I think it's about understanding the world of difference between negotiating a price for highly valued players that you really want but the other club would be happy to keep...

...or when you're clearly trying to offload players who haven't come up to scratch or are past their use by date.
Prices seem fine.

The only problem is 'have the clubs, who would be interested got that sort of money'.

A lot of Saudi money flying about but has it filtered down?

That looks like a really nice move for BPF. Gets to experience a new country and lifestyle, play some European games, and play under a manager he knows.

Best of luck to him. I’ll keep a look out for their results.

I wasn’t sure where Aarhus was so had a quick look. It’s in the middle of our street.

Ryan Giles seemingly going to Luton for £5m. Was pretty good for Boro last season and at that price I'm a bit surprised we aren't interested.

Great delivery but got absolutely roasted defensively. And at a lower level.

That's how I viewed him.

I know we could argue the same about Maatsen, I suppose.

Yes,he travelled with their squad.

In-coming Coventry City signing Bobby Thomas may not be officially announced yet but the centre-back travelled with Mark Robins' squad to Shrewsbury Town today.

The 22-year-old defender is understood to have agreed a move to the Sky Blues who are reported to be paying £2million to Burnley for his services.

If he has proven his fitness he's got to be worth 12 months with a 9 man bench.

If Thomas transfer has been agreed then we are no longer interested in Hamer. Otherwise we'd have used him in a swap.

Not really, we could buy Hamer and loan McNally to them for another season because we don't want to sell him

Expecting him to play left back if it's between him and Dodgson but not expecting him to play there regularly. Unless we're totally changing how we play, which I doubt, he isn't Kompany's ideal left back.

Alan Pace at the game today. Is it typical for the chairman to attend preseason friendlies away? Or there to negotiate a deal for someone? ;)

I think its fantastic he wanted to go-shows great unity, and maybe as you state a secondary reason for being there. Also if reports that we played poorly are correct. it makes it easier for VK to discuss further signings

I was thinking today that we might not be far off done this window, but when you look at the teamsheet today and see that Genk had far more players in their matchday squad, I was wondered if we still might be 3-4 players light.

Definitely three I’d say (LB, CM, Winger). It will be four if Weghorst leaves I’d say.

The team sheet today also included McNally and Costelloe, neither of whom will be making any appearances for us.

Definitely two players short (LB and CM) at a minimum, but ideally we'd get another attack-minded player in as well.

Isn’t it mad how many different numbers get thrown out by journos. According to others we’ve had 15m bid rejected already and they want 20. Another said 25. Now it’s 10 + extras from Nixon.

How many more players can we fit in? Excluding U-21’s

Muric
Vigouroux
Roberts
Ekdal
Beyer
O Shea
Taylor
Cullen
Cork
Brownhill
JGB
Benson
Redmond
Zaroury
Vitinho
Twine
Andoumi
Foster
Jay
Obefemi
Weghorst
Townsend?
Bastien?

I think that only leaves a LB and a CM if we don’t include McNally

Well I suppose Townsend would be that third attack-minded player I talked about if he signed. I'd rather someone else, personally, but we'll have to see on that one.

21 man squad without Townsend and bastien so room for at least 1 LB CM then 2 more slots which I would have another attack minded midfielder and a winger

Me neither. I hope his stint with us is purely about giving him an opportunity to get fit.

Redmond does everything Townsend would offer, and a lot more besides.

If we signed either diallo or palmer on loan would they need to be registered in the 25 man squad even though they are 21 because they are a loan signing?
