It must be difficult for him watching the club push the boat out to get a new GK in who is going to make him number 2.
Especially a guy who was probably junior to him at City.

He worked hard last season to improve his game and win most of the fans over. Hope he stays and really pushes Trafford to claim the no 1 spot.

He doesn’t suddenly become a bad keeper.
Something has happened here. Think he is a v good keeper.

Mind numbing.

Who was it who wasn’t sufficiently smiling on a picture once? Andre Gray? We had pages of it. Tedious beyond belief.
The body language experts loved (well hated) Andre Gray. Scoring the winner counts for nothing if you don't go and give the fans a quick clap at the end.

And as for Dwight McNeil, screw what the stats say, it was obvious from his body language that he was lazy and hated Dyche.

He looks perfectly happy on the trading video the club released yesterday, smiling away!

I thought he was fantastic for us. He passing was outstanding. But he did a few strange things.
Best one is that vid of him playing in an international and sticking 't nut on that player who got fly with him - was worth his sending-off!

I thought Muric was awful early in the season but I have to admit he improved dramatically over the season. I would be happy if we went into the new season with him as our number 1

My word I’ve missed watching Muric play. Such an amazing talent.

Praying we see him back in the league soon.

Bit OTT perhaps given you or I could have played in goal last night but must admit it was nice to see him.

I can tell you one thing for certain - i couldn’t have passed it around last night like Muric!!!!

We completely different when he plays in my opinion, although obviously the opposition was a factor last night.

Not sure what he did last night to provoke exclamations of amazing talent? He was fine but had very little to do apart from pass it around under zero pressure.

He did play one decent ball over the top for Odobert who had made that Tella run that nobody is making for us now, but it was slightly too long.

Would love Muric back in Saturday but it's hard to judge anything from last night he had zero saves to make and misplaced a couple of passes.
He needs a premier League test

In general, he was unusually safe with his passes, especially given the scoreline allowed for him to be a bit more daring. But then the midfield greats generally do just that - pass it simply and safely. He pinged a few around though, only the one you mention do I remember being missplaced (maybe another) and some pinpoint accurate ones through the middle between two Salford players that nobody else would try.

But it it’s also his movement I love, the angles he creates. He runs around a lot for a GK, even last night when he didn’t need to use his hands.

At one point he went in to a deep LB position to create an angle for Roberts. Goal completely unguarded. Robert’s messed it up but the angle was on had he passed quicker. Then there’s how high he plays. He gives zero fecks and backs himself completely to win a diving header near the half way line  Fabulous stuff.

I dare say Trafford is a better shot stopper than Muric and against top teams may well be the better bet for that reason, guess we’ll never know unless we see more of Muric against that standard, but I think the very small things Muric does with his movement and positioning make a huge difference to us. And just generally our style is less complete without him.

The one I mentioned wasn't misplaced, it was a great ball. He did put 4 or 5 into touch though.

The header he didn't have to come far for cos he was way out of his goal anyway and he wasn't really challenged, but was a good pass though.

I don't think there's a lot between our keepers and I think muric should have started the season, along with a few others but it's bit of an OTT reaction to what was essentially a training game last night. He played better against Forest.

This debate will rumble on all season. My preference would be Muric, although VK has made his mind up on who is his number 1.

I thought Muric was great at Huddersfield last season so really don’t understand these comments about him not being good early season.

I really do wonder about the Muric German bar thing the week of the Boro game. I think if there had been a more reliable no 2 he'd have been dropped back then.

I would have started season with Muric but i can understand Vincent playing young Trafford because of the fee we paid but i know we are only a few games in but i know what is weakness is and so do other teams he is rooted to is line and player's around him and we don't protect him as we don't have leaders in our two centre half's. It will be interesting on Saturday from set pieces from Tripper to see how we defend them against there big centre halfs .

So you would have dropped him on the basis of how much he spent in a bar?

I think VK has wanted to replace Muric ever since he was subbed off at half time last season.

Not sure that’s the point.

More so was it the right moment to be having those exploits in the week prior to a pivotal game? What if he returned and didn’t train very well? I recall at the Boro game he was looking ill and the commentator suggested he might be sick at one point.

There was also the Watford home game where he had an absolute first half stinker and subbed off at half time. Kompany later said he was ill and it would have been helpful if he’d known before the game.

I just get the impression there is something more to it. I was a big Muric fan last season and excited to see him in the Prem, but surely the bigger picture, wanting a 13m+ keeper urgently, putting Trafford straight in… suggests the manager wasn’t going to trust him, for one reason or another.

I don't think there should be a position where the star goalie from last season's off field antics were so bad that he must be replaced in the team but not bad enough that it's fine for him to be the number 2 and play in the cup. Feels like a 2+2=5 while VK just prefers Trafford.

Both are possibilities. Though the argument is that Muric is a better ball playing keeper and was pretty decent at the rest of it by the end of last season, so on that basis deserved his chance. Hence the other questions.

This is just an impression I'm getting at present:
Trafford looks small in goal. Yes, I know he isn't, maybe it's his positioning or how he sets himself.
Currently Muric looks far more commanding to me.

Problem is that we’ve only seen Muric perform in the Championship and only seen Trafford perform in the Premier League. Plenty of players out there that look fantastic in the Championship but are bang average in the Premier League. Comparing Muric and Trafford is complicated because we haven’t seen them both playing at the same level.
