Re: Match day prices
Expected to be honest.
ST holders used to get 4 games free based on matchday prices.
Now it's around half the games with matchday prices going so high.

And £35 in the Jimmy Mac lower for Man City and it looks like £50 in the Longside lower too.

Is that City price a 20% increase and the Palace one 10% - As I understood it there was a standard of £50 previously, now a tiered system.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 11:35 amSome in the Longside upper are £60 for City but down to £55 for Palace.
It will be interesting to see how the dynamic pricing for the hospitality works, as I can see it coming to general matchday in future seasons

Bristol City & Cardiff tried dynamic pricing about ten years ago for general admission but they soon scrapped it.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 11:41 amIs that City price a 20% increase and the Palace one 10% - As I understood it there was a standard of £50 previously, now a tiered system.

Who has decided the price categories for each game?
Going off the top price
60 quid for City and Forest.
55 for Luton, Sheff Utd and Bournemouth
50 for Arsenal and Spurs

Season tickets haven't been viable in the past due to work, but buying 4 tickets and a membership totaling £210 is crazy. If we stay up, the approx increase of 50% in match day tickets will surely be added to season tickets next season

Re: Match day prices
And selling out in 7 minutes for City, or something stupid.
I’m not a fan of high prices at all, it’s the one thing I’d keep really low regardless of demand. I wouldn’t want to deter any fan from attending a game.
Remains to be seen whether we can justify those prices with the product on the pitch, but if we can I expect the season ticket waiting list will grow a lot this year from fans wanting to benefit from the lower average prices.

It's not just Burnley It's all clubs. The beneficiaries are players and their agents, it will become unaffordable sooner rather than later . A serious and workable wage cap is the only solution.

Them prices are pretty abhorrent for Burnley btw - which is one of the poorest areas of the UK.
Can’t help but think that will price many locals out, probably get a few more plastics on the game instead that have latched on to the bandwagon

There are tickets available for £25 for home games, those locals who didn't get a season ticket and can't afford the dearest single seat in the ground have other options.

Re: Match day prices
Given the amount of walk ons we had last season it’s become quite an important revenue stream. Not really surprised somebody has seen this as an opportunity to make additional income. If we sell out most weeks again then it will be a wise move.
Our season tickets are still very good value and match day price in the lower JM is still pretty cheap too.
I don’t particularly like taking advantage of the fact that we are seeing increased demand for tickets but it’s simple economics I guess. The unfortunate thing is if it’s meaning some people cannot afford to go.

Inevitable really, a Premier League match, even in Burnley is a tourist attraction for the whole world. These tickets aren't aimed at Burnley fans really anymore.
Just have to suck it up while we're in the top flight and either get a season ticket or watch on telly. They won't be £50 when we're back in the Championship one day playing Plymouth.

I know much revenue comes from Sky, advertising and so on but when you think of the money sloshing around in football , in particular footballer’s and agent’s wages then asking those sorts of prices in a place like Burnley is awful. Surely this is where the community club ethos should begin.

Like I said, I’m not expecting sanity in football anymore but £25 for the best seats would seem reasonable. Even writing that I’m realising by setting it at that price how crazy it really is. £25 every other week for an hour and a half’s entertainment,
People pay it because they are addicted fans it’s not like any other business.

Re: Match day prices
The prices are what most of us consider nigh-on extortionate, but they're also clearly a price that people are currently willing to pay. I think any potential problem comes from how the prices adjust if/when interest wanes. There's plenty of clubs in the Championship with a Premier League history charging far too much for tickets with the empty seats to show for it and that's not the way to build a future for a football club.

If the City game sold out in such a short time then they're not charging enough.
It's a football club, not a charity.
There was plenty of time for them as wanted STs to get them.

Doesn’t seem to be a ceiling in football at all.
Every year I look at stories about transfer fees, wages, tickets and think they are getting more out of control.
Then they just continue to rise and rise everywhere.

If you look at it from a purely entertainment point of views, or a "day out" doing something, then 50GBP isn't bad at all.
50GBP hardly gets you much something quite like watching your favourite football team play live, along with the atmosphere to go along with it.

Re: Match day prices
The difference with football is there is a core customer who you need to stick with you when fortunes dip. If the richer “plastics” for want of a better term end up not just in hospitality but in general admission, with the core fans who can’t afford it sitting at home, the latter will adjust their lives and find other things to do.
Then, when the club eventually slide back to regular football league football, many of those core fans are gone and the ground is half empty.
We are moving increasingly to a two tier society where those with some wealth get to experience some great things and those without do not, more so than in the past when some leisure activities were cheap. Heck, now even a pint of craft beer can be £5. It’s not just BFC its how it is all going.

Re: Match day prices
Bit miffed as someone who lives away from Burnley but who likes to go on if i can, work family and travel commitments permitting, and knowing that usually means 6-10 home games max a season, that I've had to pick and pay for a selection of games, in the first week of July, from September through to next April without even knowing how many of them will actually go ahead on the Saturdays in question, and whether i will actually manage to make it to my selected games once actual dates and times are eventually confirmed. Any that move to a Friday or Monday will be a doubt. And I've had to pay 35 quid for the privilege of doing so.
I'd hoped to do what I've always done when we're in the Prem, and just get a general sale ticket closer to the time. But clearly looking at remaining seats yesterday there'll be hardly anything left by start of general sales in mid July. So i had to commit last night or risk not getting on at all.
The club obviously took a different course this season. I think it's madness and I'm not very happy about it...

£20 is what the different supporters groups would like it reduced to.
Invaribly in the Premier League away fans are situated in areas of the stadium where seat prices are normally cheaper, eg. in the corners or up in the gods.
Clubs were charging away fans top prices for these seats, in some cases the equivalent to their highest priced, better view seats.
That is why supporters groups campaigned for a better deal on prices for away fans. The Premier League eventually agreed and prices were set at a maximum of £30, and with the caveat that away fans couldn't be charged more than home supporters who were in similar sections of the stadiums.
Prices of seats will always vary depending on the area where you are sitting, you can't charge someone the same price for sitting directly behind the corner flag as you do for sitting in a premium view seat on the halfway line.

Re: Match day prices
Until this coming season, home fans have always been able to attend at Burnley for the same £30 limit for away games, that of course changes this coming season when I believe the lowest price for some games is £35.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 8:44 amMust admit I have never understood the logic of “twenty is plenty” for away fans. Surely if people agree with twenty is plenty. It should be for all tickets
The 'twenty is plenty' campaign for away fans was to help supporters who had the expense of getting to away games. Initially, each Premier League club had a pot of money to provide for away fans. Stoke, for instance, provided free coach travel to all games, and despite having been back in the Championship for five years, they still do. Leicester used it to give out free tshirts and scarves which didn't really benefit anyone. Burnley spent a large portion of ours on the cricket field stand, claiming it was for away fans (but other clubs, not ours).
That led to the then FSF launching the twenty's plenty campaign which was partially successful in that it at least reduced the price to a maximum of £30. But remember, a large majority of home fans have season tickets and therefore don't pay that amount. At Burnley, for instance, this coming season, the most expensive seats work out at just over £26 per game if you have a season ticket.
Our first season with this 'benefit' saw us pay less than £30 at some games and right up to 2021/22, we'd never paid more than £26 at Arsenal.
The concern now is the ever increasing concession prices at some of these Premier League clubs. But the Premier League, Sky continue to talk about the importance of away fans and then some clubs were charging excessive amounts, an adult ticket for a Burnley fan at Chelsea for example was £50.
It's important that the cap continues and there should be more work done to try and create sensible limits for kids and seniors. West Ham and Southampton have usually been the biggest culprits, charging kids around £25.
Re: Match day prices
When many are complaining about mortgage costs, the price of food and energy bills I don’t think £50 to watch a football match is good value.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 9:30 amIf you look at it from a purely entertainment point of views, or a "day out" doing something, then 50GBP isn't bad at all.

Ridiculous, sums up English football sadly, no ***** given about your average family of supporters living locally in one of the poorest parts of the country.
This thread just shows how selfish people are, this price rise doesn’t harm me, it’s the local kids I feel sorry for. Kids who are priced out because their parents simply cannot afford it. The same kids who 30 years down the line will be the fabric of this club, watching us in any division.

Is that definitely happening though? I got my Cardiff ticket that way but couldn't see anything about it for 23-24.
I may need to use it to divest of tickets I've bought for matches i can't attend. Assuming i can do that.

The national psyche has been changed after 13 yrs of Conservatism and it’s quite sad to see really.
This board should be, imo, quite disgusted with this given what the club is meant to be to the town.
Annoying because they want all the passion and authenticity that comes from moments like this (see attached) then in the same breath think £50 is sound for a ticket
Guarantee the turf will have a ton of plastics next season

It’s the same up and down the country too, clubs in the Championship with huge catchment areas would rather have empty seats and charge through the arse for tickets. It’s minimal income too if you consider the potential extra sales making up the difference. So because the club is having a little good run on the pitch we should forget where we came from and just milk the fans? (And more importantly potentially price out some of the next generation)
That’s weird logic to me
