Daka to Bournemouth off
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Personally feel that Taylor could do the job needed. If Roberts comes inside to play alongside Cullen in possession, the rest of the back 3 become 3 CB’s, with Taylor being the LCB. A position VK favoured him last season.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:19 pmBut it won’t give us balance. We will have to completely change our entire set up to accommodate him.
Our left back has to be able to play the ball. Taylor just simply can’t do that. If he can’t do that then we have to put players around him to accommodate this.
Another poster highlighted the difference the keepers have to make when Taylor plays. Let alone the outfield players.
Delcroix will more than likely start
Out of possession it’s a flat back 4 and I’d rather CT defending against any prem winger than Vitinho or Delcroix at this time.
I think the emphasis on wingers/attacking players this window means we aren’t relying on the bombing forward of a LB as we saw last season.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I haven’t tended to agree too much with Newcastle over the years, but I do when it comes to Taylor.
He’s been a great servant for us over the years, but he just can’t play the way VK wants his LB to play, hence why he was utilised as a CB last year.
If we do go with Taylor as LB then it massively affects how we play/want to play, and I’m not sure why people can’t see that having watched how Maatsen played for the past 12 months.

Sacha T suggesting that we didn't find an agreement on wages with Maatsen - sounds like he wanted more than we could afford

Any more news on Tresor, I'm baffled with the lack of any announcement one way or the other. Can't believe they're still negotiating.

Players not getting moves after getting too greedy, or players sitting tight on big contracts without playing, they are stories as old as time. Nothing new here, apart from it being us trying to throw the money about.
We’ll be OK regardless, I still see us as miles better than Everton, Sheffield and Luton.

Am a bit worried since Everton got Beto.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:26 pmPlayers not getting moves after getting too greedy, or players sitting tight on big contracts without playing, they are stories as old as time. It’s not positional issues that I think VK has with Taylor, I think it’s purely technical ability and passing range.CryerBFC wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:24 pmPersonally feel that Taylor could do the job needed. He is incredibly limited and as a result I believe it affects his whole strategy. We build up from the back with quick direct passes that break the lines. If one of our back four can’t do that it dramatically decreases our options going forward (ultimately you can have as many good attackers as possible, if we can’t get them the ball in space it means nothing)

After his performance at Forest on Wednesday, I’d say Taylor will at least be on the bench Saturday, if not starting. Didn’t put a foot wrong and we looked much more solid.

Beto is a proper striker in a Dyche sysstem. They were toothless beforehand. He could galvenise them. Looked very good the other night.
Let’s at least see how he does against sides in this league.

I think he WILL feature now, but must disagree with you re his performance at Forest, Very ponderous , got caught several times in possession and no creativity going forwards.Having said that I prefer him to Vitinho who is lightweight and takes too many risks and puts us in troublebuzzclarets79 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:29 pmAfter his performance at Forest on Wednesday, I’d say Taylor will at least be on the bench Saturday, if not starting. I just don’t understand why we wouldn’t play our best option in that position, given the situation we’re in.
Taylor doesn’t need to make lung bursting runs, score 3/4 a season and pop up all over the park. He can do the simple things well, and play a simple ball infield to a player with better distribution if that’s what VK wants. Surely a professional footballer, having served in the Prem for numerous years, can be guided to play in such a way.
Vitinho for example, barring his energy, is equally as poor on the ball and is certainly weaker defensively.

This was the tweet earlier today from Andy Jones who covers us for the Athletic, so what's gone wrong with a deal that looked in the bag:

As expected, Burnley set to complete Mike Tresor deal before the deadline.
24yo forward joining on loan w/obligation to buy (~€18m)
Positive progress made today on final details which needed to be finalised & medical sorted

I'm not convinced that Tresor was happening or that he even flew over today.

Won’t manage a full season. Never played more than 2,100 minutes in a league season. Everton will struggle. Doubt Dyche will last long either.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:31 pmMe too.

No, much happier with our dealings than theirs and if our board stay strong on personal terms as is suggested, well done to them. If neither deal happens we have £50m ready for January,
