New documentary series starts tonight on Channel 4 at 9:00 for three consecutive nights. Directed by James Newton the film covers the 2021 evacuation of Kabul.
Reading the review in the Observer it sounds a quite powerful documentary.

If it is anything like the 2022 Escape from Kabul documentary then it will not make for comfortable viewing.

Recorded the episode last night but not got round to watching it yet.
I was recommended 11 minutes: America's Deadliest Shooting on BBC iPlayer which is incredibly powerful. Shows the evening of the shooting in Las Vegas 6 years ago through phone footage, police bodycams and interviews with the people there that night.

Just watched the first episode of Evacuation.
Towards the end of the episode when the US plane is leaving the airport and the Afghan civilians have swarmed the airport and got onto the plane just before take off, to see them fall from the plane as it hits the air is absolutely horrendous to watch. The sheer desperation the people must have been in is extremely upsetting to see.

I watched them all this evening - I’d only planned to watch the first one.
To see such desperation is a really difficult watch and it doesn’t get much better over the next two episodes.
The decision to pull out baffled me at the time and still does. Twenty years of effort to stabilise the country thrown away in the space of a few weeks.

To be honest the West were never going to win out there , look they had 20 years and the Russians before that and still had to pull out .
You will never beat these guys as it's all they have .
