Sky sports now reporting Maatson deal agreed
They said deal was agreed, but it is up to the player and so far he remains unconvinced

I find it incredible that all this info is really getting of what should be private discussions. It’s being being leaked to try and get a good deal for IM. Some people are getting far too wound up.

Sky have since said, that even though a deal has been agreed.. the player is leaning towards staying at Chelsea.

Yeah, I mean Taylor has never played in the Premier League before.....
I meant from Komany's point of view, not mine. He has a way of playing and a system he wants players with certain profiles to fit. Taylor doesn't fit, and at this level it's not great to have to "make do" when you've spent this much money.

I don't mind Taylor at all, but even if he's first choice we're still short.

Dodgson set to join Barnsley on loan if Maatsen signs

That would suggest it’s him or no one?

fair enough, but my point being we don't have many other options at this point if these rumours are true. I am sure he could a better job there than any of our current squad as it stands and he already has the experience and defensive capability.

As for Divok Origi. I think we are better investing in a player we can develop
We have a fair few "ones to develop"! Some experience and premier league know-how would've been nice. Especially since he was an eye for the big moments it seems. But looks dead that one

I wouldn't mind seeing Taylor at left back, he's proven at left back in the Premier League.. did a very decent job for us there.
He would have alot of rust to shake off though, not played in that position (or any position really regularly the past season) so would take time to get back up to speed of the PL.. but he's still only 29 iirc.
Taylor would be a better lB than anyone else currently in our squad

Furthermore, I don't believe the £31.5m. It suits Chelsea and IM's agent to be able to quote it at a latter date, if necessary.

Saudi willing to go up to £200mil and £1.5mil p/w for Salah is the most outrageous thing I've seen in football.

Taylor is so not up to it. I love how all these comments are made when he's rarely played for us in the last year. Once he starts playing again he'll be slated. So many clueless comments on this thread. TRUST VK!

Tavares, left full back from Arsenal, has moved to Forest for 12mil. 13.5mil sounds more feasible for Maatsen.

Maybe, but we are not exactly thriving in options.

Also, why haven't we moved Taylor on if he has no future? If he is not good enough (in your opinion), why even keep him as backup?

He was being linked with Leeds on loan massively earlier in the window, that was one move I did think would happen today.

Supposedly West Ham changed their mind.

You have to wonder what the reason is to not want a move here, happen he believes we are relegation candidates.

In fact the respect is so deep and the relationship so great that Maatsen left it until Transfer Deadline Day to inform VK what he really thinks of the town and it’s football club.

Yeah like I said, it would be throwing him in at the deep end.. to put him straight back into a Premier League side.
He would need to shake off the rust, which would take alot of time.. (probably leading to bad performances/mistakes) and we know how quick the crowd can turn. Which in turn could effect his confidence and he might not ever get back up to the standard.

Another thing to think about is that when he was fully fit/match sharp.. VK still opted to put him at CB, so he doesn't see Charlie having the attributes to play LB in his type of system.

edit Milltown1882 already posted about the Leeds interest 8-)

I remember seeing Taylor linked with a return to Leeds not long ago, but I think VK might want him around the squad for the his all round experience older player, been in the Premier League for alot of years.. will help with morale after bad moments in the Premier League)

Think we’re going to regret putting all the eggs in the Maatsen basket.

That sort of thing used to happen regularly under the old regime and we’d frequently be left short in at least one position going into a season. The new regime have always made sure to have many different options but the LB situation looks to be different.

Someone poste that 4 medical slots were booked but that's looking a bit optimistic now. We haven't even completed the Tresor deal but hopefully that will go through, not much else looking positive at present.

We have about 5 (6 with Tresor) attackers better than him.
Currently I would say we don’t have any.

None of the wingers we own have performed at this level, let alone over a consistent basis

Go outside lads.

Not sure his own morale will be so good if he is still here and not starting any games ;)
True, although I'd like to think he's happy :D He always appears happy enough, like a level headed guy.. team player.
But yeah, with lack of game time who knows..
