Man Utd going for Cucerella all but ends us getting Maatsen.

Think someone should be having a medical at Old Trafford if they have bid of Cucurella, and I don't mean the player

No chance they’ll let both go. With any luck the Cucurella deal won’t happen.

Just about to post the same, plus hall went to Palace, so not as many left backs as there wasNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 4:51 pmMan United have bid for Cucerella
Wonder if that effects the Maatsen deadl
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
We have a lot of players that we are pinning hopes on being ready pretty quickly for this level. A good number of those are also adapting to another country.burnley007 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 4:24 pmI don't think Ramsey is a CM from what Boro and Villa fans have said.
Maybe that's the long-term plan with him though?
I just hope we’ve found the right balance here, both in terms of recruiting for specific areas of the pitch and the blend of youth / experience.
As it stands, it feels to me that the squad is a little imbalanced with very limited experience of the Premier League and / or English football.
With all of the changes last season, I don’t think I was expecting quite the same influx, this summer.
It’s such a contrast from what we have ever seen at Burnley, we’ve gone from one extreme under Dyche to another under Kompany, perhaps it just takes a bit of getting used to!

Surely we do some business with City??
THB, Gomez or Philips??

No chance of getting Maatsen if Chelsea allow cucurella to leave, unless they have another young lad they rate ahead of Maatsen

Where is this from? I can't see anything in the rules about U21 loans having to be part of the squad list.

They are miles apart on the loan fee, Chelsea want 7m, utd have offered 2m.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 5:08 pmNo chance of getting Maatsen if Chelsea allow cucurella to leave, unless they have another young lad they rate ahead of Maatsen

Yeah, you really can’t see Chelsea replacing Cucurella. Very careful with their money normally and tend to bring in minimal players each window.

Cucurella to Man United is a perfect move. He seems totally suited to making the most obvious hand ball you've ever seen but the ref and VAR waving play on.

Charlie Taylor has 6 assists in 4 PL seasons, no goals.

Ramsey also played off the left for Boro pretty much exclusively but is meant to be more central - but not a centre mid, attacking mid/10 typeNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 4:02 pmI think Tresor looks a fantastic talent but really struggling to see the logic here.
In left wing we have:
Redmond
Zaroury
Koleoshi
Odobert
And foster has played there this season.
Surely the massive sum is better spent on getting a top CM in
Koleosho scored his wondergoal for Espanyol on the right wing cutting in - so that’s a plus

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
For the 2023/24 campaign, Under-21 players will have been born on or after January 1, 2002.
Despite being aged 21, Ameen Al-Dakhil still fits the Under-21 criteria as he was born on March 6, 2002.
The Clarets don’t currently have any players on loan, but if they do they must be registered to the 25-man squad, even if they’re aged 21 or under.

The unknown with Maatsen is what the player wants. If he refuses to sign a new deal he will be off, regardless. A loan with an option to buy at about £20m may be seen as attractive to Chelsea for a player currently paid a minimal sum with 1 year left.
We know he wants to make it at Chelsea, but as reserve LB he may not get many minutes and may see his career stagnating. Easy to see them bringing in another world beater in January.
Saying all that though, their top priority is to get rid of Cucu and they will need a reserve LB just in case.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Football is about players not systems. Last season we had the best players in the division and could play any style VK chose and win.
This season we are a long way from having the best players in nearly every position.
Cullen and Berge as our MF doesn’t stack up well against most other teams, especially those that play a 3 in there.
They need help. 3-5-2 is the way to go.

None of them are ready to start and make an impact. Perhaps Zaroury, and in case of injury or anything you're stuck with Redmond and two 18 year olds that have a low impact on the game.

4231 is the way to go if we get Maatsen or similar and someone to play the Cork role next to Cullen in the 2.

How can Chelsea do a loan with an option to buy when he’s out of contract in the summer? He would need to at least agree another year extension to do a loan with option to buy like Raya at ArsenalCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 5:44 pmThe unknown with Maatsen is what the player wants. Why have we signed them then?
Redmond has 150 premier league apps
Zaroury just signed a new deal.
Odabert cost 10m he better be able to start.
Koleoshi has started the last two

I read somewhere the other day Chelsea were allowing Cucurella to go out on loan or for sale and Maatsen would not be going on loan unless he signed a new 6 year contract, can't remember where I read it though.

Yes that was what I was thinking, didn’t explain it very well. A new contract at the point of departure that would allow a buy back or something, I recall a player recently doing that. Regardless, Chelsea would need something out of it, but I can’t see it happening nonetheless. He will stay or end up at West Ham or Ajax.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 5:56 pmHow can Chelsea do a loan with an option to buy when he’s out of contract in the summer? Tresor has a mild thigh strain and can’t play, I’m really hopeful he’ll sign but he’s not going to be starting the next few games I’d imagine.

Even if Cucurella does go to Man Utd, can anyone seriously see Maatsen starting at left back for Chelsea should Chillwell become unavailable?? I know he will technically be next in line but if Cucurella goes it wouldn't surprise me if Chelsea bring in another left back before Friday evening which knocks Maatsen back down the pecking order. There's no way they go into a season with Chillwell and Maatsen as the only options at left back.

Tresor makes no sense to me at all. Although the turnover was high last year I understood each signing. This year I'm totally baffled tbh. Obviously got a great deal of faith in Kompany, but to me the squad looks so imbalanced on many levels. Age, experience, profile, positions, strengths/weaknesses etc. I'm even confused as to why tresor, presumably knowing who is at the club, would want to come here

Having said that, I remember being concerned that we seemed to lack height and strength in the side but it didn't cause us any great concerns once we were up and running.
As you said, faith in VK.
