Las Vegas

Post by Clive 1960 » Fri May 12, 2023 1:14 am

I have seen on another notice board that Mr Pace is taking all the team to LAS Vegas what a wonderful gesture by the chairman.

just guessing but I'd think player contracts etc don't end until the playoff final date.

Plus just landing several £M makes - makes it easy to do. A team trip will be brilliant for all going.
I don't begrude this. Fair play, Enjoy.

...but gambling hot spot?

(yes I'm a prude regards betting gambling etc )

I’ve been to Vegas 4 times over the last 10 years or so. I’ve probably spent around $250 on gambling across all those trips. As Vegas says, sooo much more than gambling! Awesome place that has to be seen to be believed!

Love Vegas for the shows. I've seen Celine Dion, Cher and Lionel Ritchie and all were fabulous. Hope to see Adele next February/March when we go again. I have gambled but it was a token dollar bill into a "bandit" just to say I'd done it. A trip to Boulder City and the Hoover Dam is well worth a visit as is the Grand Canyon and if you want a roller coaster experience, try those on top of the "Stratosphere."

After his explanation about having Kompany as manager is like dating the most beautiful girl in town but knowing she won't marry you, could the chairman have an ulterior motive regarding the trip to Vegas ? 😁

Looks like they're staying in the Cosmopolitan. Stayed there last year but prefer the Encore down the other end of the strip. Some place is Vegas! :D

Isn't the Cosmopolitan just a front for a Mormon sanctuary ?

Maybe spirals panicking and fears weren't as daft as most thought :D

100% not my cup of tea, but I'm glad I've seen it

I'm in the same school. I have a close family member living there since just pre-Covid. Not got out there yet but hopefully will soon. Obviously I'll "do" the downtown sights and maybe a show but much more interested in the many mountains/deserts/ canyons etc all within fairly easy reach.

We did a tour down the Rockies pre-kids, ending up at Vegas for one day before flying out

- Did Yellowstone, Arches, High Teutons, Brize, Zion and a few that I can't remember

Think you should be able to do the Grand Canyon, Brize, Zion and Arches from Vegas but my memory is a bit hazy on how far away they are

As said, vegas is an incredible place. I’ve done it as a kid, and as an adult (2 nights was enough). I want to go back but as a family this time. It’s very dangerous for any single bloke with an addictive personality (which I was at the time).

2 different experiences.

Last time a visited was new years 1999. I have never listened to Prince since I heard it that much that night.

Not a gambler, but absolutely love Vegas. You could spend a month there are not see everything there is to see, even if you did not enter a casino. The malls alone are a day out.

Love the place.

Wrecked a brand new pair of Lacoste trainers walking through the very sharp sand in the Nevada desert to stand next to a Joshua tree for a photo.
We'd taken a helicopter over the Hoover dam and landed in the Grand Canyon for a champagne breakfast, on the way back we stopped to refuel in the desert but the helicopter broke down. While waiting for a replacement, I saw the photo opportunity. Still, it was a great day.

Our Vegas experience was as described on here, as a tourist not a gambler. The pyramid of the Egyptian, rode the roller coaster around New York New York, the white lions, the Bellagio fountains, the arc de triomphe and Eiffel tower at the Parisian, the parade in the sky at the Rio, the two ships, the Wynn, Circus Circus, the stratosphere, took a gondola around the Venetian, etc, etc. There's so much to see and do.

After seeing Celine Dion in the Colosseum, we decided to have a go on the roulette wheel, we agreed 100 dollars and that was it, neither of us are gamblers. Turns out we spent an hour being plyed with free drink and walked away with the 100 dollars we started with. A great night.

You can spend at least a week walking up and down the strip as a tourist, plenty of shows, have your picture with Elvis, see the Babes in your room advertising truck going up and down, Chinese people on the side walk flicking cards promoting 'companionship' of all descriptions.

As false and man made as it is, it's worth a visit.

It’s the only place in the world where in the space of a minute, I was offered;
Gambling
Lap dance
Hookers
Water
Coke (both kinds)

Saying that it is a hell of a place. Went with a couple of mates for a long weekend and did helicopter ride to the Canyon, shooting range, Penn & Teller show

Would love to go back

Yes I agree, glad I went but probably wouldn't return.
Enjoyed the helicopter ride over Hoover Dam and the Canyon. Stayed in the MGM which was great.....but I guess they all are on the strip.
One memory is going up the Eiffel Tower replica and coming down the other way was someone in a Claret Shirt......them Clarets are everywhere.

Gotta say I’ve had some good times there , so much do to . It’s like a rough old mistress ,u know you shouldn’t but you do . In small doses , casinos , pools, great food, a show or two. While I’m way to old for clubs I went to Omnia? yrs back and they had a designated queue just to get on the dance floor ! which sums up the manufactured yet high end experience of Vegas well . Not quite as easy to swig giant margaritas by the bucket which gambling a few low end chips these days but damn good fun all things said .

Just got home yesterday afternoon after a week in Vegas, as has been said there is so much more to do than just gambling/drinking.

Despite 7 days crammed with activities there is so much we missed out on doing, will definitely be heading back at some point in the future.

Just got home yesterday afternoon after a week in Vegas, as has been said there is so much more to do than just gambling/drinking.

Despite 7 days crammed with activities there is so much we missed out on doing, will definitely be heading back at some point in the future.
Sounds fun, what did you decide to do? Is it good for kids?

I’ve been before but when I was much younger. Besides Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon & shows, much else?

And is it expensive? Just heard some horrendous things about New York being $20 for two Starbucks & $40 for two G&Ts.
