TV money / loans is my guess.
I’m sure ChesterPerry will know more about it

We should get about 130 points in the Championship next season with this squadCoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 10:35 pm9th highest spenders in the PL, 16th in Europe as it stands!
We had a net spend of around +£34 million last summer, wage bill was smashed right down with the high earners mainly leaving and relegation clauses for anyone left, and we bounced back up at the first attempt meaning we get the PL tv money againAGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 10:46 pmWhere is all this money coming from, I'm not complaining just curious
Didn't someone (presumably Chester Perry?) say that we had taken out a loan of £100m this summer? Or did I dream that?AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 10:46 pmWhere is all this money coming from, I'm not complaining just curious
Or Sky Sports don’t have a clue.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 7:04 amThere was an article on Chelseas spending, on SSN app, just last week that listed every PL club for this window. We were only at £34m. Either spreading the load over years or some very clever book-keeping.
I miss that optimismBleedingClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 8:08 amI think Ramsey has the enthusiasm and hope of a young man before he gets a permanent woman and has kids
You can get it back in short bursts with alcohol
Is there a particular drink containing alcohol you recommend ? .. asking for a friend
Think you may have dreamt it.

Was Jennifer Lopez sat next to you on your sofa at the time ? If so that should definitely confirm it was a dream.
I blocked the strumpet’s calls months ago.
I’m a bit Cliched, I have a bottle of Bene in the dining room dresser and take random swigs of it as the day demandsclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 8:30 amIs there a particular drink containing alcohol you recommend ? .. asking for a friend
She would have been, but by the time her entourage of 60 was in the house, there wasn't room for her.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 8:34 amThink you may have dreamt it.

Klopp had some interesting comments this summer about keeping players longer than you would expect because of what they offer in the dressing room rather than the pitch.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 8:31 amI am intrigued to know what will happen to the "old guard" in the next 8 days ie Rodriguez, Cork, JBG, Taylor, Bastian. They will struggle to even make the match day squads following our numerous recruits this Summer
Very athletic player, very hard working goes to press hard on any ball. Very useful teamplayer that can score. Good in the air as well.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 9:34 pmhttps://x.com/nicoschira/status/1694078 ... Gkg4Pp-4vg
Nicolo Schira linking us with Kouame at Fiorentina.

Personally not the biggest fan because he's not that fine tuned, not the most technical player yet I can't deny he was valuable for Anderlecht during his spell. Foster-like player with more experience of course.
Klopp had some big players who were big characters in the dressing room-Firminio, Milner, Henderson, Oxlade Chamberlaine. Do Jay, Jack , Charlieand JBG offer that impact in the changing room-you already have Cullen, Roberts who offer that.WE are not in the same category as Liverpool when comparing what we can justify financiallySocrates wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 9:20 amKlopp had some interesting comments this summer about keeping players longer than you would expect because of what they offer in the dressing room rather than the pitch.
Whilst they will be our higher earners Jay, Cork and JBG have all signed new contracts since we got relegated and I bet they aren’t on what they were at their peak. If they are happy to accept a smaller amount of minutes on the pitch then I’d be very happy to keep them around the place. Their experience and support in training will be invaluable.
When you consider a lot of our players have signed 5 year deals, I imagine that the up front fees might be as low as 20% (if instalments are spread evenly) - so lower than £50m.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 10:15 amRegarding this concern about the money if we imagine a year 1 set of payments as being about £50m with more instalments in future years, then we add on wages which I bet are a saving on past PL years, it is very possible this could be affordable from the coming season’s income alone.
More likely there could be a bit of debt taken on board, particularly for cash flow as much of these transfer outgoings would be immediate, but that could be largely short term debt just factoring the incoming TV money.
So I feel very assured about all this, I think its the right approach and when we’ve finished it won’t be far away from the £100m I thought we would spend at the start of the window.
Brighton have a great model they just seem to name their price for players they sell and get it and then as you say replace at a fraction.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 10:35 amOnce you have confidence in our recruitment model (and plenty good evidence in the past 14 months), then it makes selling your top players more pallatable. Brighton have been the absolute masters in finding replacements as good as what they are selling at a fraction of the cost
Haha
I can't help but being irritated by Brighton. I really hope we can beat them this season. They are always after our targets. Idk I feel I'm holding a grudge.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 10:45 amBrighton have a great model they just seem to name their price for players they sell and get it and then as you say replace at a fraction.

Short clip from Bakayoko vs Glasgow Rangers yesterday where he gave 2 assists. The guy looks ready to demolish the Premier League. Together with Doku and Lavia probably the best young lads Belgium currently has to offer.
If there's even a slim chance, and Sacha Tavolieri said he was most interested in signing for Burnley, we should do whatever we can to real him in. This guy could make an incredible difference for Burnley. He's a danger for the opponents defence. Can take out players with ease with his speed and dribbling. Good crosses and powerful shot at goal.
Dutch analysts were saying it's crazy for him to go to Liverpool. Too soon they said. Hopefully he feels the same way. Burnley would be a great step forward and we could really use him as Benson isn't fit to play 90 minutes. We can't count on guys like Koleosho Redmond and Bruun Larsen as our nr 1 pick for the wings. Zaroury could start but Benson would mostly be a luxury sub.
Anyway this guy has an immense resale value, if he just keeps on playing like he does now, the sky is the limit. We can get anywhere from 50 to 150 for a player like that.
It’s good that we’re looking at the same players, shows that our scouting team are on the right track
Aye but remember we also have been paying quite a substantial loan off from the leveraged buyout as well.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 11:08 pmWe had a net spend of around +£34 million last summer, wage bill was smashed right down with the high earners mainly leaving and relegation clauses for anyone left, and we bounced back up at the first attempt meaning we get the PL tv money again
Don’t be shocked if a number of players are sold for good money next summer, I’ve said recently that we will see more players leave for £20 million plus and maybe even break the record amount we got for Keane if we have a good season
We also don’t know what extra investment the owners have managed to get in, because the accounts for last season aren’t due until next summer
I think they used some of the parachute payments for that if I remember rightlyCoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 11:55 amAye but remember we also have been paying quite a substantial loan off from the leveraged buyout as well.
Next set of accounts will be interesting, let’s hope that they’re filed on time.
Thanks for changing my point of view. It's a little better now.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 11:55 amIt’s good that we’re looking at the same players, shows that our scouting team are on the right track
Because he feels the goalkeeper is a key part of the team?Anthonini wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 11:57 amSo why pay for a GK and not for a player that actually can destroy defenders? I hope and common sense tells me there still must be something possible.
The latest signings of Delcroix and Bruun Larsen don't however give me the feeling there is plenty of budget. But hopefully we'll still be pleasantly surprised.
Would come down to PSV beating Rangers and qualifying for the Champions League both for player and club? He would surely want to stay at PSV for Champions League experience and from the club point of view, the revenues generated by Champions League Group Stage or Europa League Group Stage will determine whether PSV need to sell or not this summer.Anthonini wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 11:57 amSo why pay for a GK and not for a player that actually can destroy defenders?
