Fan Advisory Board Update from the Clarets Trust

Post by aggi » Tue Jul 04, 2023 10:02 am

Nothing to do with me, I just spotted it on Twitter and thought it relevant (and obviously already in the public domain):

Many thanks for this very full update. Balanced and thoughtful. It appears that there are a number of welcome developments in the pipeline.

Great to see some updates from these groups now.

A really positive change.

But surely the Club should be giving us these updates!

I'd disagree Pete, I think its important the view and report comes from the fans or it could end up diluted by the club to avoid any backlash if there was anything that split fan opinion

Good point, but the club should release the minutes to the meeting as soon as possible.

Great update, really interesting. Looks like the club will be issuing the minutes of meetings, perhaps once the FAB has been officially launched, but as someone else has said it’s important to get a second perspective on the meetings.

Sorry if this comes across negative but it doesn’t tell us anything we don’t already know or have seen across several sites. Suppose it formalizes things and confirms they are correct but nothing I didn’t already know or had heard or seen on the web.

for me, the view from the fans is more important than the clubs view of the meeting.

i cant help but feel that its very much a "in the know" circle, who've now communicated because of the pressure.

they should be representing the fans, not just be there as recipients of the clubs messages

Quite good that, and in general I welcome the changes that are in the offing.

One thing I would personally consider adapting slightly is the 20 points per away game being awarded for EVERY away game. I personally believe that a trip (from Burnley) to Bournemouth for a MNF game should be rewarded with more points than a trip (from Burnley) to the etihad on a Saturday to see the European champions. Not as straightforward as it seems I get that, but the points could be awarded on a ‘distance travelled to attend’ basis. (Up to 100 miles, 20 points - up to 200 miles - 25 points, up to 300 miles - 30 points etc…) Difficult I imagine, (and I imagine BFC could make it more so🤔🥴😉🤣) but not impossible. We all need a clarets number and for that we all need a home address.

Anyway, the proposed changes are generally welcome. Well done to the FAB.

Good to hear the news about the club badge too. That was left uncertain for far too long.

Young people are like lawyers, they haven’t learned yet that rather than using 1,000 words 100 will do. But I agree with the author, better a full lengthy update than missing things out, and really good to do that write up. That bit about entry hospitality for £50 ish for STH I didn’t know, whether that adjusts based on the category of the game I still don’t know though, and I assume we have to give our STH back for that game as part of the price?

In regards to catering, its interesting to see that the new people have spent a season monitoring the current set up/footfall etc so they should be able to improve on things relatively quickly for next season.

It is good to share information - secrecy is never a good look.

Looking forward to the next elections for members of the Fan Advisory Board - have they been scheduled yet?

Well done to all involved in this. Great to see clear communication from the FAB and also interesting to see the age demographic mainly between 30-75. This goes against belief on here that it was just young ens and new policies have been favoured for them.

I'm 225 miles from Turf Moor (no ST), and 14 miles from Watford. Can I have 20 points for a home game?
