bouncing off defenders which should serve him well as he adapts to a more physical league.

We're playing Sitay in our opening game, do you really think that our having Maatsen as opposed to Taylor will significantly that result? ... And I thought I was a bloody optimist.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 10:53 amIt's possible. Only problem is if it's really late in the window, what do we do with the left back position in the meantime? ...

We are planning a full length feature film, but Spielberg keeps insisting on retakes.

Looking at the youtube videos, I'd say he's 5ft 11.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Nope, don't think it'll impact the result against City at all. My point was more what happens if we put all our eggs in the Maatsen basket and we get to the end of the window and Chelsea still aren't selling. I'm sure we'll have other options thoughAfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 2:17 pmWe're playing Sitay in our opening game, do you really think that our having Maatsen as opposed to Taylor will significantly that result? ... Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Basing this off nothing more than a hunch and a few anecdotes but I think I’m happier with this lad (Amdouni) than Mikautadze -
Same age but he looks to have a bit more pace and power which always helps in the PL
Not to mention also having been selected for the Swiss national team (who are rather good) having bagged 5 in 5 - clearly highly rated there.
Think we might have a bit of a gem on our hands

Amdouni sounds like an exciting player but worth remembering he's coming from a much weaker league straight to the PL which will be difficult. Mohammed Elyonoussi and Albian Ajeti both left Basel for the PL and couldn't cut it.

True but didn’t seem to do Salah any harm… (yes I know Mou wasn’t having him at Chelsea on his first stint in the PL)northernpowerhouse wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 3:09 pmAmdouni sounds like an exciting player but worth remembering he's coming from a much weaker league straight to the PL which will be difficult. Elyounoussi and Ajeti were both nowhere near as good as Amdouni for Basel.northernpowerhouse wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 3:09 pmAmdouni sounds like an exciting player but worth remembering he's coming from a much weaker league straight to the PL which will be difficult. Not questioning your viewpoint on this topic, but out of interest in what respect?
From what I can tell Elyounoussi and Ajetti had a better goal contribution record at a very similar age.
Elyounoussi got 19 goal contributions in 33 games.
Ajeti got 18 in 32 games.
While Amboundi had 16 in 32
I know there’s not a lot in it stats wise, are you saying that Amboundi has a higher ceiling or is just generally better all round?

Push and run down the line, close his eyes and belt it across. I’ve bleated for years about his lack of a right foot and how every team we play know he will never come infield and always overlap. This is so easy for the defenders to take up position against.
I have the utmost respect for him as a PL defender and until better is aboard we should keep him.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Hasenhüttl:
2011/12 - 2nd place with Aalen in Bundesliga 3 to win automatic promotion.
2014/15 - 1st place with Ingolstadt in Bundesliga 2 to win automatic promotion to Bundesliga for the first time in the club's history.
2015/16 - 11th place with Ingolstadt in Bundesliga despite being clear favourites for relegation.
2016/17 - 2nd place with RB Leipzig in Bundesliga, their first season at that level.
Following this several respectable mid table finishes with Southampton.
I am not for one moment saying Hasenhüttl was and is a better coach/manager than Kompany, I am just saying let's not totally disrepect his credentials of coaching players because of one failed season at Southampton (of which you could aim the blame at the board and their signings rather than Hasenhüttl himself).

I'm not disagreeing with anything.
I'm just wondering how people know what system we'll be playing this coming season and how anyone knows which Tom, Dick or Charlie will 'fit into it.'

It doesn't take a genius to see that a square peg doesn't fit in to a round hole. We may evolve this season, but we saw the building blocks last year and Taylor didn't suit the style/system.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 4:36 pmI'm not disagreeing with anything.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
What a load of nonsense, a left back playing at left back is a square peg in a square hole.
Taylor isn't as good as Maatsen, it's as simple as that.

Not sure what your issue with Taylor is, he seemed to slot into the system well last season in my opinion and he's one of our few Premier League experienced players still in the squad. I wouldn't be so quick to write him off.

You've obviously not bothered to read all my posts about this. I like Taylor, he's a good player, but he does need to be played in a system that suits him and the way we line up under Kompany is not that. To quote another poster he looked like a fish on a bike sometimes last season. He's good but limited.

Thanks for demonstrating your complete lack of knowledge.
In your world a Target man and number 10 are both the same then because they both play as a forward.
Taylor doesn't suit how we play under Kompany, it's that simple.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Strange one the Hamer story. Coventry supposedly happy to be in actual talks with us regarding the two players on offer plus cash then back out as they sign Latibeaudiere. However they are still well short in the CB department and have lost some key players elsewhere. Perhaps we should up the cash a little and remove Thomas from the deal to offset that value. Or perhaps we can back to Millwall for Flemming and up the offer and or include McNally there.
