Amdouni ,koleosho,Beyer,O’Shea,Al Dakeel ,all been good.
Re: Mainz v Clarets
So can he sit in or not?
“I think in a league where we are likely to spend more time sitting in without the ball, and will be more exposed to counters when we do have it, his attributes will be essential. Twine for one certainly does not replicate them.
As for him struggling in the PL before- I've already said, the more he is asked to sit, the more limited he looks.”

Re: Mainz v Clarets
Larsen apparently a very versatile player and can play all across the front which is helpful.
Re: Mainz v Clarets
Rather play them earlyCoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2023 4:11 pmDisagree.
City are in mini transition and have infamously come unstuck against ‘lesser’ sides at the beginning of the season before they get in their stride - no better time to play them.
They started slow last season scoring just 19 goals in their first five games in August!

Probably a decent bloke but desperately needs binning.

Jay rod has looked sharper than foster, but I don’t know if that’s because Amdouni has been very active

Apart from a few flashes this has been a really poor performance.

Amdouni deserves one. Good vision, reading game well and prepared to take a player on. Looking very good today.

Re: Mainz v Clarets
Tella's much faster and a better goalscorer. JBG far better decision making and a better playmaker. Very different styles but I agree that they both look best sat in a half-and-half role.
Think played centrally in a De Bruyne esque role is JBG's best position for us.

I know it’s only a friendly but how refreshing to see a referee talking to players in the way he’s done today

In my opinion Muric picks a better, and quicker, pass than Trafford.spt_claret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2023 4:14 pmMuric is mental but he keeps getting away with it, he's so fun to watch.
I think Trafford may be trying a bit too hard at the moment, which is understandable.

Nice-looking stadium. Love that big open terrace.
Re: Mainz v Clarets
It’ll be interesting to compare who’s in the starting line up day 1 vs the last game. We’ve a lot of very talented young players it looks like. Multiples at some positions. Some will come good, some won’t of course. But watching this team come together and grow will be fun. Just hope we get enough points to stay up and see the improvement year 2 in the PL.

Re: Mainz v Clarets
Having a proper full back and number 6 playing after 60 minutes has made a difference
Re: Mainz v Clarets
Has the feel of an early pre season game to me not the last one before the season ko. Not sure I’m any clearer on the starting line up and formation for next week.

Re: Mainz v Clarets
Some nice football and not at all fussed about the result. We definitely need some physicality and presence in the middle of the pitch both in midfield and up top though. Not convinced Foster is the answer centrally. And I definitely miss Maatsen at left back. Got to move on of course, but he offered a lot in attack especially. Cullen will give us more presence in midfield, but we're one short there. As much as I like JBG, he can't be the first 11 answer in the premier league. Amdouni looks very exciting, Koleosho too. O'Shea looks to have a great ping on him and Redmond will definitely add something. Lot's to be pleased about
Re: Mainz v Clarets
Been properly crap today
Re: Mainz v Clarets
For me we keep it simple and go with our best players in each position and then fill in sensibly around that to cover for injuries/ players not signed yet.Elbarad wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2023 4:26 pmIt’ll be interesting to compare who’s in the starting line up day 1 vs the last game. That would look something like:
Muric
Roberts O'Shea Beyer Taylor
Cork
Redmond Brownhill Amdouni Zaroury
Rodriguez
Too much over-thinking today and a disjointed showing as a result

We’re losing a friendly. So….
Come on you guys. A lot of new faces. This will only help decisions that need to be made next Friday, and I don’t think for one minute that the approach from the players will be the same as we’ve seen today.
