Darren Moore
Darren Moore
Gone at Wednesday. Another weird 1.

I think it's as likely he was told they've about £30 to spend this summer and agreed it was best that he left.

Re: Darren Moore
Something is going on there
No manager or recruitment chief and only 14 senior players.
It feels like they weren’t prepared for their promotion and he’s not being given the backing he deserves

Re: Darren Moore
It’s all about getting an overseas manager that can attract foreign players that are much cheaper. Same as Bournemouth. Wouldn’t surprise me if they go for Corboran, I believe he held talks with Leeds recently and he has history with Wednesday

I think you're mixing up your Corberans with your Carvalhals, so to speak.roperclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 7:25 pmIt’s all about getting an overseas manager that can attract foreign players that are much cheaper. Nothing really surprises me I wouldn’t be surprised if pep got sacked, in lots of cases there aren’t pure footballing decisions being executed, more we don’t really know for sure what’s really going on behind the scenes hence being baffled, he could have had an argument with the owner or somebody high up in the hierarchy, any number of reasons.

Re: Darren Moore
Did not see this one coming. Moore has not been ‘found out’ in any of his managerial spells and looks a very solid manager from this distance. I would have thought they’d have been better letting him stabilise them next season at least. Maybe it was contractual differences that couldn’t be resolved.

I can almost get my head around foreign owners not knowing anything and still sacking everyone, but to know stuff and still sack someone seems a bit rubbish

Re: Darren Moore
We don't know the background, but on the face of it that's a shameful decision.
Re: Darren Moore
Perhaps he’s another job already lined up.
Re: Darren Moore
So 96 points and promotion is now not good enough to hold on to a job. Unless there’s something else behind it this is an astonishingly bad decision.

Awful decision, after the season and the end to the season they had.
You can see some logic/sense to Gary O'Neil's sacking ,but not this.
That's football now, never surprises you.

Re: Darren Moore
I think the issue is rich people trying to impose corporate logic into a genuinely competitive environment and looking to have clay feet as as a consequence.
The only way to behave like these people in football is to be like Abramovich and spend the most money and buy the best players.
The chairman of Sheffield Wednesday will next year be facing 3 teams with parachute payments of £70 million owning a club with a turnover of £20 million. And of course we are seeing the resignation of local auditors etc.
Best of luck to whoever replaces Darren Moore there are some genuinely big clubs in the Championship next season.
I think Wednesday is a big club with a lot of potential but Bill Foley at Bournemouth is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Ince is odds on because of a Wednesday fan on Twitter who has pretended to be ITK. A lesson for everyone about these markets.

Re: Darren Moore
Led to believe it was Moore who instigated leaving after a big fall out over transfer budgets and the Chairman (Chansiri) saying his minimum expectation was top six next season.
They currently only have 14 contracted players, no management team or senior coaching staff and no recruitment staff on the playing side.
Apart from that they are in fine fettle.

Re: Darren Moore
Chansiri has said today that Moore leaving was due to unreasonable contract demands. I wouldn't rush to trust Chansiri but he claims Moore wanted more than 4x his wage for a new deal.
Re: Darren Moore
If that’s true I suppose the question is what was he being paid whilst there. If let’s say he was on £2k per week then £8k per week in the championship is probably about right.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 7:49 pmChansiri has said today that Moore leaving was due to unreasonable contract demands. Sheff Weds also get about 5m in tv money this season compared to about 500k last season, maybe Moore felt he had earned a pay rise.
