Lancashire v Essex

Post by lakedistrictclaret » Mon Jul 10, 2023 4:44 pm

I wss going to come down for the first day of this game at Blackpool.

Glad I didn't....they've only managed 4.1 overs.

They should have played it in my corner of the Lake District, it's only just started drizzling now.

Didn't rain here until the afternoon and then not too much. Rare we get less rain than Blackpool.

Lashing down all afternoon on Scillies. First rain in months. Pity the poor sods on holiday mooching around in waterproofs 😕

I’ll give it until day 2 of the 4th test until someone suggests he should be brought into the England squad.

Taken from the BBC this morning , i have a feeling Yorkshire have enough runs on the board .

I would guess it might be unlikely that we go for them, rather ensure we try to make sure we don't lose the game.

We are going at just below the required rate but it's a massive ask to get 430 in the fourth innings of a game

Luke Wells has scored 10 4's and 2 6's in his 69no, so looks like he could be going for it.

But way below the strike rate required, it's Bohannon that's pushed it up.

Shows a far better attitude than earlier in the season.

Just noticed that Critchley who didn’t bowl in first innings got 2 wickets so far inc Vilas for 0.
How many points do we get for a draw compared to a loss ?

If we lose we'll get three points, if we draw we"ll get eight ( three bowling points and five for the draw ).
I've ruled out the possibility of winning, but if we did we'd get nineteen.

172 needed. Go for it. Lose 5 points or gain 16. Worth the risk and still got the chance to play for a draw later

There are a required number of overs to be bowled in a day which is the minimum.
