Conor Cody
Conor Cody
Went on loan to Everton and they could have signed him for £4m but decided against it. He is due to sign for Leicester for £7.5m which will rise to £8.5m if Leicester are promoted. His value has risen nicely since the end of the season .
Re: Conor Cody
Leicester have signed Harry Winks as well, they'll walk the Championship even they just played those two on their own.

FC buying the league
Re: Conor Cody
Looks like they are signing players that can move up to the Premier if they do go up. They won't have to change half the team if they do.

Re: Conor Cody
I think they are spending the money in advance of mass sales, so they can claim it was nothing to do with their seriously dodgy position that players were being sold. It is looking not unlike what they did it at least once before, then they could just go ‘pop’ and carry on.
Re: Conor Cody
They are having to do the same as we did last year. They have lost £100m from out of contract players leaving so need to sell to replace those positions. They have some that will want to stay in the Premier, one being Barnes, who will bring decent money in. Chance they could have a pretty much new team for the season. I think they have gone for the manager due to the fact other ex players of Pep are doing well. They are hoping he is going to have them playing similar to how we do now.

Re: Conor Cody
I rate Cody, but I've wasted far too much time wondering how Winks (and Skipp) have forged a career at supposed top 6 club. Wouldn't swap Cullen for both if offered- the definition of average players making the most of an environment most players with any talent could look OK in.
Re: Conor Cody
They're puting themselves in a dodgy position with FFP. Even allowing for sales, if they don't go straight back up they're at severe risk of failing the FFP loss tests, because their wages were about £190m last year, and the signings of Coady and Winks suggest they aren't working very hard to bring them down.

A £40m deal for Madison to head of to Spurs is said to be imminent. I think they are losing many of their high earners and will probably do to the others what we did last season to the likes of McNiel and Cornet - tell them we wished they could stay but we want you to go anyway, thanks.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 12:41 amThey're puting themselves in a dodgy position with FFP. Aren't Leicester already facing FFP charges from when they won promotion to the Prem?

Harvey Barnes off to West Ham, Vardy turns down a Saudi move to fire Leicester back to the Prem.
Walk it they will.

Re: Conor Cody
I remember when Stoke kept quite a few 'stars', spent £50 odd million and finished 16th first season back in the Championship.
Just because we made it look easy, doesn't mean it's easy.

Re: Conor Cody
Coady is an odd one. Key player and captain at Wolves, then shunted out to Everton who declined to sign him for a relatively low fee. Perhaps he isn't trusted in a back four, as he was predominantly part of a three under Nuno. Seems strange he can't get a PL gig though.

Not so sure about that one, Yoda. Relatively unproven manager, probably a change in the playing style, lost some big players. I know we did it, but not everybody is Vinny. Some big teams in that league this year.

And the player who replaced him at Wolves was Nathan Collins who looks likely to be moving on to Brentford this summer.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 6:36 pmCoady is an odd one. Re: Conor Cody
Doesn't seem like the Wolves fans ever took to Collins. Talented lad but a bit to work on - think we got a good fee for him. He'll be glad to be reunited with Mee who must be a dream to play with at CB.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 6:39 pmAnd the player who replaced him at Wolves was Nathan Collins who looks likely to be moving on to Brentford this summer.

Big teams, what like a Welsh village? They've been left behind they literally have nothing monetary.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 6:39 pmNot so sure about that one, Yoda. Re: Conor Cody
Not entirely sure who you even mean there. Leeds? Southampton? Even teams up from League One like Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday have some clout behind them. Then your usual suspects like Boro, WBA, Watford etc. They won't be walking the league.

Re: Conor Cody
I was speaking to a Wolves fan last week about Collins. He said he can look good but then makes a big mistake. That’s exactly what was happening with us.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 6:43 pmDoesn't seem like the Wolves fans ever took to Collins. Re: Conor Cody
Other than the big mistake against Newcastle, I can’t recall too many “big mistakes”. Worth remembering he’s only recently turned 21 as well. I’m still confident he will go to the top.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 7:12 pmI was speaking to a Wolves fan last week about Collins. He said he can look good but then makes a big mistake. Re: Conor Cody
Gave a key goal away in the previous home game I think it was against Villa. If he can cut that out he’s got a lot of talent.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 7:15 pmOther than the big mistake against Newcastle, I can’t recall too many “big mistakes”. He has only just turned 22, so 20 when he joined us I think it is fair to expect him to make the odd mistake.
Hadn't he played about 50 games in his career when he joined us.

Re: Conor Cody
I suspect Brentford's interest in Collins has been aided by Ben Mee's appraisal of him . Ben spoke highly of Collins several times, when Collins deputised for Ben in our last season in the Prem. Collins made a few errors with us, but it was very plain to see the quality and further potential he had. I am surprised Dyche has not gone for him with Coady and Mina leaving, and Keane having his doubters now at the club.SD could take him to the next level, and has a great track record in developing CH's. I suspect Brentford could mould him into a very good CH, and they appear to be short of defenders in comparison to other PL sides

And still in England squads!

I think this is a bit of an understatement.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 9:04 amI suspect Brentford's interest in Collins has been aided by Ben Mee's appraisal of him .
