Exciting times!
It bloody is though isn't it.
Now we can sit back, stress free and start taking it all in. Reading snippets of incoming/outgoing transfer gossip. Watching podcasts and interviews with American investors who actually seem grounded and on board fully with what we hold dear.
Waiting for the PREMIER league fixtures without trepidation this time because we know we are better than OK and that we have a manager who is going to do things the right way and make sure that our players buy into his vision. He is learning and will learn a lot about himself and his team but what a platform he starts from. He is pleasantly ruthless and that is a magnificent attribute.
Watching all the end of season play offs and up /down dramas and knowing that we are where we dared not dream to be less than a year ago.
Yup Exciting Times they are!

If VK can pull another Rabbit out the hat in the form of a striker, I fancy us for a top 8 finish.

Re: Exciting times!
I have had my usual flutter on us staying up and also on a top half finish. I nearly pushed the boat and went for European qualification but patched it at the last minute not wanting to jinx stuff. Might revisit that soon.
Re: Exciting times!
I can't find any odds on next season (I haven't tried that hard tbh).
Are we fancied to go down with the bookies?

Re: Exciting times!
I think they wait until this current season has finished before looking at next season. Doubt there will be good odds on City winning the title again, Haarland being the top scorer or us staying up.

Re: Exciting times!
I would imagine the winner between Luton and Coventry will be putting huge pressure on Derby's 9 point season of failure?
Re: Exciting times!
Cheers
Re: Exciting times!
To finish top half @ 8/1 is probably about right but for a newly promoted side is quite short imo. If you know what I mean.

It does require an upgrade, helm but a striker/ strikers still head my wish list.

I like the look of Twine, I think he's got something about him and his free kicks will be priceless (think Ward Prowse) so if we can nudge him into that number 10 role and let Brownhill concentrate on the space behind with Cullen I think we'll be okay there, a Danny Ings type up front and we're really in business.helmclaret wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 6:15 pmMidfield is the biggest department that needs an upgrade.
Re: Exciting times!
Being a pessimist I think we will really struggle next season due the physicality of a lot of the teams, unless we can sign one or two big athletic guys ,can’t see Benson,Tella,Zaroury ,or Maatsen being strong enough, just hope I’m wrong.

Re: Exciting times!
Derby got 11 points, and I don't see why Luton or Coventry should be that bad. We went up via the play-offs in 6th place and got 12 points in 8 games, from memory. Won the first four at home.

Re: Exciting times!
Coventry? Remarkable that they managed that position. Weren’t they down at the bottom having not played games on account of illness. And we supposed to buying one of their players. Has he featured?

He got a serious injury that meant we didn't continue any interest, came back mid season then got another season ending injury after just 2 or 3 games.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 3:22 amCoventry? Re: Exciting times!
I will be backing us to do well. I think winning it is probably a waste but all others look tempting…
We are an unknown. So few of our players have played in the Prem. As such we could well crash and burn or fly majestically. Who knows. A bookies nightmare.

Re: Exciting times!
Genuinely think we will do well.
In terms of relegation, you only have to finish above three of Luton/Coventry, Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Wolves, West Ham, Fulham, Palace, Forest, Toney-less Brentford and 2 out Leeds/Everton/Leicester. I see that as eminently achievable with this team - I'd have fancied us to have done that with this seasons squad.
Very, very excited to see who we can attract to the club - I am expecting some eye catching (for us) transfers to move us up a notch further.

IRe: Exciting times!
I think with 3 new signings, a striker a midfielder
and a keeper we will be fine. Not that I’m
downcrying Muric I think he’s a good keeper
but think we need another backup imo. I think
then we could have a 8th or 9th finish. UTC.

I think some people are getting carried away. I'll be very happy if we are safe before the final month of the season kicks in.

Yes, I sense next season may disappoint some people. Without knowing what our summer business may look like, I’ll also be pleased not to be in a relegation scrap in the final weeks.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 9:17 amI think some people are getting carried away. No idea how our new style will work in the Prem, which players will step up, which won’t, who we might buy… but that in itself is exciting!
