That is what sky sports premier league has become now, it’s as much about the pre game ‘punditry’ as it is about the actual game now. As well as Pace, they had JJ Watt playing American football with Jamie Carragher, Mrs Watt also interviewed and the 'Dude Perfect' blokes made an appearance explaining which other teams they supported.
I wouldn't have been surprised if we had Ronald McDonald having a shoot-out with Mickey Mouse.

Apologies if this is elsewhere on the thread, but has anyone worked out how to watch this overseas?
Re: Mission to Burnley (including spoilers from page 9)
Watched all four episodes. Really enjoyable series and excellent production. Both Kompany and Pace came across brilliantly. They will be kept so I can watch again at some point.

Re: Mission to Burnley (including spoilers from page 9)
Finished the doc and what a man Vincent Kompany is! He is manager, sporting director, coach and board member all in one person. I think kompany will of even had a final day in the edit if the doc. I know some people wanted to see more behind the scenes but kompany wont want the world to see what he does day to day,
Stuart hunt and mark Williams also come across really well too.
At times it does feel like a season review but I suppose when we where drawing all those games there’s not much to show, not many neutrals would want to watch a doc about a championship team drawing games.

Re: Mission to Burnley (including spoilers from page 9)
Was worried about the potential for this to be too religious. It was just background. Pace comes across well. He has a nervous giggle. I do think he is invested in the community angle. Not sure he fully appreciated football finances. I was fine with how they portrayed the club. Thought they captured our support well. Put our derby in context and showed how deeply felt it is. Love Vinny, the man is a genius.
Would have done more on Rotherham at home. I was convinced we were going up after that - the team felt special. I also would have liked to have seen Blunts away post match. I'm guessing QPR was the closest we saw to Vinny dishing it out. Beyer looked particularly upset. A wider angle on the away end at Boro would have been good. It was amazing in there.

Re: Mission to Burnley (including spoilers from page 9)
Watched all 4 episodes over the past few days. Enjoyable watching a documentary on the "stuff behind the scenes" on BFC. Good to see more of Alan Pace and his family. Good to see more of all the ownership group. I hadn't realised they were all mormons - of course, it makes sense. I didn't know that two of Alan Pace's daughters had chosen to get married on match days. (Have we met the third daughter? Is she already married?).
Vincent Kompany, of course, is very impressive. It was good to see the bits when Vincent Kompany was reporting to the Board of Directors. For those who aren't familiar, it is very usual for a Board of Directors to request senior managers to join a board meeting to report to them on their subject area. That's what Vincent Kompany was doing in those meetings. He isn't a member of the board of directors. He wasn't "running the board meeting." He was, of course, doing his job very impressively. Football is all about what happens in the 90 minutes on the pitch, once or twice a week. Put that as simply as we see Vincent Kompany put to the board and we know that the board understand that they have to get the money to provide Vincent Kompany with the players he feels he needs.
I think we were given one or two additional insights into the club's financial accounts. (Based on timing suggested by positioning in the film - Sept 2022, maybe). One of board directors (or CFO?) mentioned that the club still had costs for Sean Dyche and his coaching staff - thus supporting the understanding that Sean Dyche and staff hadn't been paid off with a lump sum when he was dismissed.
(Again, based on suggested timing by positioning in the film - early 2023, perhaps March). New loan of "£40 million" had already been paid down by around £8million... At least, that's what I think was being said. I'd have to watch again a few times.
Vincent Kompany's explanation of "accounting for the non-accountant," especially when the non-accountants are young professional footballers, was pretty good.
Good to see the scenes of JJ and Kealia Watt coming to visit Burnley in the snow. Was that an occasion before they were introduced as new "co-owners?" Does the snow give an indication of the date of that visit?
Is there any relationship between JJ and Kealia Watt investing in the club and a proportion of the £40m loan being stated as paid down in the film? £8m would be around $10 million, give or take.
I'm looking forward to series 2.
Exciting times.

Finished watching all four now, personally I prefer to watch them one a day so as to digest and appreciate each episode.
Superb stuff, more like the City one than the Wrexham one but with far more boardroom insights.
My little un’s favourite bits were all the f words uttered by Vincent. I tried to divert by explaining why it was a good example of leadership.
My favourite bits were:
- the detail of Ameen’s signing
- the glory bits obvs
- the discussion of the transfer strategy for the Prem, £140m was mentioned as a tipping point figure below which relegation is very real, or words to that effect
- the team getting a tubbing from Vinny after QPR, which deprived most of us seeing us win the league live, he called out about 6 of them by name, including the one who stepped up for glory in the next game
- the capable Williams and his transfer dealings (but as COO I wished it showed more of his wider influence in some of the worse performing areas from our perspective)
- the naivety of some of the board who do look a bit out of their depth, not the finance guy who seemed good (would add though that the crucial decisions on signings and managers went well and must have been a board majority approval)
- the doubts expressed over whether Vinny’s tactics were right (before Sunderland away)
- the tactical and financial details which made it inevitable Vinny and Alan would have had to veto some content as well as Ad Hoc films cutting it as they desire
It was great entertainment, showed us in a good light, was professionally done, will attract new fans. What’s not to like? More please.

My sister wanted to show her son (ten years ) and said she thought he’d love it, but thought the dressing room language was the only thing in the documentary making it a difficult call to show children. Is it a fair comment?

But I agree my boys wanted to watch it and I was abit like, wait a sec there’s a lot of language in there.
But again I loved it and love the aggression

Really it is only episodes 3 and 4, then when it is a pre match dressing room team talk I would suggest pressing mute for the 10 year old and let the adult re-watch it later.
Re: Mission to Burnley (including spoilers from page 9)
Better yet just let the lad watch it and don't mollycoddle him. I watched Pulp Fiction not much older than that and it never did me any motherfuking harm.

Re: Mission to Burnley (including spoilers from page 9)
As some of you may recall my wife spent 6 weeks in intensive care in Rio a few years ago and although she survived her health is not great. So trying to make sure she gets as much done as possible I took her on a world cruise in January this year which meant missing probably the best 3 months of my lifetime as a Burnley supporter (or relying on very poor internet connections just to get results). W just binge watched all 4 episodes and it has reduced me to tears, thoughts of my Aunty Sheila Elliman who was a season ticket holder for 47 years and how much she would have loved this team. As so many have said we have an amazing manager who seems to have bought in to the one club, one town ethic - long bay he stay with us. Burnley FC is a truly amazing institution !

Re: Mission to Burnley (including spoilers from page 9)
Couldn't find the episode anywhere online for download so I decided to sign up to Now TV and rip it for others to watch.
So far, I've done the first episode:
https://dai.ly/kzNxKdAx12Qdugznsw9
I had to sign up and pay £10 for it, but I thought it was worth it to share the video with other Clarets fans not fortunate enough, or not able to subscribe. If anyone wants to give a bit of money back, please donate it to the Caret's foodbank:
https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/sup ... eyfoodbank
If anyone remembers pre-uptheclarets.com, I was the one who used to upload the EFL Highlights for Burnley games. Back in the day you couldn't even watch highlights abroad because they were never available to watch. That was under my old handle; inconsistentcarlisle.

At some stage I expect the plan is to make it available in the US. Not much point doing a "promotional" documentary without putting where the target audience can watch it.

That was uploaded about an hour after I started to rip the episodes myself.
Sadly, the limetorrents link is broken, and the free downloads take 3h+ each. One of the free download links requires a subscription.
Nonetheless I'll try and get all the episodes up in an easier to watch format for people.

Re: Mission to Burnley (including spoilers from page 9)
Now on the second viewing just cos its on Sky yet again and the family are all in bed….
One thing to escape me last time was how impressive some of Alan’s decision making was.
There were people warning him off Kompany, people warning him off transfers, he stuck to his guns and I suspect was crucial. He deserves a lot of credit, as much as Vinny probably. They make a great twosome (not that I’d like to witness that )
Also didn't notice in the first finance meeting where Vinny attended they were talking in dollars. Interesting on a few levels which I won’t linger on tonight.
Then the bit where all the media like Jim White were heard slating us for taking on Kompany who hadn’t pulled up any trees. There is a kind of anti-intellectual mindset here, people slag off those they think are cleverer than them. It’s obvious in hindsight - clever guy, pedigree, can attract players, top contacts, get him appointed. Amazing many don’t think like that. Again, kudos to Pace.
