They won the league with osimhen, kvaratskhelia and politano as their 3, you’d imagine they start as first choice again

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
The 5 year amortisation rule has not been adopted by the PL. So, Chelsea are trying to come within FFP by giving 8 year contracts, which enables them, for the PL, to spread the capital cost over 8 years. However, that won't work for them in EUAFA competitions. Why hasn't the PL adopted this: you tell me!
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
It was reported the other day they are adopting it… from next July.Claret53 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 10:20 amThe 5 year amortisation rule has not been adopted by the PL. I assume Villa dragging this out in the hope that Ramsey is not available to play against them next weekend. I think there’s a rule now for permanent signings that you cannot include a clause that the players can’t play against the selling clubs, unlike loans?
We must really want him to put up with so much crap from Villa?

I think it is done pending announcement, but if anything is holding it up I’d imagine it’s all around this unique structure Villa seem to want. Lawyers are probably pouring over the terms & drafting/redrafting documents. Or his team aren’t happy with committing to personal terms so far in advance and negotiations are proving tough.
If it’s true he’s training with us it probably doesn’t matter either way.

There was a rumour going round that there was a delivery to the training ground addressed to Ramsey and someone had put the postage label on the internet

The current deals that are rumoured sound really awkward, Ramsey, Dodi, Lokonga, Maatsen, Tella.
Alan Pace will need a holiday on 1st September!

Of those, only Ramsey will be signed this window. Ship has sailed on the others IMO.burnley007 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 10:59 amThe current deals that are rumoured sound really awkward, Ramsey, Dodi, Lokonga, Maatsen, Tella.

All though lokonga, Maatsen and tella don’t look likely, all 3 could actually still happen. Maatsen and lokonga loans could easily still get done and then perm move for tella if none of our others targets come off

It has been an odd one from the start. But so has Ramsey, I'm not sure about the long term effects of this deal.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:24 amNot at any stage did this ever feel like it would result in us signing him

If he’s not 100% convinced then good riddance. Can’t have players not 100% behind the belief that VK is building

I didn’t even think he looked that good tbh. Hoping we’re done for wingers now. I’d make an exception for Bakayoko - he looks a real talent - else let’s get on with recruiting a LB and strengthening midfield if possible.

The best thing about going after players from foreign leagues is than when deals collapse like this one it doesn’t mean a thing because we know very little about him. If it’s a domestic signing you get your hopes up a bit more if it’s a really good player.
This lad has never sounded up for signing if these journalists are to be believed so no big deal. Best to have a team full of lads committed to the cause.

Somethings on the internet are true then
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
We absolutely do still need a winger/forward type like Lukebakio / Tella. Someone who is a powerful runner that can make those vertical runs Tella gave us last season. This and left back the two priorities. As for ‘not looking good’ from a 5 min YouTube video, I’d say being called up to the Belgian squad and starting then wanted by the Europa League winners is more telling. Wasn’t your most exciting signing based off YouTube last season, Churlinov…?

I was really excited by Lukebakio, but now that it looks unlikely he’s overrated and a flake.

In your opinion we do. We also have Foster now who may play the Tella role and wasn’t playing much last year, plus Koleosho capable of playing that role judging by his pace. There’s a limit to what we can have, afford and keep happy imo.RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:41 amWe absolutely do still need a winger/forward type like Lukebakio / Tella. Yes Churlinov was, have said that many times. Not sure what point you’re making? Unless you watch every game of every league all you get to see is a few minutes highlights, so I am only ever commenting on what I see on highlights. I never try to hide that or pretend I’m some sort of chief European football scout. On that note, Lukebakio’s didn’t look that good, Bakayoko looked better and I’d also have preferred Tella to Lukebakio if we are signing another… but of course that may be wrong.
All completely irrelevant anyway judging by the reports he doesn’t want to join.

Can someone help me please. Exactly what is a vertical run? I know there’s a 6 feet slope from CFS to Jimmy Mac but I hardly think that a sprint in the opposite direction can be described as running vertically . Thanks in advanceRVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:41 amWe absolutely do still need a winger/forward type like Lukebakio / Tella. A vertical run is when you stay on your feet and upright. A horizontal run is when you fall over because you've been fouled by an imaginary playerClaretCliff wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:59 amCan someone help me please. Exactly what is a vertical run? I assume they actually meant Lateral runs, but might be wrong. Probably just heard someone else say it and it sounded insightful.

Good luck to Palace with that one. Not dissimilar to Wolves expecting a penalty when Obama wiped out their player ar OTVegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 9:10 pmCrystal Palace have considered formally reporting Chelsea for making an illegal approach to Michael Olise.
There are concerns at Palace that Chelsea’s move for Olise has contravened transfer rules and etiquette.

It's hard to believe there is anyone out there who would go to the trouble of using photoshop to edit the address line of a package to pretend that a footballer has signed for a club.

After his showing on Friday I think Foster will 100% be playing the Tella role, whether wide or in behind Amdouni who I suspect will play a more mobile less physical version of Barnes' role.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:58 amIn your opinion we do. However with Weghorst gone and Jay seemingly done we need another goal threat, I'd take either of Tella or Lukebakio ideally both. Tella knows us better and is younger, Lukebakio is cheaper with slightly more high level pedigree (not much). Both are a bit of a gamble at PL but we could do with another in that mould.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Looks like Vinny’s opinion too given the links! You do make a good point about Foster, albeit if that’s the case then perhaps another striker is needed… basically another striker or winger/forward type I reckon. Not sure Jay is fancied and surely we can’t have just Amdouni and Foster. Can we can rely on Koleosho to deliver all season, as much as I’m excited by him on initial displays? As for the YouTube stuff, point was we can’t just be saying x player is better than y based on a few minutes of highlights, as the Churlinov example shows.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 11:58 amIn your opinion we do. I've heard the Ramsey deal is taking so long because we're struggling to get the other Aaron Ramsey to agree to be in the announcement video with him
