No need to waft his bat at that one - just what we didn’t need.

Exactly, ducketts played brilliant this morning but needs to resist shots like that, down to these 2 now, they have to win the match.

More good tactics from the Aussies. For the Wicketkeeper to stand down the legside was the only way he catches that.

How do you expect them to score 200 in 2 and a half sessions without playing shots?

I don't, but some you play, some you leave and that was absolutely one to leave. But 186 is very doable from here, if we're sensible.

They should leave the ones that get them out and play the ones that go for four.

It might not have been good tactics if Australia already had 2 fielders behind square leg. That would become a no ball.
Have the umpires messed up?

Interesting question is was Carey a third fielder behind square on the leg side ? Clearly not out if he is deemed to be a fielder or is there a rule that says wk doesn’t count ?

Definitely not, but they do have a choice of what to play and what not to play, but just now and then you get an unplayable that beats you.

This may sound bitter but if the Aussies don't want to play a sporting game of cricket we should simply stop playing them.

No, the wicket keeper doesn't count as one of the men behind square. He's allowed to be the third man, so to speak.

Same old aussies, what's the difference in a typical stumping with the foot down, bairstow has clearly put he's toe down as if to say I'm in my crease. If all this malarkey doesn't put fire in our bellies for the next test I don't know what will.

Unbelievable from Bairstow. The crowd can boo all they like. But until the Umpire calls over and the ball is dead Carey is fully entitled to do what he did.

Completely Bairstows fault...ball was thrown whilst he was still in his crease...why did he walk out of it, the ball wasn't dead.

He’s correctly been given out, it’s as simple as that. Really poor from Bairstow.

A player playing his 92nd test match goes walkabout and is run out. Fair dismissal and all within the Laws of the game.
This is Test Cricket and the Aussies are proving better at it than us and remain switched on to all possibilities.

No better than a Mankad from Carey. Clever though as Bairstow had walked down the crease after the prior deliveries too.

Yep, the same as a Mankad and the same as acting like a smug **** when you've caught someone out knowing you haven't caught the ball.

They're entitled to do so but also wrong, and bad people.

If the underarm from Carey had gone to the boundary rope I am sure Bairstow and Stokes would have been wanting 4 runs for over throws.

It’s the correct decision. I doubt anyone will disagree. But it’s very questionable sportsmanship and I’d feel a bit grubby had we done the same. They’re a very dislikable bunch this Aussie team.

This isn’t how cricket is supposed to be played at all. He’s clearly not looking to get a run.

Far, far worse than any mankad

Stuff like this ruins the game and blurs the lines massively.

Way worse than a mankad -

Mankad the batter is trying to steal a yard or two - what’s Bairstow doing here other than tapping down the wicket?
