A Meal for two at the Rose and Bowl

Post by jedi_master » Sun May 07, 2023 2:58 pm

Sheer curiosity/daydreaming whilst walking the dog on my part - how many people on here have won a ‘Meal for two at the Rose and Bowl’ over the years?

What did you get included in said meal? A main only? Three courses? Why do we have this agreement with the Rose and Bowl that seems to have lasted my entire life (I assume their owner is a fan and sponsors the club?)? How long has this prize been possible at Turf Moor?

I’m half tempted to go for a meal for two at the Rose and Bowl, even though I am not sure I’ve ever entered the Golden Gamble - just to feel like a winner.

I won one many years ago.
When I went to collect my voucher after the match, Rocky was in there. He'd won a £20 shop voucher.
We swapped prizes.

Was it the third prize of the half-time draw?
I reckon 4th prize would’ve been two meals for two at the Rose & Bowl.

A few years ago a friend of mine won it twice in the same season.
I was happy to accompany him both times. We enjoyed a 3 course meal with bottle of wine.
It was excellent :D

I went there, pre covid, to watch the world gravy wrestling championship there. It was a riot.

I went with my daughter who was about 8 at the time. I don’t think she could believe what she was watching. Come to think of it, I don’t think I could believe what I was watching. I think it was a regular event there. Another loss following the pandemic!

I've never even been. Never been to GM Fitted Furniture either, but both feel like a big part of my life!

Used to do the golden gamble every week until it became a scratch card.
Won the R&B twice and actually went back a couple of times inbetween.
It was brilliant, great meal every time. Not been back for years though…

My mums wake was at the Rose n Bowl. Not sure that has anything to do with the thread but meant I always thought of her when they read the prizes out.
