Cardiff Riots
Reminds me of the Stoops Estate riots in 1992 I think it was ??
Know a few that lived round there at the time, said it was like a war zone for 2 days solid.

Strange one this.
The police are denying any chase took place yet CCTV is emerging to show, perhaps, otherwise.
Thank God Braverman won't be involved.

Apparently the rioters sabotaged/ burnt out a disabled lady’s car. She can’t now leave her house. Scumbags.

Riot, smash up Police cars, trash the streets, huge clean up operation to fund, extra Police drafted in, then complain when your Council tax bill rises..

And allow them to wreck even more property? The police should take their kid gloves off and crack some heads. It's what the decent law-abiding people on that estate want. Why should their lives and property be ruined by mindless thugs? Zero tolerance to criminality. We've been 'leaving people to it' for far too long.

Exactly, yet he used it in an attempt to shut down my comments. Says a lot about today's so-called liberals. I think Lancaster would be singing from a different hymn sheet if he lived on an estate where anti-social behavior and far, far worse was part of everyday life.
I feel sorry for the decent people who live there. Scared to death in their own homes while they peek out from their curtains and watch their property burn. Can you imagine what it was like for young children and the elderly? It doesnt bear thinking about. It's no way to live and I'm sure they would welcome a zero-tolerance crackdown.

Electric scooters and bikes need insurance and must be restricted to one rider. We have a fool near us who takes her 8yr old to school. The kid stands up in front of his Mum, neither wear helmets as she races about on the path then on the road.

By some accounts these " lads " were very active in anti social behaviour, tragic but let's be honest what can the police do ? Stop motor crime and they are **** and aggressive, don't stop it and they are weak and lazy.

Goes without saying that the rioters should be punished* btw

Re: Cardiff Riots
The same happened a few years ago in Swansea,a funeral was the excuse that time for the rioters to burn cars and smash people's homes etc ,it took some time but a lot of them were jailed ,it was terrifying watching on tv so living there must have been horrendous

I’d put good money on the e-bike being ‘chipped’ and able to go far faster than it should be.
It’s a major focus area in insurance at the moment sadly tragedies like this one are inevitable until these things are properly legislated.

Ely is not the most celubrious. Nevertheless, I'm sure that Tunbridge Wells will have received more of the levelling up money.

If you can move past that (two replies, two mentions of it, so I doubt it but we can hope) then there clearly is broad agreement on rioters should be punished, the e-bikes are a bloody menace when chipped and anti-social behaviour is bad
We probably only differ on the prevention of these incidents
Re: Cardiff Riots
I feel sorry for the really decent people on that estate, terrorised by **** day in day out, notice how many wouldn't speak on camera for fear of reprisals. These scummy youths run these estates and when the police intervene the " community leaders" always side with the **** and how Society has failed them .

Re: Cardiff Riots
As a Police dispatcher who has to deal with pursuits I think it is to easy for people to make comments and is too easy to blame the Police. They first have to radio that they have a follow then have to declare a pursuit. They radio through all the time road conditions, speed, and safety of others. At any time the radio operator can call it off if they deem it dangerous. As soon as a follow is called over the radio your nerves start and you are hoping it doesn't go to a pursuit. Also, if the officers recognise anyone in the vehicle they do not carry on with a pursuit.
Personally, I am fed up of the Police being blamed. If you are doing something wrong it is your own fault.
People work hard to get nice cars and don't want them stolen and wrecked by some boy racers. They would still be driving like idiots even if they weren't being chased and might still end up in the same position so stop blaming it on people who are trying to do the job they are employed to do!
I don't like people dying but, if someone stole my car which has some power, and ended up dying because of it, sorry, but it is their own fault. They know the risks when they take it.
Might seem heartless but I work with this all the time and if you weren't thick skinned you wouldn't be able to do the job. The longer you do the job the less it gets to you.
People moan when the Police don't do anything and then moan when they do. They just can't win.

The councils are understaffed so can be better utilised in areas that aren’t self destructive.

Re: Cardiff Riots
The welsh are a strange breed. Two boy racers crash and kill themselves so it must be the police's fault, not the drivers or the drivers parent‘s for raising a holes, no, it is the police who are in the wrong, and in that situation they see the only reasonable course of action is to brick all emergency vehicle, attack all emergency personal and set fire to innocent peoples cars. What goes through their heads! In what world is that a reasonable response to two idiots driving dangerously?!
I am glad us english don‘t respond to boy racers in the same way, the amount of people speeding up in down in Burnley, if everyone set fire to random cars every time they saw someone speeding and driving dangerously there would‘t be any cars left!

These events, tragic as they are, were widely known as “professional hazards” for criminals not sure long ago.
This concept seems to have disappeared but it’s worthy of a revival.
