It's nearly two weeks since Vinni was suggesting this was done and dusted, so Villa are messing us about and we are still hanging around.

Both Kompany and Pace have a bit more about them than just sat there waiting for Villa to sort something. If we are just hanging around it will be because it is something that will be sorted, if it isn't they will have moved on.

Maybe Vinni is happy with the situation
Maybe they are not messing us about
The bottom line is none of know, but the way we've worked under this regime I think we'd have walked away before now if we felt we were being messed around......or maybe we have walked away?

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Because there are no comments either way and no rumours of alternatives for that position at the moment, I can only presume it’s because they don’t want him to play against them and therefore are delaying the completion of the transfer to Friday afternoon? We obviously want him a lot so are willing to accept the delay.Nori1958 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 10:19 amMaybe it is done

Just seen that Troyes are part of the City football group…
Not sure about you guys but I don’t know how signing the Strikeforce of a team relegated from ligue 1 is meant to prime our team for survival.
Odobert an argument can be made about his age being only 18 - Balde? Stinks a bit tbh

After Sunday's game when there will be another 5 days to go.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Seem to remember signing Pope and Heaton from relegated championship teams. Both went on to play in the best league in the world and represent England, don’t think playing for a relegated team is of real significance

You could argue that scoring 12 league goals for a team that got relegated is good return and maybe it was defensively that cost them?CoolClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 11:12 amJust seen that Troyes are part of the City football group…

You could also argue that the wrong end of the French league is really poor in quality and he’s had one season of scoring goals.

I just tend to sit back and trust the process now. Our recruitment is beyond my wildest expectations recently, so I'm just happy.

What’s the wrong end of the French league got to do with him scoring 12 league goals? Whatever league you’re in, a team struggling managing to score 12 league goals is a good return.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 11:25 amYou could.

One season of scoring goals is true but it’s the last season so should be full on confidence
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I didn't think he even got a game in the first place.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
SSN reporting this morning on Arsenal news saying there are currently no "active" talks between them and us on Lokonga

I don’t particularly think it’s a strong or impressive league - and it’s the first time he broke double digits - I’m aware that he has played fullback and wing also.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 11:34 amWhat’s the wrong end of the French league got to do with him scoring 12 league goals? If he was a regular double digit goal scorer i’d be a bit more
optimistic.. Rouwen Hennings bagged 15 in the Bundesliga one season
Could be a useful cog in the system but I don’t think he’d be prolific

He’s done nothing to earn them so can do one, if that’s the issue.
I want Lokonga aswell, think VK could get the best out of him, but let’s be honest he’s flopped at Arsenal and Palace so a big risk for us. Hope we’re looking elsewhere.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
And this is the crazy world of the Premier League - even before Saudi
In 2021 Arsenal sign him for approx £17m and no doubt good wages will have been part of that deal
That season he makes 19 league apps for them (not all starting) and scores 0 goals
2022 he makes 6 league apps for them and 9 for Palace and scores 0 goals
Does he now want a rise in wages ?

Aye - they had him playing left back / left wing back a hell of a lot though, is also a year younger than Balde and was playing for Lyon age sort of 18-23/24 ish123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 12:11 pmCornet came from the same league with a lesser goal reckon and hit the ground running

Balde has played in lots of position through his career but mainly as a winger, last season he played as a central forward, which may be why his goal tally was higher than previous seasons.

“It stinks” implies something dodgy is going on, not just that you don’t particularly like the idea of signing the player.

Quite laughable that so many haven’t cottoned on to the fact that BFC never divulge transfer info until it’s completed!!!
The rumours are agent initiated and can be completely ignored. The worst of it is, that this thread is predominantly made up of our experts discussing DROSS

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Fair point.
I don’t think anyone is infallible mind and can be influenced with familiarity.
I think some of our business this window has been good but still very skeptical about some of it.
Still trying to keep an open mind and I suppose we will see where we’re at a few weeks/games after the window shuts
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I agree, the team at the moment has more than a few questions marks, and I think if the window closed today we’d not be in a great position. The good news is though we don’t need much, a LB and midfielder, and possibly another forward. If we sort that with some quality we’re absolutely fine. I expect a flurry in the last few days now.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 12:55 pmFair point.

It’s certainly not BS that brownhill is stalling on a new contract
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Everyone reporting that teams can sign Brownhill on the cheap as he only has a year left. Haven't we got the option of another year?
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Another helpful insightful reply
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
It does say on CT's player list 2024+ which is I think an option of another year by the Club-so potentially until end of 2024- 2025 season

Probably depends on the terms set outNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 1:42 pmAm I right in thinking the player has to agree to that?
I’m vaguely sure that a player has activated it themselves once in the PL despite the club not really wanting them and also the club doing the same to ensure they got a fee
