Pretty certain VK sees Cullen as a starter and is looking for an upgrades elsewhere in midfield. He’s already mentioned the need for a more physical presence and given the links it appears we are after at least one or two defensive midfielders and at least one attacking midfielder.

I think we only want one quality CM. We’ve may have a few on the wish list, but that’s the way we seem to work now. When we snag one we’ll move on from the others. We may also bring in one that can play both CAM and wider too.

The thought process is if we bring in Vrankx and Lokonga then I was thinking one of them three might be getting moved out to recoup some money.

As that would leave us with cullen, Vrankx, Lokonga, then two of the other three names mentioned

If we don't count Bastien, we currently have 3 traditional central midfielders in Cork, Brownhill and Cullen. If we were to bring in 2 more, we would have 5 + Gudmundsson who can occasionaly play there. That in my opinion is a healthy balance of quality and experience.

If we were to move any of the three players you mentioned, we would still need to bring someone instead because we can not afford to be lightweight in any position. Also worth mentioning that Brownhill is the only player who can actually recoup money. No one is going to pay much for Cork or JBG.

I read Chelsea have turned down 40m for Gallagher. He’s a fine young player but not worth more than that. They are desperate for income and yet are still linked with every big name that crops up.
I see Poch played Maatsen wide left again. Either he rates him there or he doesn’t want him at FB.
I think if we keep our powder dry his price will come down.

The problem is, no one in PL probably wants them (and we shouldn't sell to rivals anyway) and I'm not sure if many Championship clubs could actually afford the fee and their wages.

If we sold them we would still need a replacement. And I don't think we can find players with that much experience (Cork) or versatility (JBg) for a similar sum.

He played all sorts of roles last year.
Filled in at left CDM once or twice, played in the hole, both wings, budget De Bruyne, and for a few games was practically a free role, I remember him dropping into left wingback while Maatsen would push up into the middle and attack a few times.
I'd never expected him to be so versatile. That plus his experience makes him a must keep for me. Same reason I really rate Vitinho - young and versatile,he's got time to get better, has raw potential already and can fill multiple roles. For the style we play now that adaptability is very important.

Ekdal mid 20-s yes but with due respect, hasn't played at a high level prior to this. Evans on a one year deal to advise Beyer, Al-Dakhil and the like and step in off the bench if required would be a smart signing....in my opinion!

Really not convinced by Evans. Didn't play too much last season but did play in some of the games where their defence was a genuine embarrassment. Not too averse to signing a wise head for the dressing room like Dyche used to, though.

Evans is an injury waiting to happen. Extremely experienced and a good defensive brain-I saw him about half a dozen times at Leicester in the last season or two -hes not for us.

I certainly can, somebody within the club, office based, fairly senior. I’ve had bits of info before that usually ends up being true. They 100% will believe this to be the truth but as we all know, a million things can change between now and the announcement video
