Inchy scored my favourite ever Burnley goal away at Chester in the FA Cup…bringing down a lovely bell inside from David Eyres with a drag to the side and a lovely curling finish into the keeper’s to left. Wonderful.

Obviously the free kick at Sheff Utd in the FA Cup as well as his other that day, but the 1st goal the always come into my head when I think of him was a late winner at Chester also in the FA Cup to win 2-1 great 1st touch then put in the top corner from edge of the box in front of the away end

One of my favourite players when he was with us. Scored some great goals. One he somehow scored down the cricket field end from almost on the byline!

Wondered at the time how we'd managed to sign such a good player.

I don't think people realise just how good a player he was for us.
When you watch the highlight videos from that era on YT. (A lot got taken down but some have started appearing again)
Great football brain. Very creative player.

We had, for a brief period, a 'Heath Robinson' strike force. Not many clubs ( probably none,) could boast of the same.

Did he get sent off for heading the ball into the Net after the ref had blown up for something (second yellow) If I remember correctly it was at Sheffield United. Crazy I know but unless my memory deceives me that's what happened.

I remember that but thought it was against Reading on the Turf.

He got sent against Reading after chipping the ball back to Shaka Hislop, who wanted to waste time, so just left the ball to go in the net.
Bonkers decision.

It was at the Cricket Field end at the Turf. He maintained he was lobbing the ball back to their keeper after the ref had blown, the keeper made no attempt to collect the ball and it went into the net.

Remember watching him at(I think)Stockport and thinking that he was a step above everyone else.
He was obviously used to playing at a much higher level and was laying off clever balls to people that had never made the runs to get on the end of them.
One moment I remember at the Turf was when he attempted a shot and headed the ball downwards from only a few yards out. Seemed like perfect technique except it bounced off the ground and went straight over the bar. He was on TV later that day lamenting his bad luck.
Enjoyed watching him, he was a good player.

Re: Today’s blast from our Clarets Past (3) - Adrian ‘Inchy’ Heath
His first game as manager was at Bristol City. We got absolutely battered for 99% of the game with Bristol doing everything but score, including missing a penalty. In an isolated break upfield Kurt Nogan ran through and scored the only goal with the referee missing the most blatant handball in football history.
Displayed a poor grasp of pub etiquette at Yates's Wine Lodge either Christmas 1992 or 93. Seemed unaware that if it's busy at the bar you wait your turn, top scorer for the Clarets at the time or not.

I agree with this. I think the addition of Ted McMinn to that side in 93/94, was a very good one, because it added another player who had played at a higher level, with know-how and skill.Croydon Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 5:58 pmRemember watching him at(I think)Stockport and thinking that he was a step above everyone else.

We had a cracking midfield and forward line that season.

And the keeper could easily have caught it, but chose not to……….PhiladelphiaChris wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 5:34 pmI remember that but thought it was against Reading on the Turf.
Again, if I remember rightly……

Was sat behind the goal in the cricket field end when he got sent off. Hislop definitely made no attempt to catch the ball!
