Re: ARTICLE: Striker Amdouni is a Claret
Did they ever have any ideas in the first place? I appreciate that they're aimed at the 'Tik Tok' generation, but even so I've had the misfortune of seeing 3 or 4 of these 'announcement' videos and not only in terms of what could (very loosely) constitute 'content' but also (even more loosely) 'production', they have all been pieces of utter crap.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 1:55 pmgreat news to wake up to but what an awful video, looks like they've run out of ideas !

If you think that a 30 second piece of crap like that video with a 'back story' which has absolutely zero relevance to the player (nor ever any player of the ones that I've encountered) and looks like it's been produced in 3 minutes by a 5 year old on a mobile phone is going to improve the club's social media footprint, improve the club's image and attract investors then you must be very easily suited.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 3:20 pm

These videos have less artistic quality than the usual kind of graffiti you see in your average pub toilet.
And as for 'old man yells at clouds' post - great piece of original thinking, really tickled me did that. You want to get your name down to contribute to the next 'reveal' video.

People are seeing it, liking it, sharing it, quote tweets etc, it's gaining traction.
That you hate it just doesn't matter quite simply, you're not the target market and for good reason.
Last summer, we dominated the social media in video reveals, fans were actually berating Barca for the poor quality of theirs and saying they should be doing quality like ours.
Since then, other clubs have been playing catch up and now do similar quality work for player reveals.
That's the world we live in.
That work attracts positive attention, which in turn makes brands want to be affiliated with us when we're in the market looking for corporate deals.
You can turn your nose up at it, but those are the facts.

It IS old man yells at cloud. My teenage kids thought it was funny and shared it amongst their peers. The ‘production’ value is meaningless. Have you seen the state of some of the YouTube content which get millions of views?

Its getting traction on social media - that is exactly what its designed to do
And of course some won't like it, and some will, and some will go "WTF?" but as long as they are talking about on social media, then that exactly what the club are looking for
I get that people don't understand this, but its something the club have become very, very good at

It used to be that signings had to have sleeve tattoos.
Now it seems that they have pushed down socks/small shinpads à la Jack Grealish

Hadn't heard of him either but got chatting to a guy with a deep "football manager" kind of football knowledge and he thinks we e got a good player.
He looks great on the clips and his scoring record is impressive, especially the second half of last season.

Re: ARTICLE: Striker Amdouni is a Claret
I'm an old man these days and I find the video naff however it is completely short sighted not to realise how good the exposure is for BFC. They know exactly what they are doing and the fact that it has been picked up by sites such as 'The Poke' are testament to this.cricketfield73 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 4:10 pmThanks for the clarifications that they're not aimed at me.

The club has managed to throw off its old image in the space of 14months and been dragged kicking and screaming into the present day. A few years ago the only people that were ever going to take an interest in Burnley Football Club were local people who were taken to the match by their relatives. Now we have massive exposure around the world. Extremely important if we are to compete at the highest level.

Thanks Vegas - good listen with a very patient and gracious contributor. Talked about Amdouni's ball carrying/ball progression and being most effective as a deep lying forward. Limitations/areas to work on included physicality and speed (not acceleration). He also stressed the need for patience during adaptation. It was an almost identical assessment to that of Swissguy but Zesiger isn't a Basel fan.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 8:12 pmTurfcast interview with Swiss football expert Oliver Zesiger
