You might be right, just checked and they were the ones that broke Maatsen last year, after he chose us over them
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
If true, it’s interesting that we’d pay £20m for him, but not for Maatsen.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think Kompany moved on from Maatsen a while ago. Not good enough defensively.

Think its a good move for both clubs and player. Stoke one of the better payers in the Championship so you would hope they pick up most/all of his wages. Can see his stock rising in 12 months leaving us with either a valued asset or a "oven ready defender". Well done to him-prepared to go on loan last season, and again this year, and Stoke have a track record for developing defenders. He had a very good 6 months at Coventry and seems to have attracted genuine interest from at least four clubs. For me Stoke are dark horses for the new season, and each year this Division throws up a real surprise. Coventry last season and Forest the one beforeAGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 5:42 pmApparently McNally had his medical at Stoke today he'll be joining them in a season long loan

Nixon:
Vincent Kompany’s Burnley are making a £10 million-plus move for Aston Villa’s England under-20 starlet Aaron Ramsey.
The Clarets have been keen on an injection of attacking class for their Premier League return and hope to do a deal for the Villa talent.
Ramsey caught the eye in a loan spell with Middlesbrough last season and could now step up the Premier.
The young bother of Jacob may not start for Villa this season so the time could be right to leave.
Burnley hope they can talk him into joining them and being a star in their bid to bring their style of football to the top flight.

Nixon linking us with Villa's Aaron Ramsey. Can't believe they'd be willing to sell him at a sensible price.

Don’t remember Ramsey being a particularly strong performer for Norwich or Boro last season (at a lower level).

I doubt Villa would let him leave permanently and would he really want to go too considering it’s his club and his brothers there etc? Looks a good player though, absolutely.

From what I have seen of him, Ramsey is an attacking midfielder/winger so could leave door open for Lokonga

The only reason Villa might cash in is if his contract is running down or he wants to leave
Villa might need him this year though as they are in Europe

If by CM we are looking for a defensive, hard tackling ball winner ie a Laconga or a Vranckx type player, then Ramsey is not the answer and we now seem to be blessed in No 10's or advanced midfielders

They played attacking midfielders deep and it worked a charm, they could easily beat the press and counter at pace from deep.

It would be nice to have a bit more physicality in midfield but I’m more concerned that any incoming midfielders are comfortable on the ball and can protect it in tight areas.warksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 8:16 pmIf by CM we are looking for a defensive, hard tackling ball winner ie a Laconga or a Vranckx type player, then Ramsey is not the answer and we now seem to be blessed in No 10's or advanced midfielders

Due to Ramsey‘s age he wouldn’t need to be registered in the 25 man squad list, he played in Villas first 2 pre season games but hasn’t featured since at all
