In a weird way I haven’t felt this excited about a Burnley game since Man Utd came for our first home PL game in 2009. Part of the excitement is that I truely believe that this is going to be the start of a special ride in the PL win lose or draw on Friday. Im going to get down there early, celebrate the day knowing that whatever happens, we can look forward to 2 weeks off after it and an intriguing end to the transfer window.

Burnley FC are doing everything I hoped and wished for ever since we got into the PL. Its brilliant. Up the clarets

Will this game be the most watched Burnley game of all time?

Friday night, first game of the PL season, treble winners in town, Kompany v City…

Be interesting to see what the total global audience ends up at.

But it's Man City! :(

Everyone is upbeat about the players we are signing - but it's Man City

Everyone feels we are going to be OK and even finish higher than halfway! - but it's Man City

everyone really knows that we wont start our season till Man City have been and gone.

We were already training while City were still nursing their title celebration hangovers.

We were training hard while they were jetting around in Japan and Korea.

It's the perfect time to play them.

The perfect time to play them was about 20 years ago? when they were gash!

We did - they still did us every time! :(

Let's address the elephant in the room! ( I hate nonsense business speaky quotes like this but) Man City are a big fat feckin grey elephant that always dumps on us and then lifts a leg and douses us in big fat elephant widdle.

It's not particularly painful because you know it's coming but it is poo and widdle!

We've got a good record playing against the existing Champions first game.

Beat Man U. 1-0 & Chelsea 3-2

Actually, I'd forgotten we'd lost to Stoke away, before we'd played Man U. so scrap that.

It’s a game I always dread, and we know that 99% of the time it’s a certain battering…

but there’s always the 1%.

Forest took a point off them last season, no reason we can't - could do with the crowd being well up for it and not sitting there in silence especially if/when we concede

Didn't Ben Mee explain on MOTD how they had kept Haaland quiet? I'm surprised other teams didn't mark him the same way.

Brentford beat them home and away last season. Vinnie will have a plan, hopefully the players will execute it to perfection.

Surely there can't be another team in the football league with a better aggregate score against us? One for the statisticians

The eve of a new season, time to take stock....

I watched my first game in October 1987 (yes, I was fortunate to miss the very worst of Burnley).

We've enjoyed an extended spell in the PL with a European adventure. We've just walked the championship playing unbelievable football under a truly inspirational manager. We're about to play the reigning champions at home in the season curtain raiser. We're co-owned by an NFL legend and a group of YouTubers and I'm sat watching a Sky documentary about us.

What a journey we've been on and I can't help but feel this season is going to be very special.

Pretty much mirrored my BFC journey there TFC. I've so many amazing memories down the years but I do feel we ae about to start something very different. Let's see where it takes us but, I'm going to enjoy it!

Damn I’m buzzing, got 3 and a half hours at work this morning before I drive 200 miles to get to Burnley.

Looking forward to getting down the fanzone later and soaking up the energy.
