Burnley born (Bank Hall in Jan 1959 which makes me 64). First game was in September 1969 against the FA Cup holders Spurs who were on an unbeaten run of 25 games when they rocked up at the Turf. Happily for me and thousands of Turfites (as we were known in those days) they went back to London on the end of a 5-1 tonking and I was hooked.

Count me in at 70 and a half. You know you're getting old when you
start including part years just in case you don't make it to the next
whole number !!!

I'm 68 this year and my first game was 19th August 1966, just after England had won the World Cup, first game of the season against Sheffield Utd. My auntie and uncle took me on and we won 4-0 and I've been hooked ever since. What a roller coaster ride it's been but must say this season has been one of the best ever!

63 years ago today
It was my birthday 9 that day when we became Champions of English football so the answer is 72 exactly.

Hi Ian, I wasn't actually the oldest in our year, that was Ewan.houseboy wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 9:57 pmHey bud,if you’d been a few days older we wouldn’t have been in the same year. Seems a long time since Beaumont, Grocott and the like were hitting us with sticks and trainers. Can still see the shock on Beaumonts face when I came second in the school cross country once. I wonder who came first (do you still run mate).
I think his birthday was the 6th.
Also Janet Bridge who was a day older than me and Gus Hargreaves who was a day younger.
I used to run a bit up til nearly 8 years ago when I broke my hip cycling.
I finally had a replacement OP last August and excercise these days on 3-4 miles walk with my dog Merlin.

Blimey, the race is down to the wire ! Don’t tell me you were born on the 7th as well.lancastrian wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 9:43 amMy birthday is in March. I cannot remember whom Burnley played but the star man around that time was an outside right/right winger called Tommy Gardener. Seem to remember that Burnley played in white shirts and black shorts. Must have run short of coupons. You certainly beat me on season tickets I have had a few but left Burnley in 1972 for employment reasons.
Spent eighteen months of my National Service in Nairobi

Currently in the Norwegian Fjords on my 16th cruise but gutted to miss the Cardiff game. Did get to Ewood though.

Hope you’re okay bud. I still use weights (have had my own weights, bench, etc for years) but don’t cycle now. Haven’t run in many years though. I do walk a lot though. Have a caravan pitched up in the Lakes so we do a lot of mountain walking (Charlie the Staffy gets knackered).Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 11:27 amHi Ian, I wasn't actually the oldest in our year, that was Ewan.

70 and responding as an over 60, not an old 'un.
Still go out for a run most days, but now use the car instead of the legs.
Perhaps I am an old 'un.

By the way you mentioned people from school there, I often wonder how many are still around. I know Hawkeye went quite young and I think Mick Byrne is gone. Only person I see now is John Winfield (who I went through primary with too) but I only see him when someone dies cos he owns Fred Hamers.

Born in March 1956 in Morecambe but both parents were from the area so moved back to Nelson before I was one. Earliest memory of BFC is watching them on the tv in the 1962 cup final and being impressed that ‘our’ Burnley where we sometimes went shopping were on the TV. Have been hooked ever since and been going on the Turf regularly since I was about 12.

One more. Aged 71, born in Burnley.
First game I recall being in the old Brunshaw Rd stand but first memory was the F A Cup semi final v Spurs in 1961 at Villa Park. Last game at Bristol last Saturday.
My enthusiasm doesn't wane.

Re: How many old 'uns/over 60's post on here?
I was 76 at the start of the year so might just about squeeze into the top ten of oldies. I think I was going into the 6th form at BGS as CT started there. Only moved to Burnley in the summer of 61, my first game was a 4-3 win over Ipswich. The next 7 months was an unbelievable time to be a Burnley supporter, the double was a real possibility but then came 7 disastrous weeks.
Before moving to Burnley we lived in the midlands and had family friends in Wolverhampton so the first game I went to was late 1954 when I went to Molineaux to watch the reigning league champions play the FA cup holders, something I don’t expect to experience again!
