Fat Sam
Re: Fat Sam
If true and if he keeps them up given their fixtures it will be an amazing feat as he has stated in the past when at Everton that it takes him three or four games to turn things around

With their remaining games being
Man City (a)
Newcastle (h)
West Ham (a)
Spurs (h)
It will probably being other teams keeping them up rather than a new manager.

But there are two very winnable games there (the last two). Six points may well see them safe.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: βTue May 02, 2023 8:07 amWith their remaining games being

Re: Fat Sam
Well it looks like Neil Warnock and Roy Hodgsons appointments have worked at Huddersfield and Palace, so why not.

Re: Fat Sam
West ham might not be as easy as some people think, on 34 pts it's possible if it's still like that they might need something themselves from that game with man city & united & Brentford away beforehand.
Re: Fat Sam
Far too many people see the way Man City play football and think those type of managers shouldn't get any new roles as "football has moved on".
Why not if they do a good job and it's successful?
Are fans supposed to see their team relegated by playing the right way.

Re: Fat Sam
Changing manager sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, but only 4 games left and the first 2 against City and Newcastle, I can't see this making a difference.
I also think Leeds could stay up if they don't win another game. The other teams down there are so bad.

I mean it's water under the bridge now given what's happened this season, but given what was riding on that game we just didn't show up and the more I see Collins' handball it becomes more and more bizarre!ClaretTony wrote: βTue May 02, 2023 9:54 amLeeds would have been gone last season had we shown up for that last match

Re: Fat Sam
Everton for the drop I hope. Decent club but they need to have a season in the Championship to βre-groupβ I think. They have spent too many seasons now flirting with relegation. West Ham Iβm hoping will drop (but I donβt think they will). Other than that I donβt care, unlike a lot on here I have absolutely no issues with Leeds and itβs a good fixture for us anyway, like a local derby almost. Southampton dropping would mean one less βlong haulβ away game so wouldnβt miss them. Would just like to see the two mentioned go down for completely different reasons.

That is the fixture list from hell
I'm not sure replacing the wrong choice (they should have stuck with Jesse Marsh) now is going to do them any good

The game was pretty even and we made plenty of good chances. Thatβs pretty good considering a big chunk of that Newcastle team are now 3rd in the league.
Sometimes you just cannot explain or plan for your centre back inexplicably deciding to punch the ball in his own penalty area !!
I think the game we messed up was that loss at Brentford - but guess as they say you get relegated because of your form over a full season and ours was generally not good enough. Failing to score in 2 games against a side as bad as Norwich shows we were just not good enough last season.

Re: Fat Sam
Maybe.
If they stay up, it'll be because of the failings of the teams around them.
They might as well have a bash with SA because the current occupant of the manager's chair doesn't seem to have any idea what he's doing.

Re: Fat Sam
Staying with Gracia, it's not at all improbable that Leeds will get no points at all in their last 4 games and get relegated. Given how long they stayed down last time, they must dread that and will do anything to try and rescue the situation.
Fat Sam has engineered some fine rescues in his time but surely 4 games is too little time to produce a turnaround. I hope it (his appointment) happens anyway, there's always an interesting media circus around when Sam appears.
Really scraping the barrel though for Leeds- what a shame.

Clubs shouldn't be allowed to constantly change managers during the season.

I totally agree. When you look at the likes of Watford who change managers more times than underwear. Should be like player transfers but ust the one opportunity mid season. Too easy at the moment.

It's comes at a cost with the hiring & firing & you'll never get settled periods of stability with turbulence, let them it's a policy that often backfires & goes nowhere.LowtonClaret wrote: βTue May 02, 2023 12:21 pmI totally agree. Re: Fat Sam
The 2 clubs Iβd love to go down with Sarfhampton are Leeds and β of course β Everton.
Fat Sam might just give them that win they need. 1 win for, Notts forest, Everton, Leicester or Leeds will make them safe the way it is as them clubs are not gaining many points now.

Re: Fat Sam
In hindsight the game we messed up was Leeds at home when we conceded a late equaliser when under no pressure whatsoever. This goal effectively kept Leeds up at our expense.Big Vinny K wrote: βTue May 02, 2023 10:56 amNot sure we didnβt turn up Tony.

Wonder how much Leeds have blown this season on Managers wages and paying off contracts especially if Garcia goes

If he keeps them up and Leeds fans end up happy it'll blow away this notion that good football is as important as WINNING football.

Will we also have the pleasure of seeing Sammy Lee running up and down the touchline, screaming his head off ?
Re: Fat Sam
Spijed you can just come out and say that you prefer route 1 defensive football you know. We all know you do.
You donβt need to keep fangirling over Hodgson and Allardyce and Dyche to try and subtly make your point.

Hence why you haven't seen any complaints from Palace or Huddersfield supporters.
In your opinion, should Palace have stuck with Vieira and got relegated?

Forest have some winnable games, last 4:
v Saints H
v Chelsea A
v Arsenal H
v Palace A
Could easily get another 5-7 points out of that.
Last day of the season sees Leicester v West Ham, Everton v Bournemouth and Leeds v Spurs, I couldn't pick a winner in any of those games

The idea that good football = relegation and bad football = success is a nonsense though based on your personal preference for defensive route one stuff.

Whether it's right or wrong in principle is arguable, but it's unenforceable. For one thing, the authorities have no legal right to force a football club to allow an employee on their premises who they don't want; for another, what's to stop clubs appointing a new coach and letting him do the work under a different title?LowtonClaret wrote: βTue May 02, 2023 12:21 pmI totally agree. Re: Fat Sam
Hearing the Leeds fans talk about their current predicament shows them to be the moody teenagers of football supporters, incapable of a grown-up relationship with their club. Noisy during the good times but happy to put the "ick" in fickle when it's not all a bed of roses.
"Many fell head over heels in love with the club again but now have the "ick" and it is hard to see how the management brings the romance back."
