John Denver… ‘For You’ is one of the most touching songs I’ve ever heard.

Although I haven't totally eradicated Billy's shite efforts from my memory..."Uptown girl" and the accompanying video are the most toe curling efforts in musical history 🤨

I've always been a fan of Billy Joel and his live shows are excellent....except for Uptown Girl which is just cheesy shite.

Similarly I am a big Springsteen fan but Dancing In the Dark, just why? I hate that song.

Oh and you're not really a dancer Bruce!

I’ve got many bands more than 10 years after they released albums but can’t think of anybody I would detest.

I didn’t use to get Bruce springsteen, then i saw him . And the penny dropped.. seen him 5 times since..

Depeche mode - didn’t really get and now with hindsight some great albums , excellent remixes and a **** hot live show that transforms the sound.

My Christmas present last year was The Highwaymen DVD recorded at Nassau Coliseum in March 1990, I properly listened to Sunday Morning Comin' Down which awoke my interest and the whole of that gig was just immense.

Anybody got a working time machine? 🤔

Not a singer or band but I’ve started to like 80-90’s hip hop! I absolutely despised it at the time!

I find Eva Cassidys’ Field of Gold more emotive. Sadly taken far too young but, what a pure voice.

Live Eva Cassidy songs, but for emotive Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention "Who knows where the time goes" is right up there.

As a young lad Bowie was my favorite artist my next door neighbour used to come round to borrow not Bowie's Lp's off me but the lyric inserts from them he just loved to read his amazing lyrics ...Bowie was a genius.

Oasis.

Wouldn't say I detested them before but just thought the Gallagher brothers were a bit obnoxious so wasn't particularly interested in their music.

Realize now they're actually 2 talented singer/songwriters and I regularly listen to Oasis CD albums in the car plus Noels High Flying Birds and Liam's solo stuff.

Re: A Singer/band you used to detest but as you have got older appreciate them so much more.

Can't think of one. I might like people/bands that I was ambivalent about, but rarely can get from "detest" to "love". I suppose it is possible that a band have released a load of good stuff, but I've only known rubbish.
The other way round seems likely - a group you liked for a while and then realised they were shite.
