Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think one or two will still come in by the end of the night. The situation appears to be very fluid. That said if we don’t bring in a left back then I think this could be quite a significant failing. People were criticised on here for questioning how we were failing to prioritise key positions, and I don’t think this was an issue earlier in the window, but if we fail to bring in a left back considering the number of incomings and huge amount spent then something has gone a little wrong.
Let’s hope we can convince Maatsen - although we may just not be able to meet his personal terms. Whilst I wasn’t too bothered about him earlier in the window I think now he would be a significant addition and would be ready to step straight into the system and fire on all cylinders from the get-go.

Pretty confident there won’t be any new links, rumours or signings today other than hopefully tresor

Where has Phillips been reported? Is it legit? He'd be an incredible signing.

Dodgson loaned out to Barnsley - good sign that a LB is coming.

that the same Kalvin Phillips who is on 150K a week ? We just bailed on Origi because we wouldn't go near his 85K a weekforzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 6:20 pmWe are right on the line at the moment between 'great window' and 'failed window' - no LB, no CM and no CF, no Maatsen, no THB and no Tella - with money unnecessarily thrown elsewhere.
But get Maatsen, Kalvin Phillips and a good centre-forward through the door in the next few hours and we will have had a cracking window.
D'ya spot the floor in your plan ?

An hour ago Dodgson wasn't going on loan without a LB signing coming in. He's now a Barnsley player. Sit back and wait.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
There’s no chance of Phillips signing for us. Thats a delusional hope.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Is Dennis Praet an option for us? At Leicester city still. Way too good for the championship. I've always thought he was a very underestimated player. Can play every midfield position, experienced, technical, good vision of the game. Can defend and attack. Can score and assist.
And what happened with Gnonto? Everton seem to be trying to get him.

It's too soon (just) to be critical of this window, but as Nixon has just said on Radio Lancashire, we've know since Christmas that we would be up. Why on earth are we messing about today for a left back. It's crucial to the way we play.

So much besties that we didn't get THB back, or Gomez, or Palmer, or McaTee, or Phillips or any loans as of yet in this window. Though we did pay out shedloads for Trafford.

It has just said Maatsen confirmed as obligation to buy next summer and loan this year on sky sports news.

No way Dodgson going on loan is related to any Maatsen deal, like Dodgson was going to be near any first team squad this season

Chelsea will still be trying to persuade Maatsen to move, they need it done for FFP reasons.forzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 6:31 pmDodgson loaned out to Barnsley - good sign that a LB is coming.
Not sure if signing a forced Maatsen is good or not, would his head be clear or would he still be thinking about being at Chelsea..

Seemed pretty clear to me that Maatsen was being given minutes at Chelsea to put him in the shop window. Doubt he’d feature much at all. More likely that Maatsen isn’t completely satisfied with the personal terms of any obligatory purchase at the end of the season.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
VK has only a few hours to save our season!...
We currently have the weakest defence that we have ever had in the Premiership and it's even weaker than last season!...
Truly bizarre, especially with the budget VK has been given...
There is absolutely no chance we stay up with this current set of defenders.

Think it was because a journo posted something about it earlier on Twitter, take it with a pinch of salt though.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 6:42 pmThey are putting 2 and 2 together, Dodgson was always going on loan today

Do we have a stronger defence than last season?... Is the current defence stronger than the one under SD?

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Whilst ChaCha's post is quite provocative, it would be hard to make a case that our current back 5 is stronger than at almost any time during Dyche's tenure. That said, VK places far less emphasis on defensive attributes so maybe this should be expected.

Deadline day is ********.
It’s like overpaying on eBay at the very last minute just to get something you’ve had your eye on for a bit.

I think if we get Tresor then my only disappointment will be not getting Maatsen or another LB.

If he wanted tella kompany would have got him. Don't think kompany thought he was up to the prem for whatever reason. Maatsen different story. Possibly are best 2 players last seasonforzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 5:57 pmWhat is now crystal clear is that VK wanted both Maatsen and Tella.
If we end up with neither it's not because VK didn't think they were good enough for the PL/'moved on' or whatever other theories we've seen.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Think Cha Cha is talking s hit s hit ! Beyer will play for Germany, El Dakil is a current Belgium international and we have the Rep of Ireland captain. Two great goalkeepers, a Welsh international left back and Maatsen to come in (hopefully) AND incredible back ups.
Best defense we have ever had
But gutted about THB personally

Big Cha talking big ******** again,if you actually do watch Burnley how can you compare our defence to Sean Dyche’s ,and if you are will you tell me how many goals did Dyche’s team concede in his last season and how many did VK’s let in,how many goals have Everton let in this season.
