Turf Moor Parking

Post by colne-claret » Mon May 08, 2023 9:33 am

Morning, I need to ask opinions on parking at the Turf. Normally I park near the centre and wander down to Jimmy Mc where my season ticket is. This week however I’ve had an awful bout of vertigo so walking far has been a bit of an issue. Whilst it’s eased up quite a lot it’s still not 100% better yet so I’m looking at parking closer to the ground (Jimmy Mc ideally). What’s it like for parking on the side streets behind Jimmy Mc/Park View etc. Will aim to arrive about 1.30pm.

Cheers! UTC

The parking restrictions on the roads won't be in play today with it being a Monday, iam sure you'd find a space in that area at that time

Public car parks are free on Bank Holidays and Sundays.
There are a lot of private car parks around town like Tesco & TK MAX - you could get a penalty notice on these.

But the yellow lines are only for Saturday and Tuesday, so won't matter how many wardens are about

True, but you'd still get booked on a double,or dropped kerb.

If you're arriving at around 1.30, then there should be free spaces in the side streets that you mention.
Then a very short walk to the ground.

Hope you're OK.

As mentioned the yellow lines are not enforced today but it gets busy around 1:30. Few laps of the streets near Lyndhurst Rd and you should find somewhere within walking distance

I suffered with Labrynthitis and it can take many weeks to recover and driving isn't a good option as it can occur at any time.

If you are going to drive can you give out the colour, make and model of your car and your intended route?

My recommendation would be Towneley, normally plenty of room in the first car park on the right as you drive in, downside you have to pay, and it’s not the easiest to get away but it’s a 10 min slow walk to the ground.
The other alternative is you can park in the cricket club behind the stand, I normally park there if I have to leave early for work. It’s £7 so not the cheapest but it’ll save walking. You’ll need to get there early, anytime after 1:30-1:45 it could be full. Again though it’s not the best for getting away, unless you leave early but I doubt anyone will be leaving early today.

I'm sure someone beat me to it, wardens definitely do work on Bank Hols. I've been caught before making the wrong assumption. The town was dead, too.

We park up Brunshaw Road - it’s amazing how often cars park across the dropped kerbs up there. Only once this season have I seen them ticketed, which is a shame!

 this is what I’m seemingly having a bout of. Been a week now, symptoms are better but still not feeling great. Luckily, it won’t be me driving down so no need to panic

I feel for you mate, it is horrible. I once sat on the shopfloor at work weeping because I had a bout, couldn't stand and was totally confused!

Suffered vertigo badly on occasions together with horrendous sickness....the Epley manoeuvre seems to sort me out. Try it!

We always park at Townley (Woodgrove carpark)

£2, huge carpark can always park and not far to walk to the ground.

I wouldn’t advise parking on a double yellow anywhere.

BPPV is the form of Vertigo which is caused by crystals moving about in your ear canals. If you have that, and not a viral/bacterial Vertigo then the previously mentioned Epley manoeuvre can fix it instantly. You can do this yourself at home following YouTube instructions. My doctor just said he didn't know how to do it.
